Man, I tried to get into this. Rating is based on the first three episodes. I will say this as positives : some great imagery and casting. But it disobeys every fundamental rule of decent writing - I'd be hard-pressed to find a single scene that doesn't feature tedious exposition and bloated, empty ideas. And there's zero humanity or humor in any of it. And total miscalculation in tone. There's absolutely no pleasure in watching this show, so here I stop. What a waste of actors and concept.

Much more horrific than the original film. It used to be that malfunctioning robots would just hunt you down and shoot you. Nowadays they slowly bore you to death with pretentious dialogue.

After a promising start, the only word I can think of to describe this series is: bloated. Watching most things attached to the Nolan brothers is like looking at something externally beautiful, but absolutely lifeless at its core. You can throw trite philosophical questions, some post-modernist leanings, and an amazing cast together, but it doesn't mean it will be wildly successful, and this endeavor is most certainly not. The pace is glacial, the stakes are low, and it's just boring¯_(?)_/¯

Tips over into taking itself too seriously at times, and some of the writing is shameless exposition dumping, but S1 is fantastic in large part due to Hopkins (S1 score is 90-95ish). I appreciated the nods to the original film, Jurassic Park, GoT and Trevor from GTA V. Would loved to have seen some billionaire griefer stalking Ed Harris screaming incoherent homophobic slurs. S2 is a disappointing mess but has a couple of episodes that are 10/10, S3 is as bad as GoT S8. Stopped watching after S3.

It's a bit overbearing and borders being pretentious but man is the acting directing and cinematography amazing. Probably the best pilot I have seen. We will see if the story holds up but good to go so far. Update through eight episodes, and it hasn't slacked off. Its thoughtful and dreamy, but clinical and cold. Best show on TV right now.

I don't ever review TV shows on here, but I'll make a special exception for this pile of pretentiousness. Has no understanding of how A.I. works, how robots work, how corporations work, how guns work, how theme parks work, how narrative storytelling works, how plot structure works, how protagonists work. The writers of this show hate human beings because that's the new version of Catholic guilt. Written to make itself seem smart when it's actually incoherent. You were all duped.

Compelling series that executes Crichton's ideas better than he could, and successfully raises the stakes without forcing it. Really, the biggest point this drives home is how much it would suck to be an NPC. Second season is too messy, but still has some golden moments.

This show is everything I have dreamed of ever since seeing the movie with Yul Brynner. The concept of Westworld was so brilliant to me and they have perfectly adapted it into a drama that unfolds beautifully. Consciousness, reality and perception are explored heavily in this show. Its so surreal and engaging. Ed Harris and Anthony Hopkins are amazing in this. I can't recommend it enough.

Slow as molasses. Takes itself far too seriously, and slings basic and shallow philosophical questions at you with the attitude of superiority. The writing is just cringeworthy at times. There is nothing and no one to care about, things just keep pushing along.

I must say I suffered for long time for this series and was pretty afraid how they'll cliffhanger the season. But the conclusion summed nicely majority of the mystery in the end though leaving a lot for next season, which I'm looking forwards to see. Great effects, nice directing and brilliant cast. Good work indeed.

I love Ed Harris as The Man in Black and Evan Rachel Wood as Dorothy, and Hopkins and Wright also bring the goods. Furthermore, Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy are playing around with themes that are right up my alley, and while their show doesn't even begin to compare to something like 'Lost' and that show's characters and story, it's the most accomplished cinematic puzzles in recent years. Season 2 was a step down but I enjoyed some of the ways that it expanded the universe. Season 3 was horrible.

S1: The set up is intriguing, and this could be an all-time great show if they deliver on it. It's already outstanding in terms of pure look and feel. The problem through the course of the first season is that the show never decided if it wanted to be about ideas or about story. S2: Definitely more story focused, and not as strong as S1, but ends on a very strong note that tied up story while crystallizing its themes and ideas more than ever before.

Cowboys and Consciousness. I was just like "Wow!" at this: acting, action, actuality, a man in black playing Ed Harris, and Alice reading Dolores through a fourth wall. Or "the" fifth wall? Wow!! At S01E03, the story is growing fast, sounds like it has places to get to. Looks like it could do with a bit more colour though, so it's is in second place (TV) to our friends in New Jersey. Will re-review once the season is over, but I'll go rave about elsewhere now.

Evan Rachel Wood and Thandie Newton make me want to visit Westworld and never leave. To heck with the gunplay and all that cowboys and Indians roleplay. The storyline is just a tad repetitive at times. Genius music and soundtrack. This series is quite exceptional, seductive, interesting, and entertaining. Shannon Woodward was pretty awesome also, as well as Ed Harris. Highly worthwhile.

I am a little bit harsh on TV series. I consider them as very long movies, so after watching a TV series for nearly 10 hours, I ask myself: I could've watched 5 movies instead, does it worth missing them? Most of TV series doesn't worth it even if they are good ones. Westworld is one of them.

It's incredibly original story(I know is based on something but we rarely see that type of story anyway) and its amazing performances(Anthony Hopkins steals every scene his in) help it became one of the great tv shows of the past couple of years even though the story isn't without flaws which is to be expected due to its ambitions.

Takes a bunch of classic scifi ideas & works them into a very well crafted mystery. The narrative feels a bit mechanical (NPI) but mostly lives up to its grand ambition. The first 2/3 of it definitely seem a bit slow & padded. On the other hand I liked the contemplative pace & it builds up to a fantastic finale. Well acted, shot & written but not without its flaws. Follows its own logic you just kinda have to accept to go with it. Stuff like Ex Machina & Under The Skin seem a big influence.

In a word, gripping. This is what all westerns should be; characters that make you care, story that draws you in, and lots of awesome action with no dull moments or drawn-out shots. The casting and acting are nearly perfect so far, while the production design is breathtaking. From the opening minutes it is clear that no expense was spared in the making of this series. So far this is the most impressive series I've seen from HBO since Rome over a decade go.

Interesting ideas, the showrunners are way too far gone up their own ass though. If you don't understand things, it's your fault, clearly can't be theirs. Season 1 is fine, too gratuitous but HBO gonna HBO, then seasons 2 and 3 are… nonsensical and derivative, and season 4 gets interesting. They promised to wrap things up but it got cancelled instead. Great work. I bet it'll go down in history as a pretentious mess and people's positive reactions as the show went on will confuse future viewers.

Westworld, HBO's acknowledgment that Game of Thrones is ending. The cast is superb, with Harris, Simpson, Newton and Wright really bringing it. The 1st season is the perfect delivery of ethos, pathos and logos, resolving the multiple plot-threads in an epic conclusion that ends on a cliffhanger. S02, while still great, over-convolutes the plot to emulate S01, and the characters are slightly more annoying. Djawadi's score is brilliant and the cinematography is great.

Enjoyed the first season, but this second season is basically just 100% dependent on the audience caring about the robots. Problem is, I don't care about the robots. At all. They're just Roombas with longer code. Same problem I had with "Ready Player One", when they were in the virtual reality world, it didn't feel real and I couldn't connect with the characters. People and robots get woke therefore mass shootings is the most unfortunate part, the rest is Ex Machina + Cabin in the Woods gold. Would be fine as a standalone 10 episode story as the resolution to the important mysteries is delivered and satisfying, later seasons can be safely ignored if they don't maintain quality, hopefully they don't feel compelled to write a big twist every season.
