Finally, Marvel for adults. The action is strictly street-level (and surprisingly brutal), the acting's strong, and the tone is engagingly dark and mature. If you're tired of Marvel's usual bright, shiny blockbusters, give this a shot. EDIT: Season 3 is a friggin' masterpiece.

This is one of the best superhero-related installments I have seen on either the big screen or the small screen. I think what makes this series so spectacular is its localized environment. No, this isn't Superman globetrotting about and saving people, or Batman attempting to save all of Gotham; it is one hero attempting to save one neighborhood from corruption and evil. While the quality fluctuates a bit, Dardevil maintains a consistent tone and does some fantastic character and world building.

A shame I got to this so late - I have a signed variant from Quesada somewhere, and loved the character growing up, but the hype kept me away. It shouldn’t. Seasons 1 & 3 are true masterpieces - when Karen, Matt, and Foggy are with each other, the series blends like a rabbit into a snowstorm. (But everything with Elektra in S2 is distant and weird.) Otherwise, tenacious, innovative, and daring. Importantly, it keeps the heavy Catholicism intact: an authenticity in keeping to Hell’s Kitchen.

I know this is considered The Godfather of all the Marvel/Netflix shows, but I didn't get into like that. Cox was fine as Daredevil, but I never really felt into him as a character, or really anyone for that matter like I am Luke Cage or The Punisher. He does well, but I don't know if I see a definitive Daredevil in him. That's my main complaint, the show's writing and production is stellar, and a bit surprising given the other projects done on the character. Very solid.

Season 1 Review: Meh...but like a BIG FUCKING MEH. I was never a fan of the comics (despite being a comic book fan) so that might have something to do with it. Charlie Cox was good, and D'Onofrio is always great (very underrated actor), but I was left wanting more. Each episode had some high points but were boring overall. Maybe Punisher's arrival in Season 2 will turn this ship around for me. Then again...it also has Elektra (bleh!)

Season 1-2: Season 2 of Daredevil doesn't do all that much to add to the first one. While the fantastic tone, writing, and acting is all consistant, Season 2 just feels a bit less focused, focusing on both the Punisher and Elektra, rather than just Kingpin. It's definitely a great show still, but Season 2, doesn't hold up to the pure ecstasy that was Season 1.

Essensially Batman Begins in serial form, but between D'Onofrio's great turn as the villain and the pretty brutal and well choreographed fight scenes (the long take hallway fight being an obvious high note) the first season became a welcomed surprise. Skeptical of where they'll go from here though.

S1: 75 | S2: 75 | S3: 80 | They could’ve easily compressed each season into 10 episodes, but aside from that I don’t have many complaints. Solid action, especially the “one take” scenes, and Cox is great as Murdock. D’Onofrio doesn’t have Fisk’s height, or natural voice, but he does what he can to be like him, and for the most part fits the role well. Honestly the Punisher was one the most interesting parts of the show, and Electra/The Hand one of the weakest.

Intriguing throughout, "Daredevil" benefits from good writing, well-established characters, captivating action and a convincing cast from which D'Onofrio inevitably stands out. My main gripe is that certain aspects of it become a little repetitive after a while, such as the discussions with Father Lantom and later Sister Maggie or the unresolved communication breakdown between our three protagonists. Nevertheless it has its fair share of thrills to offer and maybe even a little food for thought.

This series has been the highlight of the MCU for me personally. I was hesitant going in, feeling a bit of that "superhero fatigue" that people have been talking about, but this show captivated me from the get-go. Totally different vibe than the movies; much darker, more realistic and serious. Season 1 was nearly flawless. Season 2 was still good, though I don't particularly care for Elektra or the "Hand" story arc. Season 3 was a return to excellence.

Easily overtakes Age of Ultron and Ant-Man as the best MCU thing of 2015. Charlie Cox is quite compelling in the lead role, selling everything from his lawyering to relationships to ass-kicking to the more heightened comic booky melodrama. Rosario Dawson's tiny role was kind of weird.

It's crazy watching this after watching the horrific Ben Affleck Daredevil, really makes this shine in comparison. The supporting characters are all uninteresting but yet the lead is strong and the villain was great. I expect this trend to continue with Jon Bernthal playing The Punisher in season 2. Fun show but with all superhero type shit you never have any fear for the main character (which is essential) because you know they are too big of cowards to kill them off

Daredevil was, from the start, one of Marvel and Netflix’s boldest moves, and with each season it hasn’t just kept the bar high — it has raised it. Dark, elegant, and brutal, this series achieves something few in the genre can: it has soul. The first season hit hard, the second dared to complicate things with Punisher and Elektra, but it’s in the third where it truly shines. The return of Wilson Fisk — the imposing Kingpin — turns every episode into a tense, captivating chess match. Charlie Cox

As of 2025, still the best MCU show. The whole Defenders debacle made me hate the TV-MCU so much that I waited half a decade to catch up and watch the last season. It's not as good as the rest but not bad really. I'm not into the whole christian morale vibe, but the show's mood is good enough that I can ignore it.

