The last and worst of the series, redeemed only by featuring one of the best Harry Callahan quotes of all five productions. The events of the film are all to be expected by now, but it trundles along nicely and has a typical Dirty Harry kind of ending. The only other notable thing is the inclusion of an early film role by Jim Carrey (appearing in the titles as James Carrey) as a drug addicted heavy metal musician. It doesn't really work though, even in death you get the feeling he's goofing off.

Liam Neeson and Patricia Clarkson are nice additions to the cast, but the plot is sheer fucking absurdity even by the standards of 80s action. The original Dirty Harry was a cutting edge action-thriller, but this movie was released the same day as Die Hard and just doesn't measure up.

I really want to see the movie Liam Neeson was directing in this! A slasher called "Hotel Satan" starring Jim Carrey as he lip-synchs "Welcome to the Jungle" to a mannequin. Can't miss!

The worst b/c it's not really a DH movie. A real DH movie has him facing bad guys the film establishes are evil sadists who legal technicalities allowed to go free. But this is about 1 mystery killer who is mostly just some unidentified kook we don't know. His remote car is both interesting & silly. We do discover he was set free but that happens too late & the guy is more nuts than sadist. The commentary on movie/tv violence also adds up to nothing. & a mob boss wouldn't feel threatened in jail

Cheesy but still kind of awesome. It manages to embrace the ridiculousness (i.e. RC car chase, Jim Carrey) and weave it in with the tough talking ass kicking Dirty Harry character. It's certainly no where near the best of series, but it's still kind of fun in a weird "this movie could only be made in the 80s" sort of way.

Astonishingly dumb, but there's almost something admirable about how far we've come from the original Dirty Harry, and how seamlessly this becomes a big, dumb action comedy where Jim Carrey lip-synchs to Guns 'n' Roses, Harry wields a harpoon, and the great setpiece is a Bullitt-aping car chase between Harry and an explosive-laden RC car. So, you know. It's about as dumb as you'd expect from the 80s.

"The Dead Pool" has shades of past greatness in comparison to the original "Dirty Harry," with its similar psychopathic serial killer and the mystery surrounding him. Too bad the film had to scurry to the end leaving little to care about. The goofy "Dead Pool" plot is rather bizarre and uninteresting, and the supporting actors - especially the villain, have little or nothing to do. Harry's final kill is quite awesome, and so are some lines, but there's nothing much here in this abrupt movie.

A good place for the series to end, to be honest. Not even this one gets flat out bad in any respect, though the soundtrack is pretty grating at times. However it's not anything above passable, even for die-hard Dirty Harry fans. There is some great trademark bad-ass dialog the series is known for but aside from that this really doesn't stand out at all. Again, it's not bad just nothing remotely special.

Watchable enough, and certainly better than the dreadful 'Sudden Impact'. Jim Carrey is hardly in it, by the way.

The last and the least Dirty Harry flick. Few good scenes of campy fun doesn't redeem poor overall quality of the film. Early example of teaming up cops with different racial backgrounds. Kung-fu..? Talk about stereotypes. Roles of Neeson and Carrey were hilarious. Hilariously bad, that is.

Fantastic movie that balances action with wry comedy, dark social commentary, and a slight touch of romance. Eastwood is convincing as the radical realist cop who cares nothing for pretense, and seeing him both mellow and return to raw form is a wonderful cinematic field trip.

It may be the fifth installment in the series, but it still manages to be fairly watchable. I was surprised to see Neeson and Carrey before they became mainstays. This one may be a bit over the top and fails somewhat because of it, but it's worth it just to see a man killed with a harpoon gun.

Not as many great lines for Dirty Harry in this one and more like a horror movie than an action, but still entertaining.

The Dead Pool is definitely the weakest, dullest and most bizarre addition in the Dirty Harry series. And it was sadly a poor and forgettable ending for such an iconic character. The star quality of Clint Eastwood is the only thing this film has to boast about. But stupidity tarnishes what was once such a classy film series. The remote control car, harpoon gun and Kung Fu sidekick are infuriatingly bad. The highlight however is a cameo from a young Jim Carry lip syncing 'Welcome to the Jungle'.

Eastwood was way too old for the role by this time, embarrassingly so. Doing this allowed him to make _Bird_, however, so it's all good

The one Dirty Harry film that was lost in translation. It seems time did take its toll on Harry Callahan (as well as the production staff). The language and the 'random naked people' scenes that peppered the earlier movies did not return. It simply lacked the Dirty Harry feel. The series was best ended with Sudden Impact.

This Dirty Harry outing has an all star cast: Clint Eastwood, Patricia Clarkson, Liam Neeson and Jim Carrey. There are a few moments that get a little silly in this movie but overall I enjoyed it. If you are a fan of the Dirty Harry movies then you should check this one out.

If there was any guilty pleasure to be gleaned from the first two Dirty Harries, as movie franchises go, by number five it's lost all reason to exist. There are young Liam Neeson and Jim Carrey in minor roles, and the silly car chase where the chaser is a remote-controlled toy car is a curiosity, but most aspects of the film range from banal (like the premise) to very awkward (like the Chinese sidekick who gets to display his martial arts skills for about five seconds in the whole movie).

Why is the killer's face hidden when he's absolutely nobody to the rest of the movie? We could see him and its no reveal, he's not a character. That's Dead Pool for you, From the team that brought you the sequel to Every Which Way But Loose. Nobody but Eastwood/Neeson/Carey completists would be watching this if clints character's name wasn't Harry Callahan. 3 and 4 of the series werent great but still recognizable as Dirty Harry...this is amateur.

And lo, the Dirty Harry franchise completes its full transition from gritty cop drama to out-and-out slapstick comedy. With a young Jim Carrey cameo to boot. It's actually better than the previous two instalments: well-paced, fairly easy to watch and has the odd memorable scene (the RC car chase being one), but I fear much of my enjoyment sat with the sick schadenfreude felt at what's become of Clint's character and the series.

Sadly, the last Dirty Harry is also the weakest. It's more of a late 80's thriller which just happens to have Harry solving the case with some media critique thrown in the mix. Van Horn's direction is serviceable at best and Clint is acting on autopilot. It was fun to see early turns by Neeson, Clarkson and Carrey, but none of them make much of an impression. The harpoon ending is like something out of a Cannon Films Charles Bronson flick. Not a BAD film, but the series deserved better.
