Ridiculously fun updating of the classic Sherlock Holmes stories. Led by breakout star Cumberbatch, it has one of the best casts and most intelligent writing of any TV show today.

Well cast and slickly made but tonally jarring, weirdly paced and very hit and miss with the modern interpretations of classic mysteries. Plenty of great entertaining moments and a couple of great episodes but too much ridiculousness overall, especially in the 3rd series. Some episodes would warrant a much higher score though.

First episode and a couple of others are okay, nothing amazing. I find both Cumberbatch and Gatiss far too much in love with themselves, especially when the novelty wears off. Some of the later eps are ridiculous, the sister one is practically Darkplace material.

Its two best episodes, "A Study in Pink" and "A Scandal in Belgravia," could be stacked up with most any TV from the last ten years. Many of its other episodes, far less so. For a show that's only aired nine episodes over half a decade its tricks and tropes have become weirdly predictable. Guess that's what happens when you're widely imitated.

It was a firm favourite and in the 80-85 region in terms of a score and then Season 4 happened. It's still good and I can't bring myself to score it lower than a T10 but it's failing to keep me as invested as it used to.

Sherlock is as close to a perfect show as you get. The performances of leading men Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman are perfect for their roles, and the way crimes are solved is not only genius, but also perfect.

While interesting and captivating, it's also terribly written, which is a shame for a show centered on its mystery and thus its writing. As the show goes on, seasons get worse and worse, to a point where it becomes legitimately unbearable to watch.

(S1-3) Sherlock the character sadly moved further towards "insufferable" and away from "interesting" during the latter seasons. Sherlock the show sadly tries to outdo itself every episode (the wedding being a notable exception), which culminates in a weak villain being presented as "the most dangerous man in the world ever, ever" in the final episode. It's still occasionally entertaining as escapism, but not as interesting as I hoped it would be.

Reasonably diverting update of a classic formula with a horrid fanbase and diminishing returns as the seasons go on. The best episode among those I saw would have to be the one where Sherlock meets Irene Adler. The sparks were really flying between them, to the extent that the ending (which would have been out-of-character for Sherlock otherwise) was strangely appropriate and satisfying. It was some time ago that I watched the episodes so I might feel differently about them now.

There have been so many Sherlock Holmes adaptations but this manages to be different and fresh.Sherlock is a great show, everything from the directing,the writing and the editing is top notch.Cumberbatch and Freeman are at the top of their game and their chemistry is incredible while also being hilariously funny.Despite a sub-par 4th season it still a brilliantly crafted show with memorable moments and a beautifully insane villain.