It was pretty entertaining, but as it goes on, his business partner becomes insufferable and when they introduce Jessica Jones, she's one of those "edgy" fourth-wave-feminism leading ladies who mistakes being an unaccountable spastic asshole for being a "complex character". Nothing in the characters' background justifies her terrible attitude toward everyone. She's ultimately what ruined the show. But plotholes began to abound as well, and the lack of criminal awareness in the script.

Brilliant show. While I was initially annoyed with how long it took them to give Daredevil his costume, the stories and action more than made up for it. Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio are absolutely brilliant in their roles, and the show is filled with really great supporting characters as well with Foggy, Karen, Punisher, and Elektra. Easily Netflix's best Marvel series (although Jessica Jones season 1 is also brilliant)

I can see what they were trying to do, but it didn't work out for me. When you try to make Marvel stuff too gritty, it falls off. Actually, individually all characters, except Murdock himself, were well carved out and well-acted. But the story was too contrite and slow-paced. Kingpin as a caricature of amassed power talks to me more than a tormented giant figure for example. They tried something innovative with fighting scenes, but I couldn't catch what :) they were just long to untrained eyes.

S1 great, S3 problematic but pretty good. The action as a whole is awesome, this show made me like Daredevil. Dark, broody, smart, good primary and secondary characters. S2 is weird though: first four episodes is some of my fave TV ever and NAILS Punisher. The Elektra stuff is absolute garbage and ruins the season. Idk if it's because I just wanted more Pun or if Elektra just wasn't written well, but sometimes that drama tanked the season. Luckily Castle showed up occasionally throughout.

Grimdark and well-written, but terribly paced. The strongest aspect of the show is the cast, Cox and D'Onofrio in particular. When it's good it's great, but a there's a lot of filler that I couldn't get on board with. The action scenes are well-shot though quite violent. Slows builds up into a gritty, strong and intense story, with worthy counterparts for our hero. The fights are extremely visceral and well executed, showing brutality at its finest. All the characters do their part in the plot and while the series does an amazing job at making an homage to the cartoons characters, it also doesn't get diminished by it, allowing the writers to show how this superhero came to be. This is truly the best that Netflix has to offer from the marvel franchise.

It's ridiculous to provide 1 score for a whole season, never mind 2, but what the hell: although the 2nd suffers from the same problems as the 1st (8 eps of story stretched out to 13; brilliantly choreographed fights that just go on too long (why does almost every goon turn into an MMA fighter?)) it's an easier watch if only bc there are more great characters (NOT Foggy & Karen by the way) & performances (Bernthal & esp D'onofrio are absolutely riveting) to watch.

The only reason I'm watching this is because apparently Jon Bernthal plays the Punisher. But he isn't in the show yet so every scene that doesn't have Rosario Dawson is an absolute bore. Vincent D'Onofrio is a terrible choice for his role, and every one of his scenes drags badly. The action is also poorly choreographed so the director tries to compensate by just making the lighting bad and using very quick cuts in an attempt to disguise this fact (like in Batman Begins, The Dark Knight).

Ben caratterizzato e avvincente.

Part of what makes me love this show is the dynamic nature of each character. Over two seasons, we have seen Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) grow so much, as well as watching Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) battle the problems that plague his city, his inner demons, and his past - often all at the same time. The "villains" have been wonderfully constructed and acted as well from Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio) to Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal).

A suberb super hero drama that feels real because of the well choerographed fight scenes and the subtle but effective portrayals of the lead characters. Matt Murdoch is a character with a lot of depth and Charlie Cox did a good job exploring the outer limits of where they could take this character. Netflix has a sure fire hit on their hands and I cannot wait to see where this show will go with the Punisher being introduced.

It's a very enjoyable show. The thing that kept taking me out of it was the overly fake voice that D'Onofrio was using in every scene. It did seem to drag on from time to time, but I guess that's just what happens when you have to get through multiple origin stories. I still got sucked in and enjoyed it very much. I liked "Jessica Jones" better, but I'm still looking forward to future seasons of this. If you like either show, watch the other one, too.
