They gave out tickets to a free screening of this movie when I was in college. All you had to do was apply for a credit card. So essentially, this movie screwed people over in more ways than just sucking.

If you're considering watching this then you already know it's a stupid teen comedy with a predictable plot, silly lowbrow jokes and tits, quite a few tits. As far as those go, it's an ok enough time waster, and hey, it has tits.

A couple of laughs here and there but nothing too memorable. Laughs are composed of slapstick comedy and bathroom humor, if you don't like that then stay away. Even if you do like that brand of humor you might want to avoid this one, it's really nothing special.

Rewatching this film for the first time in maybe fifteen years the other day, I was struck with the shocking realization that, seventeen years after its release, I'm pretty sure Amy Smart's topless scene here is the very last time that the main female character has ever done nudity in a mainstream wide-release raunchy comedy. That aside, it's an amusingly watchable teen sex comedy about on par with American Pie 2. I just wanted to share that realization with the class.

Oh man when they try to jump the car that was good. Tom Green really isn't the star of this movie. Amy Smart had an oscar worthy performance in this.

It plays like an amusingly flawed and dated slacker road movie, specially for its typical early 00s material -- a sex tape sent by mail, Amy Smart, Breckin Meyer and tons of Farrellys-ish sexist and racist jokes, most of them not quite working. But it stands out for having 24's Chloe as this naive blind girl who takes cares of school buses and has one of them robbed by Scott and Phillips himself as a feet licker.

Stiffler. Breckin Meyer. Tom Green. I can just imagine the pitch meeting. "See, it's going to be like 'American Pie' on a road trip. Hey, we could even call it that." "Gentlemen, we're sold. You got yourselves a god damned deal."

At the time this was viewed somewhat poorly as the crasser, edgier counterpart to American Pie, both of which had buttoned-down conservatives frothing. Particularly with the early incarnation of Tom Green being shoe-horned in pretty awkwardly, to the benefit of neither. It's funny how the years have mellowed it considerably. It seems pretty quaint now, not particularly controversial, even sweet in parts. As a throwback movie this is a fun trip back to much simpler if not entirely innocent times.

Funny for teenagers aged between fifteen and up. Every year after nineteen and especially so after college years, people will totally forget about this sleeper teen comedy. The humor just fails to apply to people past that age range. I don't think that bothers that filmmakers though, so all is well. Meh!

This film was billed as American Pie on wheels, so expectations were always going to be high. It doesn't quite match up to that standard, lacking the soft gooey centre, but succeeds in its own right as a dynamic, raucous film with plenty of laughs.

Phillips' lays the foundations for all of his future films. Despite the heavy focus of most of the ads, Tom Green is only a peripheral character. Ask anyone what they remember about this film, and it's Tom Green putting the mouse in his mouth. Breckin Meyer may be the blandest leading man of all-time.

Road Trip's mundane premise, extreme vulgarity, and a number of jokes that just don't work should make it an unattractive choice for a smart, funny comedy, but there's a healthy dose of inventive absurdity here and some genuinely clever moments. The decision to add in shock comedian Tom Green at first seemed unnecessary, but his role in the narrative just augments the absurdity and fits this oddball sex comedy well. Road Trip sufficiently prophesizes Phillips' comedic magnum opus, The Hangover.
