It's a rare delight to experience an original idea - a device that allows you to look at things a slightly different way, that you just couldn't before. Severance is entertaining as heck, but its main concept is so absolute in its ability to bisect the characters it gives us some new, interesting questions about how we choose our work and who we work for.

I can not think of single flaw in season one. From production design to editing, everything in the show is amazing. The world and atmosphere created, the acting, center frame kerping us tense at every single moment.. And the concept.. What a great show, I hope they can keep it up in season 2 with that banger ending.

Maybe the best show I have seen examining the present of work, workplaces and labor, deeply rich with symbolism and layers of meaning, gorgeous to look at and with incredible performances. It also instigates a workers revolution and honestly, what more could I want?

Cheap and stale. Too cute and quirky for a self-proclaimed sci-fi show, yet it's not even a sci-fi show. It's a fantasy-a dull, boring one at that. It's another damn cliffhanger show-90% fluff, 10% patronizing, lazy suspense. Like most TV shows, this one doesn't value your time. It wants to be Black Mirror (with some overt copying) but fails to pack even a quarter of the intellect. It's a novel concept but it offers zero depth. Lots of pretty drone shots though! Is that how low the bar is now?

Intriguing premise built on top of good performances and top notch cinematography. But it's unforgivable that the writers would want me to believe that a company that keeps so many secrets has so few security guards.

the whole thing is to lead up to a huge cliffhanger final episode... Nothing happens, no development, none of the questions have been answered, not even any subplots resolved. Just some stagings and endless walks in aseptic white corridors leading to the final episode. Then, where the film finally should have to start, it actually ended. They somehow managed to make a cliffhanger for S2 giving nothin the whole S1. Welp - It's the tv serie and the viewer who were severed from the essence of the

Ah Severance, why are you like this? Your performances are impeccable and your direction is superb. Even the worst moments are funny and creepy in an excellent way. However, I have to take the writing to task because this could be great but chooses to be very good. Maybe I'm burned by LOST but it was a constant comparison for me: weirdness instead of tone, mysteries that go nowhere, and mishandled characterization that the second season did not improve.

I'm late to the party here, but this is such a nice concept that is well executed. The innie/outie dichotomy allows the show to offer an intriguing plot mechanic where our protagonist has competing desires in a way that is wholly unique. Great show.

I grew up as a child in the late sixties, with cerebral science fiction my main course for entertainment. This show tries to be cerebral, but just never clicks. It's boring, incredibly boring. I can hear the pitch for this show being made at Apple TV. So it's George Orwell meets L. Ron Hubbard, in a cold, sterile environment a la 2001: A Space Odyssey. These are hours of my life I will never get back.

Season 1 - 96. Date is for completion of first season. Absolutely astonishing in its storytelling, Severance is a great mystery box of a show a la "Lost" or "The Good Place" that asks more questions than it answers. However, thanks to the care of Ben Stiller, the mysteriousness doesn't prove unsatisfying even without the depth of answers we the audience might desire. In season 1, the first few episodes are dedicated to world-building, resulting in some mild pacing issues.

After S2 I grow less and less convinced of Severance. The concept is right there to ignite inspiration, but the plotting and characterizations start to feel performative. S2 is quite the letdown, ignoring the funnest characters of S1 and playing that familiar game of alternating "foreplay-letdown" we know so well from other mystery shows. I have little hope it will get better from here on out, but maybe it's possible if some headway can be made in where to go, and who we're watching

[Season 1] A brilliant Big Idea turned into a thrilling, thought-provoking TV show. Refreshingly inclined to take it's to time to build the characters and slowly build up the tension. While the slow approach made some episodes lag a little, you are awarded in spades with a final few episode, the finale chief among them, that rank among the most intense, enjoyable rides in a long while. Felt Nordic with the snow, subdued emotion and plain strangeness. Deserves all the praise it has gotten.

Boy did this show stumble fast or what? I mean, usually it starts around season 3 or 4, but seems the screenwriters were in a hurry to beat the competition and mess it up sooner. So, season 1 is freaking fan-ta-stic! Season 2 unfortunately is not: filler episodes, watering down the mystery by introducing weirdness for its own sake, characters acting out of character to service the plot.. Ah Severance, I had such hopes..

The most inspired and original art direction seen in a series in quite some time. The socioeconomic commentary is interesting enough to think about without feeling too heavy handed. It struggles with pacing issues midway through the season, and there are some conveniently written plot points throughout, but if you're willing to overlook it's minor flaws it rewards you greatly. A terrific ending and stellar performances all around make this one of the strongest first seasons in a long time.

This rating is for season 1. This is the best show I’ve seen since 2011, since Firefly & Star Trek TNG. Even better than early seasons of GoT because it is less graphic & needlessly lurid. It doesn’t sensationalize violence. The characters are exceptionally unique & believable. Intensely meaningful cultural commentary that is story & characters first, and never pats itself on the back.
