Well-made, somewhat engaging, but fatally overlong - 13 episodes is far too many when you're focusing on a single villain the entire time. Also, the po-faced atmosphere becomes tiresome after a while - someone, anyone, crack a joke! Kilgrave is da real MVP.

Huge pacing issues. The meandering narrative gets exhausting after a while. Perhaps because I find no one besides the villain interesting. It definitely feels plot heavy. In theory, this should be great. But the experience of actually watching it, with the consistently generic score, is a drag. But that's just one man's opinion.

The show has some good production written over it, but is hurt first by spreading the whole thing too thin with 13 episodes and second with all the dead weight of the feminism bullshit it is jam-packed with dragging behind. I mean, all this deconstructing of male tropes gets old real quick. Then it gets annoying and then you want to pick your eyes with a fork every time Jessica Jones pretends she's oh-so bad-ass when in fact everybody can see she's just a plain, regular nice ass.

To be honest, I think this show would have been considerably improved if they had cut it back to ten episodes instead of thirteen - I could feel them drawing things out and padding stories in the season's second half, and at least one subplot felt bizarrely out-of-nowhere to me. That said, it had a cool detective atmosphere to it, nicely understated action scenes and relatable stakes, and Kilgrave is hands-down the best MCU villain since Loki.

Such a unique character.. it is well written, well paced, well played but bad financed (the few effects look cheap) With Daredevil, it is one of Netflix's two achievments among it's Marvel properities..

Jessica Jones is disappointingly politically correct, and honestly too slow. The entire first season was spent attempting to overcome just one villain with no real subplots. And really the only hold ups to success being bitching and moaning about right and wrong and waiting for the justice system. Not what Jessica Jones is supposed to be.

Jessica Jones is a boring, unlikable, and uncharismatic protagonist with a supporting cast that's equally as drab. The plot meanders on for many episodes to the point of tedium, with the whole "sex & alcohol" schtick coming off as incredibly juvenile and poorly written. Jessica Jones is a slow, boring show to watch with very little pay off. At least the schlocky films had a good number of action scenes, this show doesn't even boast that.

The good part (the villain) is amazing, but the rest is shit and is drawn out to the point of pure snooze fest. With content for around 2-3 hours the total runtime of 13 hours was a chore to fight through, and I feel like I deserve a prize for finishing. Of all superheroes I hate Jones the most; her mopey teenager routine is anger inducing, and I have never rooted so much for the villain before.

I really enjoyed this. I'm genuinely surprised that the other reviewers thought it dragged on at times, I thought they paced it very well. The (season 1) villain is horrifying and the supporting characters were all very likeable. I liked it better than "Daredevil." They both have great production quality, DD is more like an action movie, this was more like a detective movie and much darker in my opinion. Watch both.

This show has excellent photography. The direction conveys mood incredibly well. Politically, I love the show's contempt for MRAs and its diversity of female characters and black characters. But I strongly dislike its clunky, inconsistent handling of mental illness, mental trauma, and rape. It feels trivializing. It doesn't help that the show has this obsessively gray morality, with Jessica almost as morally reprehensible as her adversary. I hope future episodes learn from this.

Poorly written and with a mostly mediocre cast, David Tennant is the only reason to watch. The "story" is filled with so many plot conveniences it feels like half the story just exists to justify the stupidity of the other half. Still, Tennant alone raises this to something that's at least worth checking out, just don't expect competent storytelling.

Jessica Jones somehow managed to be better than any live-action MCU properties by forgoing masturbatory action scenes and offering a percipient view into mental/physical trauma and rape. JJ is laden with broken noir characters (especially our protagonist), but it depicts them as fully rendered, complex people surviving morally gray situations. While having a cast of stellar actors and a superb anti-hero/villain combo is great, it shines due to its restraint, genre subversions, and feminism.

Surprisingly, Jessica Jones is probably the darkest we’ve seen a Marvel property get. It tackles a lot of things you don’t typically see in the Marvel sandbox and it makes the characters that much more engaging because unlike traditional super hero stories, the show has real life consequences for the characters to grow from, giving authenticity. Where it lacks in pacing and high impact action, it makes up for it with continually engaging story. I would love to see Ritter return to this.

Its first season was absolutely superb, the second one was a bit middling, but the third added a decent and satisfying ending to Jessica's adventures. Krysten Ritter in the lead is rock-solid casting and the themes explored in this series are quite severe, yet (mostly) handled with care. JJ makes for both a compelling superhero TV-show and a compelling drama. Just don't expect breakneck speed action, this is a different kind of superhero show. Props to the supporting cast as well.

S1: 85 | The first season is easily my favorite of the Netflix made MCU shows. Great cat-and-mouse thriller storyline, with a very interesting villain, and a great performance from David Tennant to make the already great villain even better. It could’ve done with less episodes, same as the other Netflix MCU shows, but it still never bored me. Despite the lower reception of the other seasons, I’ll check them out at some point.

