Ah, city college... Where would the horror genre be without you? Remember that class on urban legends you took your sophomore year? You know, the one taught by Freddy Kruger with a bunch of cool slides? Jared Leto sat behind you and picked his nose while Rebecca Gayheart jotted down in her trapper keeper a master plan to convert her curly perm into a starring role on a future season of House. Those were the best days of our lives. Sing it, Bryan Adams!

Scream-lite. Watchable enough, but doesn't bring anything novel to the party. One of the slayings did tickle me, but I'm not convinced someone swanning around in a parka jacket is particularly scary.

I'll always remember when my classmate/neighbor scared the bejesus out of me with the "Humans Can Like Too" urban legend in 2nd grade. Although this entry into the post-"Scream"(1996) slasher revival may be a generic bore to most, I've got a soft spot in my heart for this movie, as well as the whole franchise...unfortunately. Maybe it's the urban legend gimmick, maybe it's nostalgia, or maybe it's just a guilty pleasure, but I enjoy this standard 90's slasher fare well enough for it is.

Standard pretty 30 year old teens get killed movie.

The key to reevaluating this is that just like we don't expect every horror movie to be a slasher, logically not every slasher should be judged as a horror movie. Taking away the slightest little expectation of being scared, unsettled or even slightly perturbed by... anything at all in this, and you're left with a dumb but entertaining flick with a villain who clearly has a ton of fun with the role and Alicia Witt visibly trying to remember David Lynch's phone number in every scene.

The stretch to involve urban legends in the kills stretched even further than that kid that lived a town away from me that stretched a Stretch Armstrong too far and the arm snapped and took out his eye.

There were a few kills that did not appear to be based on urban legends. Suspension of disbelief GONE!

Suffers from too slick 90s obnoxiousness but it's all forgiven with the goth girls goth chat room. Honey we are all on a similar dark path.

All these stupid slasher movies play out in exactly the same way. People are murdered, main character has theory about murders, no one else believes main character, more people are murdered, still no one believes main character, then there's a-- oh to hell with it, you all know how it goes. It's formulaic tripe, and it's more often unintentionally funny than it's scary.

Urban Legend is standard slasher fare. Young adults get killed off in a number of gruesome ways. The theme that is supposed to make this unique: the deaths are emulations of famous urban legends, is really nothing different than the variety of death scenes in other films of the sort. If a slasher flick is what you want, go for something like Final Destination, which has at least marginally higher worth. Total crap!

A dead teenager yawnfest of the most by-the-numbers kind, no imagination is to be found and no real reason to watch it if you've ever seen teenagers get slashed before.

Ridiculous. Not only does the killer explain everything at the end, but aforementioned killer has a slideshow already prepared as a visual aid

Now this is a film that should find it's audience later. It has all the elements of a cheesy 90's teen horror flick (30-year-olds playing college students, dumb f*ing students, annoyingly predictable plot) mashed together in such a way that it becomes a parody of the genre - although probably not meant as such. And the opening scene with the "there's someone in the backseat!" is actually quite brilliant. Oh yeah and Joshua Jackson in the ugliest f*ing hairdo ever!

Elements of Scream reappear in a vastly inferior vehicle.

Remember how Scream played with tropes in horror? So did Jamie Blanks and Silvio Horta.

No worse than other movies of the same sort of premise, perhaps a little better than average. Well made and keeps you entertained throughout. Smart casting mixing the seasoned horror vet Englund with a fairly young cast.
