Determined to keep Annabelle from wreaking more havoc, demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren bring the possessed doll to the locked artifacts room in their home, placing her "safely" behind sacred glass and enlisting a priest's holy blessing. But an unholy night of horror awaits as Annabelle awakens the evil spirits in the room, who all set their sights on a new target--the Warrens' ten-year-old daughter, Judy, and her friends. I've got lots of stupid complaints about "character choices" which completely overshadow Dauberman's (and the Conjuring Universe as a whole) aesthetics. The mood here is juvenile at best and the use of color especially makes me want to care less. The scene in the kids bedroom with the 4 different colors has already vanished from my memory. I think this is where I lost it a bit but shallow evil spirits (the werewolf) are especially bad. CCU>>MAGA. kek.

This just feels weird. After the forgettable original, and flawed, but much better "Annabelle: Creation" I expected to see this franchise continue to take positive steps. Instead, this feels less tension filled and more watered down. It actually seems like it has some moments of goofy and gimmicky tropes it really goes for. I can't tell if it was going for that, but it certainly feels different than the second and actually attempts something unlike the first. I think that's good...

Not really a fan of the Annabelle films BUT I feel like this one is the best of all so far

Another predictable disappointment from The Conjuring Crew, fresh off the line of their rusty conveyor belt. Dauberman joins a growing list of B league journeymen wandering aimlessly through this increasingly bland homogeneous world. They have really overplayed their hand, and this is no exception, relying on cheap jump scares with overly drawn out set ups and dim lighting that's mostly lacking in artistry. The plot feels arbitrary, and frights are few, but it passes the time. For now.

it has a great atmosphere, just like every other movie from the conjuring universe, but that's not enough to salvage a... mediocre plot? I mean, I'm not sure it can even be called a plot since there isn't much of a story. Anyway, the direction is good, and the acting is pretty on point, but I can't help it but feel dissapointed.

Any stupid complaints you can have about "character choices" and story are completely overshadowed by Dauberman's (and the Conjuring Universe as a whole) aesthetics. The mood here is perfect and the use of color especially makes this particularly frightening. The scene in the kids bedroom with the 4 different colors on the light is stunning. Where they lose it a bit is when they show you the evil spirits in depth (the werewolf is especially bad). CCU>>MCU

It's well made but incredibly dumb as are the characters and their decisions.

I liked it more than the first Annabelle, even. It gets a bit silly with all the spirits and a werewolf and a samurai and all that stuff, but at least it's refreshing and there are some creepy moments in here. The three girls are a lot of fun when set against the spirits and there's this cameo with the Warrens, too, although a cameo is the most I'd call it. Not amazing, but it was okay. The doll is just not scary, not like she was in The Conjuring.

This is the first Conjuring chapter that didn't really work for me & it's not because it stars teens. These teens were not the horny idiots that star in too many horror movies. The problem is that I felt throughout the film that no one was going to die. Why did I feel this? I'm not sure but I certainly knew the Warren's daughter - & their house - was going to be okay so stakes weren't very high. A CGI werewolf that does nothing more than eat a chicken was also a huge mistake.

Enjoyable, well-crafted entry in the now venerable series/universe will hold no surprises for devotees; while the first half does a reliable job of establishing an unsettling atmosphere of dread, the second half does fall in to a series of jump scares which will likely be more or less effective the more inclined you are to be taken in by them (raises hand). Well performed by the three heroines, who create a likable enough group; Farmiga and Wilson's brief appearance adds some class and gravitas.

I liked that this was embedded in the conjuring universe. I thought the girls were cute. The rest of the film was quite bad. I don't like horror movies.

Lol this is like the YA Goosebumps version of the Conjuringverse or something. Presence of Patrick Wilson & Vera Farmiga in the beginning links it more cohesively to the main series than other spinoffs.

This is less about the doll and more like an all-star squad of other spirits. So if you like to see a collection of evils in one place this might be for you. Otherwise, this film is "fine" but it feels a little pointless in that it doesn't really do anything significant in any direction.

I kinda preferred the teen romcom subplot to the horror main plot. There was just so much sheit going on horror-wise. Too many antagonists that had been the main antagonists in previous installations, demoted to cameos in ACH. If the movie had held back with the unleashing of the whole ensemble of villains and only brought them into play in the final act (like as an ultimate shit-fan-hitting), it would've worked so much better. Now there was just too much chaos from the midpoint til the finale.

Annabelle Comes Home is a funhouse movie. It missed all the tension and nuance The Conjuring is known for. If nothing else, it's more joyfully entertaining, if not quite as good.

This movie is lucky that I really, really, really like collections of bizarre and horrible artifacts, because that Daniela character is like every dumb teenager in every horror-movie ever rolled into one and it is a crying shame that she didn't get to answer that phone so her face could have melted off. But yeah, the artifact room was superneat.

Actually liked the first, second not as great but still enjoyed, this however, pure gimmicky scooby doo bullshit. A huge dramatic plummet from the first two.

Really fun movie and the main characters played their parts pretty well. A lot of creepy moments here as well with the color changing room and the mirror television standing out. However, this whole movie wouldn't have happened based on one character decision which causes me to lower my score. Also, werewolves...really?

Not being deeply invested in the Warrenverse, I saw this as a disposable, one-off 'scary sleepover' movie and enjoyed it in that sense. Given the period elements, ACH could have slotted in between "Don't Go To Sleep" and "This House Possessed" back in the day; that corny movie of the week on ABC where the Feeley Meeley box will predictably grab for a vulnerable ankle to prompt a shrieky antiphon. The pizza guy was worth a chuckle, and it piled on from there.

Like the first installment in the ANNABELLE franchise, there's an incredible lack of passion for horror techniques, both relying heavily on stereotypes, tropes, and cheap jump scares instead of sitting down and truly conjuring up a solid idea of what frightens its audience, like in Annabelle: Creation

Good scares. There's really only one character that you feel invested in, but there are several in the story...not sure if that's good or bad. This is a solid entry in the Conjuring universe though. Perhaps a bit predictable in today's horror lineup? Solid popcorn flick.

Okay, so Wan was my fav. Horror producer, but now he has lost all originality and element of surprise. Anabelle series, the conjuring series.. its getting old and boring.

Annabelle Comes Home (2019) ended up being the only film I saw in July '19. And in the cinema too, which is rare for me. This is basically a comedy horror. All about teasing us. One set-up after the other, trying to fool the audience when the jump scare is coming. It's an average good-spirited horror which did cheer me up alright, even if not a all-time great at anything.
