In 1997, somewhere in Germany, amateur moviemaker (and all around nice guy) Uwe Boll watched this movie and realized his purpose in life: To make a computer game movie as good as this... As fate would have it, this young man ended up making several computer game movies, all better than this...

One cannot appreciate true cinema, until they set their eyes on this classic. Annihilation is one of the worst movies out there... which makes it so fantastic. It's fun and lovable in the worst way possible, even to a fan of the series. Don't doubt me, just give it a try. It. Is. Wonderful.

As a believer that the MK1 was an entertaining film, I consider this one of the worst movie sequels ever. Annihilation has some of the cheesiest special effects on film. The cool and kind of realistic martial arts from the original are replaced by, well, more cheesy special effects. Decent actors and decent characters have been replaced by a rag tag bunch of weirdoes playing a ragger tag bunch of weirdoes, and the plot is so out of this world that it hurts to think about. Utter crapulence!

Fan favourite characters get killed off in seconds for no reason other than shock value. Action is on par with that of a low budget fantasy TV show. Soundtrack is somewhat decent and can be a decent time if you intend to watch with some friends who can point and laugh at how bad it is.

Now for a compliment with a better backhand than anything seen in this film – “better than Part 1”. Feels more like an extended episode from a 90s teen TV show than a full fledged movie, but is comparatively lighter on its feet than the first film, with some mildly impressive fight choreography, if that’s your thing. If you’re not caught up on the lore, it’s an easier watch than Part 1 as well, functioning better as mindless entertainment. It could have been much worse!

Yeah, the effects are just unbearable -- specially the creature design. But hey, fights don't look that bad -- that one with Raiden against Kahn's acolytes is pretty cool -- and in a way it seems as goofy and cheesy as the games. The realm-merging thing seems incredibly underdeveloped, as we never get the sense that Earthrealm is really in a bad situation. I was glad to know Tony Jaa did stunts for Shou in this one. And I just love Remar showing his new look.

Even fans of the franchise would hate this movie. It is an assault on taste. I took some notes on this movie while I was watching it. Here they are - The costumes are terrible. The special effects are terrible. The acting is terrible. I'm five minutes in to this movie. The sphere vehicles are so stupid. WTF? I hate myself enough that I finished this movie. The final fight between Shao Khan and Liu Kang's animalities was horrific - even for the time. The CG was an assault on the audience's eyes

Where the first Mortal Kombat film I deemed "aight" this stands in stark contrast as a miserable pile of shit. The only parts that weren't shit were how hilarious Brain Thompson was as Shao-Khan (including the horribly misfitting mask he wore) and the Mortal Kombat main theme song, which isn't really a product of this movie, it's just in it.

Nowhere near as good as the flick two years previous to this. The huge downfall is the acting, the characters are all basically characters with no life to them. The only decent one was Shou. The action/fighting scenes are also quite sub-par.

It is unbelievable that this film even made it out of the gate. The effects are terribly realized, The story is awful, the acting is barely even up to cardboard cutout standards, and the editing of the fight scenes does nothing to hide the lazy construction and lazy (if any) choreography.

How to make a sequel to a bad film? Well, make it worse. While the first Mortal Kombat is entertaining and to some (including me) a guilty pleasure, it's not a good film. But this film takes "shitty" to a whole new level. The acting is horrendous, the story sounds like it was written by a five-year old, ... It actually hurt my eyes by how bad this thing even looked. Let's just put a bag over it's head, throw it in the basement and forget it ever existed.

I watched this back to back with MK1, while MK2 starts off as MK1 ends, the continuity is laughable. Some of the characters change actors but instead of a giant face appearing in the sky, it's now some bloke in a half-skull mask. Soon after we are presented with the Velospheres, a network of tunnels that bore all the way through earth to enable you to get anywhere in a metal hamster ball. We see them once in the whole film, they are never spoken of again. Let us do the same with this film.

It's so hard to understand how they can make a shitty movie about Mortal Kombat. There's many interesting characters, there's another realm and it's about fighting. There should be no limits to make a good action movie, but no! They ruin and rape everything that is good and at the end nobody wants to watch this. Either kids or adults.

"The fate of the Universe will be decided, as it should be, in--" "--MORTAL KOMBAAAT!" Wow. The first Mortal Kombat movie was no great work of art, but it is actually remarkable just how poorly Annihilation measures up to it. That a movie based on "a lot of characters fighting" could somehow shoot itself in the foot this much (turning the villain into a daddy's boy, having a subplot about Jax and his insecurities, the animalities, James Remar's Raiden, etc.) is baffling. 2019: Remar's OK.

Many people criticize the first one, but it was a masterpiece when compared to this filth. There is no trace of the originals charm or character, it's just a straight-up bad video game movie. The effects are made-for-TV worthy, and the dialogue and acting is even worse. The plot is forgettable, in the sense that I had to read the plot summary to even remember what it was about.

I only gave this a "2" because I reserved "1" for the one worst film I ever saw. This is the second worst film out of the 2,000 I've seen. VIDEO GAMES DO NOT BY DEFAULT MAKE GOOD MOVIES. I want a time machine, not so I can go back and prevent Pearl Harbor or 9/11, but so I can go back and stop this from being made.

One thing this movie improves on over the previous film is they keep the story moving. Fight scenes happen as the characters journey to stop two worlds from merging. This gives a more satisfying story just sitting around, waiting for the next fight to be arranged. That said, the acting's still nothing special and the effects (especially the CG "animality" effects) are laughable. But, there's plenty of action that will likely satisfy the target audience: fans of the plotless video games series.