She is such an unjustified, intolerable, self-pitying jerk who just spreads her soppy misery around. This is supposed to be some kind of role model? It seems so at times. They couldn't quite make up their minds and it didn't seem like deliberate nuance. Especially given the way everyone caters to her like she's worth catering to.

The actress from Apartment 23 is so good but this was so slooooowly paced. I don't watch superhero stuff for artsy, contemplative Antonioni stuff, give me sploshens!! Also, everyone thought the big bad was very interesting but to me when he was revealed he felt completely out-of-place with the sombre tone of the show. Like he accidentally wandered in from a completely different genre.

This show deserves recognition for just how incredible the first season is. This is very heavily due to David Tennant, who plays just an absolutely incredible villain, one of the best villains I've ever seen on screen. The second and third seasons are nowhere near as good, but Krysten Ritter is still good enough to keep it entertaining.

Season 1 of Jessica Jones is great. I think I genuinely enjoyed it more than all but the very best 3-4 films in the MCU. Seasons 2 and 3 are significantly less interesting. If this had been a one-off with David Tennant and Krysten Ritter, I would be calling it the best property Marvel had managed to make but the diminishing returns on the series hits hard once Killgrave (and the mature themes his character introduces) leaves the show.

"Jessica Jones" is superhero fare with its own personality. The cast is very good, with a perfect choice for the titular character in Krysten Ritter and a host of strong performances all around including a delicious David Tennant. All of the main characters carry their own weight, therefore one is interested in all of their separate arcs. Furthermore, the show strikes as particularly socially aware but in an organic, subtle manner. And of course the action and suspense keep you glued throughout.

One of the most solid of the Netflix Marvel shows all the way through. S1 awesome, S2 good, S3 good. Ritter is lovely as Jones, except the physicality of it just doesn't feel believable sometimes... but I think that's more of a production thing, not her fault. Falls victim to having an episode or two that kills the pacing (S3 had 2...), would have benefited from more interaction with other heroes.

Jessica Jones, like most of the Netflix Marvel shows, suffers from an staggeringly slow pace. Ritter is good at playing the anti-hero, but I didn't find the plot to be that engaging. Almost every plot device is often contrived and the dialogue can be frustrating at times. Tennant was great in S01. S02 was completely forgettable. The first half of S03 was good, the second half was a slog.

Season 2 update: Jessica Jones is the film noir flavored La Croix. I enjoy it well enough and some good things can be said, but it doesn't really taste like what it says it tastes like. Except maybe the grapefruit (i.e. pamplemousse). That's about as close as you'll get. It could be better but the writing has been getting sketchier and sketchier with all marvel netlix shows. Not as bad as Iron Fist, but if they don't turn it around soon I'll probably have to bail.

I'm still torn. Not sure if JJ is an attempt to get guys to watch a female lead under the guise of a superhero story, or to get girls to watch a superhero story under the guise of a female lead. I mean, she is not that feminine or girly, and her superpower to drink 24/7 is kind of far fetched, so it's a lose-lose. I dunno.

Feels a little bit stretched out in places, but each episode takes its time to examine themes of control and abuse rarely touched on by modern TV, and especially not in a genre show. Ritter plays the role of strong-but-damaged hero perfectly and Tennant is amazing as the villain.

The first season is fairly fantastic. There are bits that are good thereafter but none reach the heights of the first season's excellence. It's a shame her powers were almost never portrayed, and when they were the show was coy about them. But the first season is worthwhile for the psychosexual drama.

I have heard complaints about how much the stories in the show dragged, and while I can totally see that (and did feel it a bit at times), it didn't overshadow what this show did so well. The depictions of trauma and addiction is the one season of the show so far are not overdone and remain the elements that have stuck with me far after walking away from the screen.

Particolare e avvincente, molto carismatici i protagonisti. Nella seconda stagione però un calo drastico, né l'antagonista né la storyline erano all'altezza della scorsa e più volte mi sono annoiata. David Tennant is especially nasty and chilling as the villainous Kilgrave and Ritter displays enough remorse and angst to carry this show into territory seldom explored. The themes of this series are incredibly dark and macabre, which allows for emotional growth amongst the core set of characters. Jessica Jones delved far deeper into the psyche and how feeling helpless can lead to one making life changing decisions.

Season 1: Jessica Jones follows the hard-to-follow footsteps of Daredevil, and does so very well. While I find Daredevil the better show, Jessica Jones has a perfect cast led by Ritter, Colter, and especially Tennant. While the last two episodes feel a bit forced, the pacing was wonderful and writing very good throughout. While there were writing issues, they can be looked over, as Jessica Jones is entertaining to no end.

S1 - 'Jessica Jones' recaptures the same spirit that blends a grounded world and fantastic elements that made Netflix's 'Daredevil' so captivating. While it's held back by some subplots that distract from the story's main focus, the characters and their traumas leap from the screen thanks to the show's mature handling of topics such as PTSD and sexual abuse and some fantastic performances (notably from David Tennant as the villain, Kilgrave.)
