If this had ended after three seasons, I'd have given it 10 and labelled it my favorite TV comedy of all time. As is, despite one jarring off season and the last two years leaking cast members, I deeply, passionately love those first three. From other timelines to paintball to Christmas musicals to bottle episodes to meta dinners to zombies to pillow forts to 8-bit videogames to MeowMeowBeenz to D&D and Troy & Abed, this is a creative, ambitious masterpiece of the sitcom format. Cool cool cool.

For me this is easily one of the best sitcoms of all time. Much like in "The Office" all of the characters work extremely well together, even Chevy Chase (who created a giant shit show behind the scenes) The background characters are also some of the most endearing and memorable of any show, (Leonard, Star-Burns, Fat Neil, Garrett) reminiscent of Scrubs. Dan Harmon's writing is top notch here as the jokes fly by you a mile a minute. Even the "gas leak" season was great. Paintball anyone?

There's a lot to like about 'Community' despite its fairly wild fluctuations in quality. When it hits its highs they they are very high indeed. It suffers in later seasons with the loss of Chevy and Glover and a stretch for ideas.

Season 2 of Community is probably the best single season of any sitcom I've ever seen. I've never seen another show that has so consistently provided laughs and intelligent story-writing than when Community was at its best. But even at it's worst, with the creator being kicked out off his own team due to creative differences and a hemmorhaging of cast members, it was still smart, witty and a very solid comedy, even if never did quite recapture the glory of its past.

(S1) I don't get it. None of the characters are likable (except Abed) or funny. The way Shirley talks is a terrible and irritating choice. Why is the amount of pop culture references made, the measure of quality with modern sitcoms? Does it make people feel smart to remember movies they've seen? Does it make people feel connected that a show they grew up with is being mentioned/parodied? I just watch sitcoms to laugh, and I never did. It passes the time, like staring at a fluorescent light.

Community is the epitome of a network sitcom, not because it is flawless (it very much isn't), but because it treats its audience with respect, inviting them to join in on an exploration of geekdom. The characters may be stereotypes but they represent parts of Harmon's psyche and are not immune to growth. The jokes are clever, the emotional moments hit home and it's as self-aware as it is innovative.

This is by far my favorite tv show. Community has some of the best comedic and relative writing I've seen ever. I still pick up on new things to this day. I can go through this series pretty much every year and still laugh my ass off. I applaud Dan Harmon for this alone because even though the series kind of fell off after season 3, I love every character and them alone carried the show through its rough times. This show deserved more success than it got.

There are some weak seasons in this run that drag the score down, but the high points should be defended to the death as some of the most genuinely smart and funny and sweet moments on television. Danny Pudi should have won piles of awards for his performance.

The first few seasons hit some seriously high highs. The Troy/Abed friendship is one of TV's best. But then it goes so far off the rails it's hard to even believe it's the same show by the end. A hard one to rate overall, but definitely worth watching.

i havent been truly happy since i binge watched this, specifically the first 3 seasons, during early covid. now that the honeymoon period is over its hard to call this perfect, and not just due to cast and crew leaving. i never liked the way that some of the main ensemble are just so one dimensional compared to others, even becoming worse as it goes on (britta...). s2+3 have a lot of highlights but most of my comfort viewing now is s1.

Loved the first half of the first season. Then it got incredibly silly as of the episode about bullies that ended in a snowball fight, and after 5 episodes, still hadn't recovered. So we gave it a miss. But those who love it are in the finest company. Seems like all the best people adore it.

The show treats the viewer with respect in a totally aloof way. Take the Beetlejuice joke... any other show would've made him to come inside and say "You rang?!" kinda thing. Community does not do such a thing because they want you to find and earn that joke. But.. they don't even zoom at the character, it's actually blurry. So at the same time they don't care. The weirdest tv show ever.

The subversive humour of the first three seasons, along with the great cast and character chemistry are what makes "Community". The fourth season just feels off, slightly forced even, and the show never fully recovers after that. Its formula - the episodes' identical structure - is increasingly obvious during those last seasons, which, unaided by the cast changes, don't feel that natural. The challenging, original, thought-provoking first three seasons are what "Community" should be lauded for.

Seasons 1-6: Honestly, even in it's weak points, Community is among the strongest sit-coms I've had the pleasure of watching. Just the level of talent that graced the show on and off-screen is incredible. It pulls at your heart strings while gutpunching you for laughs. It's an incredible formula, a surprise that it worked, and all around an incredible time.

A few good lines but I just don't get the main character. After five minutes with him, I'd be making excuses to go somewhere else. I know he's written as dodgy but am I supposed to believe the other characters would flock around him? It has a patronising view of Asperger syndrome, and being a US show is of course obsessed with gender and ethnicity along the boundaries of sexist/racist jokes. Yes, you crossed it. And again.

A show that definitely pushed the boundaries of comedic story telling and approached nerd culture in a way Big Bang has only dreamed of doing, Community lost its traction a long the way after stars begin to depart and graduated characters felt over used. Dan Harmon is a genius and he continues to show us that. Community was fun, perhaps the gag just lasted a bit too long and the show went a little stale sitting on the shelf.

The "Community" is a group of misfits, rejects, burnouts, and loners who band together as a study group to make it through community college. The show is kind of Friends / The Big Bang Theory / That '70s Show / The I.T. Crowd, unfortunately, not quite as good as the four, but pretty damn close. It's common sense v.s. genius imbalanced on both sides by pure stupidity and hormones, the perfect recipe for good TV!
