I actually liked it quite a bit. Kaya Scodelario is totally game and the hurricane itself plays an excellent supporting character. There is some wonky cgi here and there and it prominently features typical B-movie, creature-feature tropes, but for the most part, everything felt real and the directing is actually really solid. I also like that the gators are treated like animals and not monsters. This won't blow you away, but it's a lot of fun and way better than it looks.

On a scale from 'Sharknado' to 'Jaws' this was very good, wasn't it? It's tight and brisk, and the solid setpieces were entertaining, so I'm more than willing to let that whole "apex predator" thing slide.

Would someone like to tell me exactly what I missed, here? I tried; I've reflected on it, did my level-headed best to give this movie every benefit of the doubt, and I landed on, it just isn't very good. It's a low-rent Sharknado (and THAT is painful to say) that doesn't do nearly enough to take advantage of its claustrophobic setting, nor its ridiculous premise, NOR its semi-interesting tagline. "They were here first". Okay... and? This is just horror via happenstance. Criminally undercooked.

The first time I ever witnessed a swim meet I had to lead off the lead off event, the 200 Medley Relay in the first heat as the sole competitor. I had joined the swim team my senior year knowing only how to front crawl. So I'm up on the block readying to dive into a sport I had never attended once, and all by myself. As I'm crouched over, sweating bullets, a bell rings but nothing registers and the referee comes over and says, "When the bell sounds you jump in." No bells in this but they jump in

I think it's time to stop hugging my copy of Haute Tension and give up on Aja. This has a few decently tense scenes and some acceptable gore, but mostly just treads water in a flood of disaster movie clichés that we've seen done better hundreds of times. He gives himself so many opportunities to surprise us, and never does. Just stick with the Florida Man meme.

While this was by the numbers it was also very good at what it was trying to do which was entertain. The film had its slow moments and it did drag in the middle but when it was on track it was awesome. I loved most of the kills and it enjoyed watching the main characters get fucked up. A big plus for not having a final showdown with a main evil Gator.

I tried turning my brain off but so many plot points here are nonsensical that my brain kept reactivating to object. Poor direction from Aja results in none of the scares working and without any humour this really wasn't any fun. That's a shame cause Scodelario does well with her part, and does an excellent job at showing that if a Gator gets a hold of your arm and leg in it's jaws, you'll bleed but then have no physical impairment whatsoever afterwards. Sorry, my brain insisted I end with that

This is a surprisingly basic B horror flick that is not super ambitious, but works very well on its own terms. It builds up tension and sustains it for the entire running time, which is really all you really want from it.

After the greatness that was Deep Blue Sea, all other "water creatures trapped in a small space with humans" are lame by comparison. The dad literally looks at his daughter with a straight face and says, "You're faster than them! Now swim!!!!" LMFAO. Gators can swim up to 20mph while Michael Phelps' top speed is 6mph. This college reject had no chance of winning that race. I gave this a chance but was ultimately bored by the end and just wanted everyone to die, which they will, from sepsis.

It's a decent watch. While it's definitely not groundbreaking, the acting is commendable at least. I think it's about the best one could hope for in the "pack hunting alligators terrorizing a house during a hurricane" genre. Pop some hot & buttery and enjoy it for what it is.

It was a little predictable. its a summer popcorn flick. it did its job, it entertained me and made me jump once or twice. the concept is fun, even if it doesn't entirely make sense why the alligators are so vicious. it was worth the ticket price.

Inexplicably aggressive alligators chase a daughter-father-dog-team, and munch on some other rando's along the way. Makes no effort whatsoever to provide any real plot, characters or logic; but provides a fun ride. The effects are strong and the cinematography is generally appealing.

This film will always hold a special place in my heart. I saw this in theaters while living in China. The first movie I saw with the love of my life, and I remember about halfway through we started holding hands. The first real physical contact the two of us had. The film itself is hilariously campy, especially the ending, which almost elevates the film into Sharknado territory of bad, but my good memories of this film will never fade.

Featuring two very solid performances by Scodelario & Pepper, who never get boring as the only two big characters, & plenty of tension throughout, it's a tight, fluid, fast-paced horror-slash-disaster movie that's much better than it has any right to be & deserves props for that. There are definitely some iffy moments, & the dialogue doesn't always work, but overall it's a fun & fresh ride that's very worth watching.

