Fantastic visuals. Absolutely fantastic. If nothing else anyone should be able to appreciate how beautiful the movie looks. The soundtrack is amazing and fits the movie perfectly. The entire cast is fantastic, especially Mickey Rourke as Marv. If you enjoy film noir then definitely check this one out.

I'm a comic fan damnit. Having said that, this is one of the most faithful adaptations EVER done from a comic book. It is literally a shot for shot adaptation actually. I thought the acting was great, and they captured the feel of the movie perfectly. The only real problem I had with the film is the fact that Jessica Alba refused to do the necessary things that her character does (you know what I'm talking about). If she doesn't wanna do those things, let another actress do them.

Just flat-out cool. The visuals are amazing, and the stories drip with testosterone and nihilism. This is film noir on steroids.

I've never seen a film shot quite like this, it looks as if it is straight off the pages of a comic book, shot in high contrast black and white with spashes of colour it is stylistically unrivaled. The collection of stories which pull together to make this film are enthralling and although they arent exactly deep they are a lot of fun. Stand out performances by Clive Owen and Mickey Rourke !

This movie appears to be gimmicky at first, but it doesn't completely revel in it's awesome style. The directors show great care for each of the characters, their personas, and their stories, and Sin City is one of the coolest movies I've ever seen.

I expected this to be a lot of flashy violence delivered with hipster cool. And for the most part, that's what it is. But wow, is it beautiful. The black & white photography is astounding. The multiple storylines involving noir archetypes are engaging, if not especially enlightening. Major beefs include the awful Alexis Bledel (a TV actress if there ever was one), and Clive Owen seems to be channeling Nicolas Cage most of the time, which doesn't work for him.

"Woah, a load of senseless hyper-violence just like in the comic books! Cool!" - if that's a sort of thing you are likely to excitedly exclaim, you will love Sin City. Otherwise you will find this juvenile.

Shot for shot, word for word, this comic book movie is truer to the source than anything has ever been, and probably ever will be, and that's because it was directed by the guy who wrote an illustrated the original graphic novels. The style is brilliant with almost entirely green screen effects, and even though it's mostly black and white, it doesn't seem like it. If you're in the mood for something violent, bold, and visually stunning, Sin City is a good pick anytime. Awesome!

Sin City is overly violent, features an incredible number of characters, tells 3 distinct, yet similar stories, and is also an incredibly entertaining watch. While one of the stories was easily weaker than the others, it doesn't weigh the film down enough to make it anywhere close to unwatchable. Even at its weakest point, Sin City is engrossing. It is a "translation" of Millar's graphic novel, and manages to do an incredible job of bringing it to the big screen.

Film noir taken to a logical extreme, with stylized brutal violence, ultra high-contrast chiaroscuro photography, and lots of hard-boiled archetypes delivering lines that combine the gritty and the eloquent. As a total dork for film noir, and a young male, I'm the target audience for this movie, and I absolutely love it. Your mileage may vary, and I imagine some will find it too flashy for its own good, but if that's your thing, you'll have a lot of fun.

Rodriguez' fidelity to Miller's comics results in an impressive and dynamic visual style that is unlike anything I'd seen before. Though it's a bit uneven (Marv's story seems strongest to me, the others aren't quite as tight), it's an exhilarating film that made my jaw drop on more than one occasion.

Visually it's spectacular and the cool-factor is through the roof. For these reasons alone it's worth watching. However I suspect you really got to love this sort of thing - comic book story & style and graphic violence for its own sake - to actually appreciate this film. Because if you look beyond, this thing has no substance. It's just mindless fun and fun it is, the kind of stuff Rodriguez and Tarantino indulge themselves in.

Making an immediate impact with a fantasitc black and white CGI art style characterised with sudden intense bursts of colour, it soon stands out as something special. Based upon the great comic series and with Frank Miller on board it could hardly be anything but a success. Brutal, shocking and outrageously surreal, it couples comic-book scenery with full motion film perfectly. It really does make the majority of comic translations look like a load of rubbish. One spectacular ride through hell.

I loved this! I will for sure have to read the graphic novel. I've heard this adaption is almost just like it's source material. That being said, I thought it was really well written and I found Rodriguez's direction and visual style was pretty competent. Probably one of the most visually splendid movies I've seen. I found it to be really well-acted by everyone on board as well. Obviously not for everybody, but there's no denying it's well-made.

This is all flash and no substance, more worthwhile as a novelty piece than as a legitimately involving feature. A delight to gaze upon, but just as hazily put together on a writing level, the picture moves forward while standing still. Heavy misogynistic overtones -- practically all of the female cast members are playing prostitutes -- are unavoidably off-putting, as well.

The movie is a great exercise of style, with photography and stupendous effects, convincing and exaggerated actings, references and bizarre dialogs. It is the top of pop and of the generation kill bill. There is violence to the tons, some eroticism and heavy theme. It is not a movie of easy digestion, or a movie for the great masses. Cannibals, prostitutes, murderers, corrupt policemen, this is the world of F. Miller.

With innovative style, unique visuals, a terrific cast and smooth storytelling, "Sin City" transcends its D-Movie origins and becomes a wildly entertaining and terrifically pulpy thrill ride with an intricate structure reminiscent of "Pulp Fiction". Although it doesn't pack the emotional gut punch of Tarantino's 1994 masterpiece, its bold stylistic darings and sound narrative instincts still add up to a pretty impressive result.

If you're a fan of A) The Sin City comics, B) Off-beat action films that don't take themselves too seriously, C) ridiculous amounts of violence and gore, D) Robert Rodriguez, or E) film noir, this film's for you. It's a direct translation of the comic - take that as you will - and is an entertaining journey into Frank Miller's twisted Sin City. It's definitely not for everyone, though, so I'd recommend this as a rent-it-before-you-buy-it. Be warned that the acting is by no means stellar,

An exhilaratingly singular experience, Sin City is film noir emptied of all political and social significance. Rodriguez, with the help of Miller, is only interested in bringing Miller's unique vision to the screen in perfectly composed frames that resemble the pages of a comic book while simultaneously pushing the boundaries of the medium in the digital realm. The cast perfectly plays out their archetypes to full bloodied effect, and the multi-narrative structure is sturdily designed.
