When Shaun decides to take the day off and have some fun, he gets a little more action than he bargained for. A mix up with the Farmer, a caravan and a very steep hill lead them all to the Big City and it's up to Shaun and the flock to return everyone safely to the green grass of home.

consider the amnesia, the achingly nostalgic theme tune, the walkman spluttering and dying, characters so obsessed with the new that they only recognise the value of the old when it's (almost...) too late. this is about cinema, then; a consciously endangered film crying out to be preserved, reviving the silents' bygone audiovisual language and the cosy ramshackle textures rare in modern animation. the epilogue wisely clarifies that being a slave to tradition is no better than abandoning it.

You can't really go wrong with fun Aardman stop-motion movies. Shaun the Sheep is no exception, with it's cute characters and funny slapstick. I wouldn't consider it among the best of them, but it's a worthy contribution.

Wallace & Gromit-lite, which is a perfectly fine substitute as long as there are currently no Wallace & Gromit films coming out. The Shaun the Sheep series is not something I've seen much of, but it's clear the creators continued the same formula only making it a little more kids friendly. Still fun for adults with a bunch of laughs through a predictable tale! One of the most pleasant acquaintances of the early part of 2015!

Judging by this and the first ten episodes of the series, this first movie was a step up. Enjoyable from start to finish.

A step-down from the more darkly subversive Peter Lord creations, this is still a fun and enjoyable ride with, as usual, a multitude of amusing gags and in-jokes carrying on in the background. Attempts to recapture the spirit of silent comedy are always welcome; its target audience does mean this ends up a little more benign than necessary, but still good fun.

I'll be damned if someone out there didn't find this to be remotely cute. Shaun the Sheep Movie continues what I think is a successful run for Aardman with it's eye for detail in the animation and scenery and it's enduring characters. I watched the short series on Disney Channel when I was younger and was surprised to see a movie was coming out in 2015. I loved it just as equally! Cute characters and some silly events and great humor will surely keep the train rolling for the whole family :)

Very plot-heavy. Has some fun gags that feature in the movie, but doesn't really evoke Nick Park's use of the entire frame to communicate humor.

Well crafted slapstick and a plethora of small witty details make this a rather enjoyable movie for all ages. The stopmotion is of course first class, as expected from Aardman.

This was great fun. Just a wealth of creativity and a joy to watch. I'm not going to put it down as a "classic" or anything, but there was a lot of charm in its simplicity, and the total lack of dialogue is an inspired choice that leads to some wonderful, creative scenes you wouldn't find in any other movie.

The humor is far weaker than Wallace and Gromit but Aardman is still Aardman, experts of animated film language. It's like they kicked their feet up and embraced old jokes while keeping their timing, technicality, and directing.

I must bemoan the passed-gas, sheep-poop and guy-sitting-on-a-commode humor that gets sprayed from the Hollywood honey wagon. And preposterous pratfalls might split the difference at times. But there are plenty of solidly silly circumstances and genuinely giggle-worthy gags tumbling around these cinematic fields, thick as fleece in winter. This pic is as active as it is droll. And it's just a touch sweet and heartfelt, too. (pluggedin.com)

It's cute. There are probably no original gags in this movie, they all seem to be made up from "classic bits" that we all know. Claymation isn't really my thing, but this looks better than a lot of recent animation because it doesn't look like a fucking Pixar movie.

Seeking a little leisure time, Shaun and his flockmates inadvertently send their farmer to the Big City, where he promptly loses his memory. It's up to them to bring him back--while evading an evil animal-control officer. Charming, sweet, and frequently very funny; a return to form from Aardman after the iffy Pirates! Band of Misfits. The story is nothing really new and the lack of dialogue is at times contrived, but you'll probably be too delighted to really care. Life's a treat, indeed.

Sweet endearing movie with an adorable but unusual animation style. A sweet story about wanting to take a break from the routine, and discovering the most rewarding thing is the routine. I was quite surprised to like it as much as I did. Very clever use of nonverbal gestures and pantomime to convey their messages. Watchable by all ages.

Pretty much what I've come to expect from Aardman - highly skilled animation applied to gags high and low. Maybe a bit more on the low side in this outing. But the details will carry you past any misgivings. It turns out, when Shaun whistles, his mouth looks really strange, and if you see him from behind, he has a shockingly scrawny neck. It makes sense given his design. But who ever managed to make his pupils visible in his pitch black irises deserves some sort of Nobel prize.

So much respect for the stop-motion animation which is such a painstaking art that is well done here. The story is a little adventure that adds some humour here and there, all the while using no dialogue.

No. Spoken. Dialogue. Those three words should be enough to build excitement about any animation, and this one pulls off its feature-length effort with aplomb. Visuals are at the heart - the story being told by the actions and reactions of the characters, not some irritating "where do I recognise him from?" big-money voice actors - with Aardman's loving stop-motion perfectly capturing the quaint Englishness of the film's setting. Genuinely funny in many parts too. Good job.

Not to be confused with Shaun of the Dead, although I've heard Shaun the Sheep has a Halloween special. This movie was incredibly cute and charming. I do wish it had some voice acting in it. It had a lot of drawing, gesturing and odd mumbling instead of speaking. It reminded me of an old Lego video game where they didn't speak. I really liked all the characters. The sheep were cool, I loved the dog and farmer and the pigs were really awesome...

I'm a big fan of Aardman and there is no denying this has some great moments, but it falls slightly short of their usual highs despite the fact that I enjoyed it a lot. I think possibly the problem for me was the lack of dialogue puts a lot of pressure on the visual humour to stay at a consistently high level, which it doesn't always manage. I've not seen the tv series, but I could imagine the lack of dialogue works a lot better in shorter bursts.

Let me tell you that this movie while aimed at kids, will bring the inner child out of every adult who goes and enjoys this ride. And all that virtual is without any dialog - WOW!Truly amazing.
It is cute when animals talk, but for that there are other movies to watch. It's not that this is realistic or anything (there are some really crazy action set pieces, especially towards the end), but words are not always needed, in this case none at all. There's a lot of ways to have fun, and this is it

Good laughs for kids and adults, but as usual with Aardman, the laughs are largely visual in nature--even more so here since the film is essentially a silent (or at least a non-talkie). I wish more films were this visually oriented, but alas, words, words, words.

Maybe I just don't like pantomime. The designs are cute and the style seems on par with other similar types of films, but the more I watch them the less I like them. Everything seems forced, from the comedy to the plotting to the one dimensional characters, I just can't get on the film's wavelength and find any joy in it.

It pains me to give an Aardman film a less-than-stellar review. This film has a lot of heart and Aardman Studios clearly put a fuckton of work into it, and I admire that enormously. But Aardman just doesn't have much practice applying their stop-motion technique to film. This film has serious pacing problems and just not enough gags to sustain its full-length run-time. I respect the effort that went into it, but I still struggled to stay engaged.

The Shaun the Sheep Movie is suitable for all ages. Children will enjoy the colourful visuals and the absurd situations while adults will find some pleasure in the more subtle humour and references (spoofs). You can find them all on IMDb. I didn't recognize them all to be honest but the once I've noticed (Breaking Bad, Bean, Taxi Driver and Hannibal) are absolutely brilliant.
