In this unique and dynamic live concert experience, Louis C.K.'s exploration of life after 40 destroys politically correct images of modern life with thoughts we have all had... but would rarely admit to. Louis C.K.: Hilarious, premiered at The Sundance Film Festival in January as the first stand-up concert film presented at Sundance. Filmed at the Pabst Theater in Milwaukee on April 18, 2009, Louis C.K.: Hilarious confirms why Louis C.K. is the most respected comedic voice of his generation. (Epix)

My introduction to Louis CK and I'm already convinced he's not only the best comedian working today, but the second coming. This stand-up routine gives us a small window into CK's life and out-look on the world, which is a surprisingly very caring and courteous one, as he remarks on the more darker, sadder, and stupider aspects of Western society, but thankfully takes a very humorous and rather original angle on these issues.

I'm just going to say it -- Louis C.K. is the greatest stand-up comedian of all-time. Not Carlin, not Pryor, not the grossly overrated Hicks, but Louis and only Louis. He'll depress you to the point of suicide and at the same time make you laugh so hard it literally hurts. And by using common subjects (family, raising kids, sex) he's able to create humor so intelligent yet so offensive that maybe 10-15% of the population can appreciate what he's really saying. Can't wait till his next special.

Once again Louie cracks me up. There's just something about it. He's not crass but he is, he doesn't go over the line but he does. One of the best things of this set is the 3 stages of a thought: Stupidity, Self-Hatred and Analysis. Just genius.......oh wait, hilarious (yeah that's it).

With those first few jokes you think you're in for something crass and hilarious, but it doesn't really deliver at the latter. Most of the jokes here are old man complaints about society, a tired genre that has never been that funny. The crassness is undirected and harmful, unlike the pointed vulgarity of Hicks or Carlin. The insights on parenthood are where Louis really hits his stride, but it comes too late.

It was not as conventionally funny as his earlier shows but it had parts that were more insightful than funny. Even bringing up first world problems as a joke is a good idea and not done often enough.

This guy is so frank, it makes You want to kill yourself, but at the same your laying on the ground with your hand banging on the floor in an uncontrollable way, with tears comming out of your eyes and laughing so loud, the neighbours think your being brutally murdered. And that's what You are - being killed by GREAT COMEDY.

Pretty great, though I got a little weary of him going on for so long about his kids. Maybe I should write a standup piece about listening to other people talk about their kids? Oh wait I think that's already been done.

I can't even remotely comprehend how incoherent ramblings could make me laugh so hard, but Louis is able to do that to me. Love the dude. It also helps that he says the things that most of us are thinking but don't want to say out of fear of being perceived as bleak or a "downer" or some other terribly recognized thing.

Terrific set is well-paced and consistently hilarious, with C.K. in great form as both star and director, with the roving camera work adding some spice and punctuation to his routines; a brilliant showcase of his comic timing and prowess. Great fun.

Seen: 2. Newly divorced Louie with young kids, the beginning of a popular peak for a cynical genius. Airplanes, cell phones, fat Americans, death.

I'm not the biggest fan of comedy but I'll be damned if I wasn't crying I was laughing so hard multiple times throughout this special. Louis CK is joke-writing genius.

Although it feels a tad inconsistent, maybe due to the duration, "Hilarious" has so many classic moments and remains a great piece of stand-up by possibly the best comedian of the 21st century. C.K. displays his unique knack for choosing thought-provoking topics, exploring them in original, surprising ways and offering acute sociopolitical critique paired with uproariously charismatic delivery, and thus proves once again beyond a shadow of a doubt that he's head and shoulders above the lot.

I cannot and will not decide which is superior between this and Chewed Up. Suffice it to say that this is a master stand up at the absolute peak of his career, producing hour long specials at a basically unprecedented rate.

It dragged in a few parts which kept it from being a 95 but the rest of the time it was so hilarious. I laughed so hard at the "what if there was a guy who everytime he did this [jerk off hand movement] he had to finish" part. As someone who has only seen a little bit of this guy before, I was impressed. Gonna check out his earlier stuff.

Gonna be honest, I preferred his other specials to this one, which is actually saying something in this case. As the title would imply, this is hilarious. I love his approach to impressions and smattering the performance with little bursts of yelling. It's pretty clear to see how Carlin inspired him in that way. If his career manages to last as long as Carlin's did he will probably be heralded as the greatest comedian ever. I always want to see more from Louie.

Hilarious, no; amusing in parts, yes. The most annoying thing about this show is that I'd already seen him perform some of the best jokes in interviews elsewhere, and on those ocassions his delivery was much better too. The last 15-20 minutes are cracking and it's a reminder of what Louis C.K. can produce, making it even more of a shame that it's so patchy here.

Even though I'm only like two thirds of Louis age I relate to him way more than I would like to. I really like the laid back way he looks at the absurdities of being human, and I don't remember the last time I laughed this much. I partially blame the drugs I was on watching this, but the jokes about shit are funniest. C.K. is one of the better stand-up comedians.
