Why does the guy who Scarface is based on, seem like the most sensible person in this doc?
29 Mar 2020
This has everything, and I mean everything. Dangerous animals, murder, weird YouTube communities, cult leaders, drug dealers, glorious country music, gay marriage, reality TV, political campaigning, and on and on. The saying "truth is stranger than fiction" was basically invented for this. I genuinely can't recommend this enough.

Needs to be put on the fast track to being deemed culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant by the Library of Congress.

“Lmao Travis you beautiful idiot.”
29 Mar 2020
You're telling me all I need to do to get a harem, is to have a couple tigers? WTF am I doing with my wasted life?
30 Mar 2020
The documentarians really struck gold on this one. "Yeah, let's make a doc about that quirky tiger guy that John Oliver made fun of. Wait holy shit, he's got two husbands who are both straight, he's obsessed with a hypocritical cat lady who may have murdered her husband, and his mentor is a full-blown cult leader?!" The only major issue is that they try to introduce meth use as a plot twist... come on guys; you see one frame, you know meth is involved. Doc Antle should be in prison.
24 Mar 2020
Absolutely livid that Joe Exotic's song about Carole Baskin murdering her husband isn't on Spotify.

Scored so high because U MUST see: Not saying film making not good, just my V strong recco based purely on outrageous, engrossing content: Psychos, drama & weirdos across the board + beautiful animals (however happy they may, or may not, be). Elements may disturb: Sociopathy, mental illness, murder, animal cruelty, culty manipulators (Vegas & Florida guys). Well made+ Doc, I think, on subject of a fascinating, disturbing, scummy group of misfits. Sorry, but laughed outloud too

It's as American a story as there can be. Lost children with no consciousness, living in redemption fantasies and power trips that end in selfish, criminal tragedies of exploitation and greed.
02 Jun 2020
It's suitable that this has become THE entertainment during quarantine, because it makes your perception of mankind drop so low that you never want to leave your house again. Although I was not previously aware of the big cat community, it is predictable that those who are drawn to owning dangerous animals are often egomaniacal nut jobs. Religion, politics, ... any power will draw in crazy losers that feel like a king when they're Robin to any Batman.

100 for every single music video
25 Apr 2020
The first season is a tale of crazy people (mostly) becoming the authors of their own destruction, unfolding across a long span of time. The second season is still filled with crazy people, but has more than a whiff of cobbling something quickly together in order to cash in, with far too much rumour and innuendo and far too little evidence. In short, it increasingly resembles just another "reality TV" series.
28 Mar 2020
It's reprehensible trash, but it's entertaining reprehensible trash.
13 Apr 2020
Joe Exotic is what you would get if Sigfried & Roy were raised in the swamp lands. Everyone here is trash with a complete lack of self awareness, which leads them to believe that they are in the right. This show proves the adage "Nobody ever thinks they are the bad guy" I hope season two is just people trying to beat a confession out of Carole Baskin while Joe Exotic's songs play in the background. ?'Cause?I?saw tiger, Now I?understand, I saw tiger,?and the tiger saw man ?

If I want to tell my grandkids in the future how crazy 2020 was, I'll just show them this documentary.
11 Apr 2020
Entertaining, but it's a couple hours too long, and it uses that time for idiots, cons, and other varieties of dipshits to give their useless opinions. I trust very few of the details in this documentary. Still, it's entertaining. Do not expect anything more than that - there were plenty of opportunities to make compelling statements, touch us emotionally, or educate people on big cat conservation but this doc failed to do that.
11 Apr 2020
The Tiger King himself is a compelling and exuberant character enough for this show, but it seems just about every other person that hovers around or near his life and is featured in this doco is also as captivating, sharing and contrasting different elements to this main man. The doco techniques are Netflix standard, it's just that this real-life odyssey can't help but be fascinating.

The documentarians struck gold when they stumbled upon this crazy part of the American landscape populated with a host of loathsome, colorful cases of personality disorders. The first five or so episodes are just a cavalcade of insanity that can't help but entertain you. However, the lack of focus, which must have been hard when you have so many interesting characters to document, leaves the series feeling unfulfilling as it desperately tries to meaningfully wrap up the chaos in the last episode
04 Apr 2020
You are all assholes for thinking that everyone in this one deserves the same kind of treatment!
01 Apr 2020
Instant cult status, which is given the amount of story gold not entirely strange.

