It's great to see the Bebop gang again, and the music and visuals are oh-so-cool as ever. However, the story is, by its very nature, unessential to the overall series - thus, basically an overlong filler episode. Best watched at the point where it falls within the series rather than afterwards. See you space cowboy.

A slicker version of a kinda regular Bebop episode. Looks and sounds so damn good, but it's a bit of a shame the plot wasn't more interesting.

It's not as good as the series, it seems to be lacking the wit and humor that made the show so good--this just feels like an extended episode, which in all honesty is probably the best way there was to approach a movie. Still, the animation is gorgeous and the climactic kung-fu battle is really nice. Gets my recommendation if you like the show, just don't expect much in the way of intellectual stimulation.

C.B. movie enters into the series about the 20th episode or so. That makes it the tone of the series, perhaps a long episode. However Watanabe knows the atmosphere and character gimmickry game pretty well.

If the series is a heady jazz classic, then this movie's a light pop riff on it.

Essentially an extended episode of the series. Better as an introduction to Cowboy Bebop than a postscript.

I'm not an anime fan by any means but I found this to be quite entertaining. The animation is very good and the story is far less convoluted than your average anime. I'm sure watching the TV show would give someone some backstory to the characters but I did not watch the TV before watching this and I didn't have any problems.

Lightfooted adaptation of the show, carefully weaving a dense plotline into the framework for a conventionally pleasing action adventure. Thrillingly cinematic.

Indicative of the problem I have with a lot of anime; too much reliance and importance placed on style over story.

While it was basically an extended episode of the main series, this is not a problem. I am already a huge fan of the series and characters and was only happy to see them one more time. Steve Blum is badass and the story resonates well with me. Was a nice look back definitely, though I guess I could have wished for a little more. I felt happy afterwards.

A potluck of elements from the series, and it would have been mediocre as a two-parter. The convenience store robbery feels like Bebop, but the rest is on shakier ground. All the same, having waited forever to finally watch this, it was nice to get a 'new' shot of CB, even if it left me wanting. Given the epic (untoppable) close of Real Folk Blues and its 'carry that weight' coda, I'm happier imagining The Movie as a "Toys in the Attic" bottle.

Watch the series first. In the Cowboy Bebop timeline, the movie fits right before the final episode. Besides, if you don't like the series, you won't like the movie.

More Cowboy Bebop can't be a bad thing. Just wish that it had a little bit more ambition to it. Kinda just felt like an extended episode, which like I said isn't a bad thing per se. More for fans of the anime than casual moviegoers. The series though is definitely worth watching in its entirety.

An excellently directed and animated film based on the series. Although the cronology of the event (movie) is hard to place in the series cronology, it's obvious it takes place before the final episode in the series. It's filled with amazing scenes, just like the TV series.

Not worthy of the series. Felt like Spike & Co. were underused, and could have been replaced by anyone else without seriously affecting the plot. They just stumbled into someone else's film, which already had a hero and villain.

The only drawback to this movie are the annoying filler cops, other than that, holy goddamn wow. Has everything anyone could ask or want from a Cowboy Bebop movie, a sci fi movie, or hell, just a movie. As with the series, all of the action sequences are great, especially the ones in the last act. Yoko Kanno really kicked it into overdrive for the soundtrack, perhaps producing her finest work ever... which is saying a lot.

While the television show is one of my all time favorites (a show I consider to be the animated version of Firefly, though it preceded Firefly). The movie lacked a little of what made the show so great. With the show we are treated to a mission a week style where the movie had to remain constrained to its one plotline. Still had some great stuff though.

A nice addition to the stylish series that birthed it. Better animation, the same high standards of music and beloved characters make this essential for Bebop fans, however as a standalone picture for the uninitiated, this is would be pure nonsense with a few fight scenes and baffling dialogue. However, as a fan, I loved almost every moment of the flick and certainly wouldn't mind if they made another.

I hate anime. Hate it. But like Studio Ghibli I have an inexplicable weakness for this particular stuff. It's calm for anime (no dynamic poses, speedlines, physical impossibilites), but still very intense. Everything's cool; the backgrounds are superbly drawn and combined with the deceptively simple character designs it's the perfect recipe to draw you in and lose two hours.

Like a long episode of the show, it wanders in the plot but it was nice to see that Spike isn't totally invincible.. Crowd scenes and of course the soundtrack are superb as well as the flow/angle and style of the fight scenes, these last two aspects however are typical of Bebop and are the major factors that make it such great show in the first place. I'm excited to see what they do with the Live Action, whether or not Reeves can pull of the sly Spike mannerisms.

Great sound design and some occasionally awesome visuals. But watching this movie with no knowledge of the show I never got invested in these characters or their world, mainly because most of the leads felt underused and the villain was just plain boring in that way only Anime villains seem to be able to get away with.

Based on same titled animated tv-series. Anime art and animations are huge success and Cowboy Bebop was pretty famous before movie was made. The animation is first class and story a bit too "american". I definitely like to see more from that Bebop crew.

First-rate anime functions as a terrific crime thriller and action movie in its own right – with a mid-film action sequence on a tram car which is as exciting and nail-biting as any comparable action scene, live action or otherwise! Has a great feel for its world – the sweaty desperation of the street-life, the rampant and casual brutality of urban violence (shades of ROBOCOP here). Much less self-serious than others of its ilk and genuinely gripping and entertaining.

Good follow-up (or in-between) to the series. Watch after the series episode where meet Ed (better character understanding). Didn't like as much as the series but it's interesting. One major innovation is the film's visuals. Stunning & definitely an improvement. Musically? Tad disappointing. The ending theme "Gotta Knock a Little Harder" by The Seatbelts featuring Mai Yamane, is nicely done. Obviously, I like the series better (to be fair, watched series first.) Worth a watch.

It's a lot bigger in scale and more cinematic than the series, but also a lot slower. While I really like the fact that it's not just a 2 hour episode of the series and really alters the tone quite a bit, it has a tendency to drag at points. Ultimately though, it's a very good companion to one of the best anime series ever made.
