Here is your daily update on American Dream, well-shot on the formulae of almost every indie out there and its sinister message covered by so called humanism.

Quite alright, nothing magnificent. Moving, well acted, competently directed, the usual annoying snags you find in Hollywood productions, but ultimately satisfying enough. It really does feel like a lot of the stumbling blocks are just thrown up for the sake of it, and I do know how much this is not the true story. Good, nothing more.

Very good drama movie with W. Smith; a sort of struggle for life movie. America is one of those countries where the differences between rich and poor people are so big. Great to see in this movie Murphy's law : "Anything that can go wrong will go wrong"

"The Pursuit of Happyness" derives from the Constitution where Thomas Edison wrote that all men have the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. One man (Smith), focuses on finding this happiness during a downward spiral in his life. He and his son are forced to live on the streets while he interns for a stock broker company. During his no-pay internship, he fights for the one job position that the company opens up for interns. Somewhere along the way, he finds his happine

Well written, well acted, and well directed, but don't watch this movie on a day when shit's going badly. For as good as this movie is, you almost wanna jump off of a building through most of it. There is absolutely no gratification until the last five minutes or so. How much shit can one man take? This movie answers the question. I mean, really. I needed a hug after it was over. It held my interest the whole way through, though. I give it a cool A-, which translate to 90.

A fair adaptation of a good version of the classic American success story. This movie has a fair blend of sorrow, laughter, and a driving story to tie it all together. I'd recommend it, but you don't need to watch this more than once.

I'm personally not into sappy feel good movies about how awesome pursuing the American Dream is. I wish Will Smith would go back to making fun movies. Still, it's not bad and it is encouraging. And the younger Smith got this one out before The Day the Earth Stood Still ruined his career for ever.

It's your archetypal solid all-rounder. Pretty strong in most areas, not really obviously weak any either, but slightly irritating in its averageness. The result is a sappy, but enjoyable and mildly affecting movie; in which I couldn't quite work out if the moral was 'money makes you happy' or 'homelessness makes you not happy''?

Manipulative but still somewhat enjoyable. I found it hard to believe that Will Smith was struggling with money problems and I really hate the message that money is the key to happiness. I always think Will Smith can't get any whiter but then this happens. Come out of the white closet, Will.

A sappy, sentimental drama. But it will get most people! In a good way. It is very hard to match the depth of feelings evoked in a father-son relationship as with ''Life is beautiful'', but this is modern and lighter. It works!

This is what I think of this movie: * Last year 25 million Americans requested emergency food assistance. Of those 25 million, 9 million were children. * 37 million Americans are considered poor. * Out of a total 2trillion, 400billion was spent on warfare. * ....... Lets just keep it with: this is a very touching and inspiring story, but instead they could have launched an open debate on the lack of social security and the hypocricy of the American Dream.

I'm torn between hating the film's message that money can solve all your problems, and that hard work can overcome all barriers, and liking the fact that it does a reasonably effective job of also showing how good hardworking people can get screwed by the system and the lack of safety nets available to them.

A rags-to-riches story based on real events. This is all about Will Smith's acting, and it's pretty solid. He's a very charming, charismatic actor, so whether or not this film succeeds for you is whether or not he wins you over in the early scenes. I think he will. There's one amazingly heartbreaking scene in a train station bathroom that is very, very well done. This movie will not blow you away, but you won't think it a waste of your time, either.

This movie is so melodramatic and laboured I thought I was watching I am Sam again. I felt angry that they sensationalised the details of a genuinely inspiring true story (e.g. the actual Chris Gardner WAS paid during the internship, he didn't have to look after his son while he was studying for his stockbroker exam, by the time his son was returned to he was employed although he struggled with homelessness). Overall an oscar bait vehicle for Will Smith to show off his crying scenes...

I liked this movie a lot more than I thought I would. Smith proves that he is in fact a talented actor. His character wrestles with his own demons while trying to keep his relationship with his son existent, providing protection and a possible hope for the future. It demands a lot of the viewer emotionally and if you're willing to give yourself to it, it's easily a 85.

The Pursuit of Happyness is not a groundbreaking piece of filmmaking by any stretch of the imagination. However there is an innocent, relatable & engaging heart to this film that may be overly sentimental, but is sure to pull on the heart strings of many. Will Smith gives one of his best performances and he elevates the story dramatically. And the inclusion of his real son adds more emotional weight to the believability of the story. It's undoubtedly sappy, but a pleasant watch all the same.

Nauseatingly sappy. In place of actual dramatic impetus, one must settle for wondering just what misfortune is going to befall them next. This shoddy bit of heartstring-tugging might--MIGHT have been carried by an actual actor. But Will Smith's characterization is completely devoid of any suggestion of an inner life, presumably because he has none himself.

Mistakes - 1) Will Smith's son is given a basketball as a gift. Later on, when he tells his son they are gonna go back home, he says, "We are gonna get you home to your football." 2) When the cabbie is chasing Will Smith, the cabbie can't be seen entering the subway station using the stairs or the escalator, but pretty much appears to come out of nowhere.

Great. A biopic about a stuggling salesman, Chris Gardner. This is a strange film indeed, its not a teer-jerker or a feel-good movie, but I guarentee it will inspire the hell out of you. I mean the guy fights against some pretty daunting odds, not the least of which being he's blessed with the worst possible luck on the planet, and he pulls through. Life gave him lemons and lets just say, he made a LOT of lemonade. Definitely worth buying so its handy when you're down on hope.