I was pretty surprised Aja had that whole character dynamic down. Just 'cause I don't think I've seen something this character-driven from him yet. Not that this movie is super character-driven, but more than Piranha. :D He obviously knows how to do horror. So that's there. Barry Pepper is obviously great. And Kaya Scodelario fucking knocks it out of the park. Including the American accent (until today I had no idea (or memory of the fact) that she's English). That is all.

While still an imperfect film, CRAWL took on the concept of a film that had no right to be any good, and embraced it in such a way that's hard to ignore. The thrills and pacing this film had was highly entertaining.

I've heard much pining for the days of unsophisticated B-movies that take an appealing central concept and showcase it for not one minute over feature length; that is 'Crawl' to a T, which makes me wonder why it wasn't more warmly received (as opposed to more overtly arch pastiches, including Aja's own). Admittedly the plot & dialogues are a little perfunctory, but it's an exceptionally watchable example of a competent protagonist triumphing over a series of increasingly perilous ordeals.

Based on reviews I've read and some folks stating it's an awesome movie, I think I started watching it with way too high expectations. It's an okay monster movie, with some moments of thrill, but overall it doesn't really just cut it. Good performances, okay CGI, but just doesn't make you hold on to your seat so it just rates OK in the end.

I usually hate these kind of monster movies, but Crawl seemed like the type of film that really knew exactly what it was and didn't try to overstay its welcome or go too far down the path that so many giant animal movies tend to go down. It's a great watch and props to Sam Raimi.

Ne mérite absolument pas sa réputation de Nanar. Aja a fait un truc décent et rythmé. On ne s'ennuie pas en regardant les trois personnages tentant désespéramment de survivre. Même mieux, on espère qu'ils survivent, surtout le chien.

It does enough right, with solid directing, acting, and interesting scenarios with its concept. The script it pretty hit or miss though, with some mediocre dialogue on occasion. The backstory for its characters only slows the film, and hardly develops them into people that I was truly rooting for (the dog was the best). The CGI varies, but it’s acceptable for this type of movie. Overall enjoyable if you’re down with the premise, better than most other films like it.

Not a bad creature feature. The situational comedy at the 71 minute mark is almost worth it alone. The deaths are unfortunately cheap and not well distributed. The gators border on supernatural to its great detriment. The lair is stupid. Also still not sure if Kaya Scodelario can act.

Entertaining flick with a couple great performances, a surreal sound stage look, and a slightly allegorical Left Behind vibe - but inevitably succumbs to stupid character syndrome. All the writers had to do was explain why they couldn't break through the floor from the crawl space and I'd give it an extra 12 points. How hard could that have been - just show them fail a couple times...jeez.

Indestructible father and daughter team survive a catergory 5 hurricane thats looks like a bit of an overcast day, only to find that alligators have broken into their crawl space, and in a biologically unsound side issue, managed to lay eggs and hatch out alligatorlings without anyone noticing. Luckily, some destructible ne'er-do-wells come along to provide some sport for both the gators and viewers. I thought this was a lot of fun, well made (obviously for a budget), tense, daft but enjoyable.

Güzel 1 hayvansal dehşet. Florida'nın 1 hafta sürecek kasırga sonucu eyalet boşalır. Bu sırada babasını evde arayan Carrie, karşısına timsahlar bulur. Ham diye parça koparıp yiyen timsahlardan kurtulmak için elinden geleni yaparlar. Heyecanı yüksek bir film. Gösterimdeki çoğu filmden iyi. Amerika'nın timsah takıntısı da muamma. I just found myself by the end not really caring about what is happening and what has happened. I found this painfully average. Cheesy writing, so implausible that is hard to look past and some dodgy CGI just make this a run of the mill horror film. It isn't terrible or anything, just inconsequential.

My daughter had seen a trailer and recognized Kaya Scodelario from The Maze Runner trilogy and has been continually bothering me about it ever since. Today I had no choice but to grant her her wish. And it was a thrilling experience. Borrows a lot from modern horror films, with a lot of crocodile jump scares. Actually lives on it. But I felt the natural disaster surrounding made for a fresh enough take on a modern cliche.
