Pretty lame. I don't like Jim Carrey much to begin with, though. I laughed a couple of times, mostly at Dan Hedaya. And Morgan Freeman is always a pleasure to watch, but not enough to save this mediocre crap.

So essentially, we have Jim Carrey playing typical Jim Carrey and Jennifer Aniston playing romantically frustrated Rachel Greene (a la Friends). Pretty funny at times- especially considering this is the first widely known movie where we get funnyman Steve Carell as a central character- but otherwise, it's predictable. Morgan Freeman as God may well be the only reason to watch this one.

I'm glad I finally got to see this movie. Jim Carrey did a great job at his short stint of being Bruce Almighty. Morgan Freeman did a fantastic job as God. That silky smooth voice could only come from the heavenly father. Some of the jokes are a little goofy (It's a Jim Carrey movie after all) but the scenes that worked, really worked and I laughed really hard during those scenes. The Steve Carell scene with the babbling had me in tears it was so funny. I also liked the moral of the story.

I'm not sure how much I like this. It's a bit all over the place, but punctuated by some funny scenes. Carrey is Carrey, as you might expect. I think it just runs out of steam. Watchable.

Surprisingly unfunny, considering the possibilities in the premise. Most of those points are for the scene where Bruce was making Evan wig out on air, because that almost made me pee on myself I was laughing so hard. Unfortunately, this spends waaay too much time being respectful and didactic, when it would have been more entertaining if he'd just gone power-mad for the full runtime.

A comedy about being god, Jim Carrey surprisingly does this well enough for an atheist to enjoy it with no real problem. Granted, it does follow a rather standard comedy formula, but it certainly does work.

Some decent laughs throughout this comedy. I'll be honest I was hoping for a lot more. I thought Jim Carrey and Morgan Freeman did great jobs with their characters but there just wasn't enough laughs to make this memorable and there wasn't enough deep philosophy to make it really memorable either. It's alright but nothing great.

Pretty decent, but left me somehow unsatisfied. I was thrilled to see Jim Carrey in another comedy movie after a pretty long "serious" stint, but it somehow doesn't feel like the same old Jim Carrey from the 90s. It's still a decent story, I'd have to say, but just feels like it's trying really hard not to be a comedy. When it starts taking dramatic/sad turns, it feels more like a buzzkill than tactful story progression. Still, if you like any of the primary actors, you're likely to enjoy it.

This should be marked as "Comedy" instead of "Fantasy". Jim playing God is one of the funniest things you can imagine. The story is not that incredible, but it's really, REALLY fun. Morgan Freeman, Jennifer Aniston and Steve Carell are fantastic here too. Worth it!

Jim Carrey can be grating. I can't stand Steven Carrell. Jennifer Aniston doesn't know how to play anything except for Rachel. Yet, somehow, this movie is fantastic! Carrey's shtick is there, but only when appropriate. But most importantly, Morgan Freeman is God (he plays Him in the movie as well).

I didn't think this movie was going to be good. It seemed like kind of a rediculous premise: a news anchor becomes God for a day and wreaks all kinds of havok on his life. Then I saw it and was reminded once again that Jim Carrey can do anything. ANYTHING. The movie was hilarious and some of the jokes in it I still use every once in a while, specifically the "playing jazz" gag. I hated Jennifer Anniston in it, but then, I hate her in everything because she's a wretched, wretched human

We aren't out there to make dogmatic statements. We're there to solicit questions, to give an entertaining experience." Such ambiguity is disappointing, but what will deter families from seeing this movie even more than that are its coarse jokes, foul language and sexual situations. Why did the filmmakers feel the need to go there? That material undermines what is otherwise a very funny, sweet and profound comedy that awakens viewers to the fundamental existence of God and our need to serve one

I have to admit, it gave me more laughs than I expected, but the 90s-era Jim Carrey schtick is mostly inappropriate for this movie and I'm surprised they were still tapping that well in 2003. Theologically, I guess it makes pretty clear the absurdities of the concept of "God", although I assume that's unintentional. The theme of God just screwing around with people for no good reason other than his own amusement is pretty true to the Old Testament, though.

Bruce Almighty nostalgically reminds me very much of 'Liar Liar' which is one of my favourite Jim Carrey films and it just so happens that both films are directed by Tom Shadyac. With the exception of 'Yes Man', this feels like the last Jim Carrey film to liken his most popular comedies of the 90's. And Jennifer Aniston gives one of her better carbon copy performances. The humour is very reminiscent of the 90's Jim Carrey films and I think he gives one of his most charismatic performances here.

Jim Carrey is surprisingly restrained in this and actually manages to deliver a somewhat heartfelt performance. Upon rewatch this script is also much more refined than what I would expect for a Carrey-vehicle. Bruce Almighty isn't some misunderstand masterpiece or anything like that but it does come from an era when comedies, even the cheap ones, had a modicum of effort.

A waste of everyone's talents, this pallid comedy is almost doggedly middle-class-slanted, as it's Bruce is a guy with a good job and married to Jennifer Aniston, while the plight of the deaths of those caught in a Bruce-inflicted tsunami are never spoken again. Also, Jim's too old for this.

A very funny film with Jim Carrey on top form as comedian and likeable leading man. Good supporting performances from Carell, Bell, Baker Hall and Aniston. The film is mainly let down by its insistence on drving incessantly towards an inoffensive, crowd-pleasing, good-timey, clichéd, character-redeeming, positive-moral-values-having, Hollywood happy ending. Ugh.
