One of my very-favorite movies. I love absolutely everything about this movie. So sweet, funny, romantic and touching. Steve Martin is fantastic!

Okay, in parts. Sometimes even amusing. Martin and Keaton are mostly good, but Short is just annoying as is most of the rest of the cast.

One of Steven Martin's finest. Touches the heart and remains warmly funny at the same time.

I was incredibly concerned that their house wouldn't fit the 500+ guests. Glad it worked out.

It moves at a nice enough pace and Steve Martin is likable, even tho' I'm childless I could relate to his emotions about his little girl growing up, so it's passes the time. But it's just neither funny nor moving, just absolutely meh

This film probably deserves more than what I've rated it, but it's just so lousy with internal monologues. If I wanted to hear an internal monologue every 30 seconds, I'd stop taking my medication.

Really cute. Steve Martin does a good job as the father that doesn't want to give up his little girl. Funny in spots and touching in others.

Who doesn't love a Steve Martin family comedy from the 90s? Martin Short has a pretty amazing role too. Lots of fun and pretty moving.

Father of the Bride is a heartwarming family film in which Steve Martin takes a step back from his antics to play a more "real" character. Martin is terrific as the inner-monologue using dad who just wants his daughter's wedding to be perfect, even at his expense. With every scene, there is great humor and a true connection between actors. It actually seems like a family, and that's impressive. Really good!

Pedestrian effort from Martin makes for a boring film. He is at his worst with this harmless schlock (along with Cheaper by the Dozen etc.).

This is a film for parents. Not to say others might not find things to enjoy about it, but it’s painfully clear who this film is gunning for with Martin’s overprotective yet likeable character. And there are no thorns on this wedding rose; it’s more amusing than funny, it’s inoffensive (except maybe Short’s weird choices?), and it wants to go down easy like a slice of cake. Are these similes doing it for ya??? Huh??? I’ll forget this movie in a week!

Remakes don't get much better than this. A warm romantic comedy starring Steve Martin as George Banks, bewildered father to Annie, who is getting married soon, and George has to foot the bill and help organise the shindig.

This is a fine remake of the classic. Steve Martin and Diane Keaton have almost a magical chemistry together. Martin Short can be very annoying, but is here in a fine supporting role. This is asweet, wholesome movie and I highly reccomend it.

With only mild morsels of safe humour (Martin's conservative and protective Dad bit can only go so far, and Short's flamboyant addition gets tiring), cute but never captivating sentimentality (the "letting go" theme is sweet but predictable and bland), and hardly any lasting drama (conflicts are resolved without too much work), there's not a lot that sticks here. Martin's narration, meanwhile, is charming, but too straight-forward to help spark a screenplay in need of something more striking.
