Catchy Dolly Parton song. Nice Sterling Hayden cameo. The '80s office pool resembled a '60s one but the culture still seems familiar today. The boss was bad to begin with, but I think they made him more of a Disney villain as the movie went along. Wikipedia says Ronald Reagan enjoyed the film but clutched his pearls at the pot scene and won't somebody please think of the children. Fuck him (as if he'd never done anything in Hollywood). Fav scene: photocopier spitting out paper at Jane Fonda.

Rewatching 9 to 5 in the wake of #metoo is depressing for two reasons: One, that it's still relevant, and two, that the actual plot really hasn't aged that well - once we move on from the brilliant setup, it becomes a 20-minute skit stretched to 80. Tomlin, Parton and Fonda still keep it together, but it could have been so much sharper.

If it weren't for the incredible amounts of 80's cheese this could actually be a decent film.

One of the great films from my childhood - probably because of the cartoon sequence where Lily Tomlin is about to poison Dabney Coleman. Sad what we remember, huh?

Definitely cute. Dolly Parton and Jane Fonda are quite fun in these roles, and most of the movie is still surprisingly relevant, 40 years later. A lot of it can come off a little too slapstick for me, but I'm not gonna knock this movie that hard. It's 9 to 5, for chrissakes.

The 3 leads have good chemistry together and they all give fun performances in this film. The script is fun and has some moments that are not predictable. Overall I would recommend this film.

Not exactly what I was expecting! No one ever mentioned the weed-induced dream sequences. I like that the film focuses on the women solely as individuals and doesn't spend a whole lot of time exploring their family/spousal situations (I think they had one scene each with the family/spouse). It's a fun little story, and it's certainly distinctive as far as women-driven films go. But it could have been better - especially since it's not very funny.

Cheesy 'girl power' comedy flick. Some laughs, but most of this is ridiculous and utterly lacking in substance (as expected).

A pretty funny, albeit very dated, take on the almost criminal injustices that plagued American offices in the wake of women's liberation. That poor man, taken in and tormented by those drug-crazed ladder-climbing women. Tragic.

It might be apt that the funniest performance in the film is by Dabney Coleman, who plays unfair, chauvinistic company superior Hart. Hart is a fun bad guy, a bird-brained horndog so in the throes of his trifling infatuations that he's not beyond knocking his pencils on the floor so he can peep Parton picking them up on her hands and knees, her cleavage showing. There's some message sent by the fact that the biggest laughs in this feminist candygram hinge on wholehearted, unashamed sexism.

Stereotypically early 80s work environment for a woman. It's a cheesy flick, but generally watchable and a fair giggle for its time.

A fun caper with a strong backbone and no fear; draws attention to issues that still face us today with a rare and admirable forwardness.

I am sure this movie was much more poignant when it came out, but the message of the movie is no less salient today; women should be respected in the workplace. Lily Tomlin really shows her cute, witty humor in this film. Her humor is contrasted by the more stuck up Jane Fonda. While Dolly Parton shines in the background as the fun, big titted older sister that every guy wanted to hang around. Dabney Coleman does a great job of playing the object of their hatred in this fun comedy.

Frustrating satire of the workplace is five star brilliance for the first half, making many pertinent and observant points about the office workplace, shot through with feminist sensibilites, and maintaining a delightful light touch. But then the screenplay makes a disasterous turn towards absurd farce, and loses any touch with reality and all of its sharp focus. Chief assets are the wonderful performances from the starring trio, and support from ever reliable Coleman as the boss.

The cast is very awesome and I certainly always enjoy the kind of comedies where one thing snowballs into a huge mess of misunderstandings, coincidences and wrong (and sometimes right) decisions. Having such an awesome trio of women using their wits and talents to outsmart a huge asshole is great. It did drag on in some places and I feel like it could have moved faster, which is why I was left with it a mediocre rating.

Hilarous! All the actors contribute to a crazy comedy which is based on a real & persistant issue. Even certified MCP's will enjoy the plot and the targets of the humor. Tomlin, Fonda and Parton share the spotlight well. A great popcorn Saturday night rental.

This film, which finds its roots in the Greek myth of Lysistrata, feels very uninspired and in many ways is an embarassing womans rights protest that goes entirely too far over the top. Sure the message they were trying to deliver is a good one but its attempt to be conveyed fails with flying colors.

Light hearted and lightweight. A simple story and uncomplicated plot but good performances from the three leads. Not a great film one to watch when you've got the flu but don't make a special effort.

One can almost imagine this as Golden Girls: The Early Years. From this cloud of unrestrained estrogen, Dabney Coleman walks off with the movie easily.

DVD Obras-primas do cinema Sessão anos 80 Volume 4.

This is an engaging comedy that works more because of who is on the screen than for any of the writing. All three lead performances are good, especially Dolly Parton in her film debut. Dabney Coleman is equally great as the loathsome boss. The film was daring in 1980, not so much now, which is an issue since it leans a little too heavily on the reaction it hopes to get and less on jokes and a plausible plot.

Here you can see a perfectly fine, lifelike workplace comedy with three adorable, spunky actresses going completely off the rails at the 35 min mark. It wouldn't be more forgivable had this farce been shit from the start, but you wouldn't feel the loss of wasted potential.