i mean... arrest them all or free joe

I can't wait for 20 years in the future when this is the thing that sticks out in my brain when someone asks me what the covid quarantine was like.
24 Feb 2021
Carol Baskin killed that poor husband.
29 Oct 2020
Engaging just on the pure insanity of it all, but the doc succeeds in giving a sense of humanity to Joe's character despite his eccentricities. On the other hand, it doesn't look at the issue broadly - It glorifies Joe and fails to show how his treatment of animals differs from Carole nor does it convey the actual problems that come with owning exotic animals, not to mention it can be misleading. As a doc to highlight Joe's rambling insanity, it's good, but that's about all you'll get from it.
25 May 2020
It's extremely entertaining obviously, but the documentary makers themselves are scummy and irresponsible. Watch the 2021 Louis Theroux follow up doc, and realize if you havent already that Joe is a manipulative Jim Jones type who doesn't deserve any sympathy.
17 May 2020
They've really hit the jackpot of documentary subjects, to the point that it's easy to forgive the script for its sensationalist artificiality. It's like Honey Boo Boo in a gangster saga produced by National Geographic; and the whole thing is uniquely American. Insane things happen everywhere, but this particular flavor of moneyed insanity would be unthinkable anywhere else in the world. Thematically this is a landmark mini-series and will be well-remembered.
09 May 2020
A docuseries focusing on the admittedly entertaining train-wreck that is the American big cat industry. With that said, it completely fails as a documentary and much more closely resembles "reality" television. It's portrayal of certain characters and their actions are clearly sensationalized by the film-makers for the sake of drama and makes me lose any faith that this series accurately portrays events in any manner.
12 Apr 2020
Wild, whacky and completely insane. You learn two things in this documentary. All the people who say they care about animals outside of their natural habitat are lying and there is always more to the story than meets the eye. Oh and Carole killed her husband.
07 Apr 2020
Some of the craziest people on the planet all in one show.

Everyone is fucking ridiculous
03 Apr 2020
Absolutely fascinating bunch of real world characters, that's for sure, but I wasn't a fan of the way the viewer is manipulated by the deliberately blinkered narrative style just to heighten the drama. There were also very few ultimately sympathetic individuals on display so it was difficult to care about the outcome of any of them. At least the doc does close by emphasizing that none of these people actually care about the animals they all fight for control over.

Quite, quite mad

Season one was such a great entry to quarantine and such a shock to the system, but seasons 2 can't keep it rolling that much and feels rushed. Nothing is concluded so seems pointless at times.. Slags, gets really complicated, then nothing happens..
18 Dec 2021
A highly entertaining train wreck from start to finish focusing on Joe Exotic his hatred of Carol Baskins, the sad abuse of animals, and the cast of characters surrounding Joe This rating is for the first season as I has no intention of watching the cash grab second season.
29 Nov 2021
It is admittedly fun to watch and very engrossing, but I can't help but feel like I am perpetuating a fraud to the public about Carole Baskin while watching it. High levels of manipulation make this trainwreck fun and immerse you into the world of Joe Exotic, but one must take care to not take its messaging as gospel.
16 Jun 2020
Great series but the biased narrative almost ruins it. The story writes itself so well that the added narrative is patronizing. The whole story is a shit show--and to the credit of the filmmaker, it's relatively cohesive despite this. What I don't like about the series is that it really wants you to pick a side. All these characters are unlikable to me. The series is interesting, but not enough to warrant a second season. The tigers are a cash grab and the filmmakers shamelessly(?) want in on it
16 May 2020
It is a masterpiece. So much content in 7 series only. I can't imagine those people are real. God bless America!

19 Apr 2020
It's a train wreck you just can't help but staring at, but it's clear (as with most documentaries and real life series) that the viewer is manipulated into certain ideas and thoughts. Still, it's some crazy crap that happened here and ultimately, you just feel sorry for the animals.
13 Apr 2020
Odak sorunumu bir kenara bırakıp 7 bölüm, 5 saatlik Tiger King'i izledim az önce ve başım ağrıyor. Tabiri caizse bir avuç dolusu şerefsizin hayvanları istismar ederek yükselmesi ve birbirlerini dibe çekme hikayesi sıradışı. Bu belgeselin yılın olayı olmasına şaşırmamalı.
12 Apr 2020
It hooked me when Joe Exotic said that if they tried to take his tigers it's gonna be like Waco.
09 Apr 2020
As fascinating as a train wreck, yes, but equally primitive

07 Apr 2020
Sleek documentary-making on display, but admittedly it loses a bit of steam midway through. Still a fascinating and expertly-made doc.
07 Apr 2020
Crazy documentary about crazy people. It starts with insane stories right away, but somehow every episode manages to add some layers of crazy, there's twists all the way through. It's quite long though, about half of it could have been cut without losing the quality.
