This is a film I highly enjoy, and I like rewatching it. There's some complaints, though: The acting is all over the place which adds to a general impression of B-movie-ness. That feel makes it surprising when the film sometimes goes for emotion. Some of Bress and Gruber's writing choices are great, some bafflingly mean-spirited seemingly mostly for the sake of it. They have fun creating great contrast between the timelines, thereby illustrating the fascinating concept of life-defining moments.

The premise is strong but the material is so dark and Ashton Kutcher. Ben Affleck directed Gone Baby Gone and instantly renewed his celebrity. Ashton hijacked Bruce Willis' wife and then starred in a movie that features too much pedophilia. This movie, not the one with Brittany Murphy.

They try to make a time travel film easily accessible to everyone with an overtly simple plot and by casting Ashton Kutcher. Besides the mediocre acting it really bothers me how they leave no room for interpretation. However, the film's idea is interesting. They just don't carry it out very well.

This film will catch many people off guard. The concept is very intriguing and the dark style enhances it. At times things become overly done with little follow up by the end, but for the most part, it's worth giving a shot. Kutcher's performance could even be called surprisingly good. The ending for the director's cut is pretty terrible, so make sure you see the theatrical release. Pretty good!

The film has a pulling fascination with destiny. Kutcher's character can never find the happiness he wants without screwing up, no matter how many ways he tries to change the past. I thought it was engaging for what it was.

Very awesome plot, and the paths we're taken down are fun and creative, and even emotional. Color me impressed by Kutcher. The only drags are the acting from the child actors sometimes, and some glaring plotholes.

The Butterfly effect is a must seen for the movies, actually speaking of commercial movies and "cult movies".
The drama of the movie always makes us catch the right timing and all that, all the things that make a good movie, all the things you can find in the Butterly Effect

Everyone has things in the past that we wish we could go back and change, and then we assume our life would be better. This movie claims that the vast majority of those things would have ruined our life in some way. It's an original take on time-travel (at least in regards to the act of time-traveling itself) that fields two strong performances by Ashton Kutcher and Amy Smart. Despite it getting a bit convoluted at times it's still worthy of a watch.

An epically enjoyable Bad Movie, so nonsensical, unnecessarily cruel and just plain fucked up, I hope the writer was committed for psych-eval after this came out. The way in which was dealt with psychology and chaos theory indicates that the writer is either 12 years old or just completely insane. "Shit, no arms."

This film has an interesting premise, but the execution is too repetitive and over the top. Ashton Kutcher's below average acting ability is also not a plus. By the end of the film it's tough to care about any of the characters or take any of the events seriously.

Eric Bress and J Mackye Gruber have done an excellent job in the Butterfly Effect, very successfully setting out a tight and chilling tale of cause and effect with a superb cast of relative unknowns. It goes to show that you do not need an A-list cast to produce a first-rate movie. Definitely one for the home collection.

This movie is cool. I love movies with multiple story-lines. Kutcher may not be an acclaimed actor but he plays his part well. Amy Smart really does a great job playing so many different types of people according to her current circumstances. There is a point where you want to tell Kutcher to stop heading back to the past, but you really do want to see if he can pull it off and create a better future for everyone. One of the darkest movies I've seen in a while, very heavy stuff.
