this is a truly entertaining, funny and ambitious movie. of course it fails in most aspects, but the way it does that turns it into an amazing movie in a way ed wood probably never intended. i've seen this twice and intend to come back to it soon. burton's Ed Wood made me appreciate it even more

People who rate this in their lowest tier have no conception of what a truly bad movie is. There's a plot, it's not sluggishly paced, things actually happen - may not sound like much, but it's already an improvement from the 'worst of the worst'. And the worst of this movie just fits into my entertainment zone so I've got very little qualms here.

No matter how entertaining this film is, no matter how much love and effort Ed Wood put into it, no matter how interesting the concept, this is still a complete mess. Anyone who says it's the worst, however, needs to look harder. Funniest part? Off the top of my head, probably the off-screen death of Bela's "character". Stop, look and listen, mate.

Ed Wood's 'badness' has been somewhat overstated. His films are too damn entertaining to dismiss offhand, but the so-bad-it's-good crowd are too caught up in their own ironic mode of spectatorship to really appreciate his wayward appeal. It's clearly laughable for many reasons (cheap sets, poor performances, ridiculous dialogue etc), but it's also memorable. From Criswell reading his opening monologue from cue cards to the crooked shot configurations, Plan 9 is singular, for better or worse.

I'm not someone who generally likes watching "so bad they're good" films, but this was really quite fascinating. By any "objective" standard, this has absolutely no merit, but that won't stop me from having a good time. I might even watch it again... with beer of course.

While of course in many ways technically inept, this is far from the worst of the worst as is its reputation, (Wood's got nothing on Wiseau) and even manages to mix some knowing winks in amongst what seem to be unintentional howlers (Johnson's "live" performance is somewhat amazing). Of course you have to get past Lugosi/not Lugosi, and some overripe performances from the "visitors", but it's hard to hate too much on a movie created from such clear enthusiasm from behind the camera.

Get ready for some of the worst acting, writing, directing, production design you'll ever see; Regardless, I found this film to be strangely endearing. Having seen some great films lately, it was nice to sit back and enjoy a film that doesn't require your utmost attention. That cockpit, lmfao.

Yes, its amateurish inadequacies are well-documented, and very very true. But fuck it, it's a minor miracle to get ANY movie made, especially with just a few friends and zero budget. It's rather entertaining in its own right, and you can feel that there is a certain passion for the material. It's mostly a lot of fun, both because of and despite all its ineptitudes. Wood actually pulls off a few interesting shots, some of the performances aren't that bad, and the score is really quite good.

A film so terrible I could have given this film the lowest rating possilbe. Yet, this is a film that grows on you - like a child's fingerpainting. It in no way represents "high" art, yet it is adorable enough you still can post it onto your fridge. Cute, unintentially hilarious, and a success in the pulp film genre.

This actually is a pretty good concept. It was just let down by the bad special effects. And scientific inaccuracies. And awful, repetitious dialog. And a bit of alien misogyny. And terrible, shoddy acting. And the atrocity of exploiting a dead film legend. You know, little things.

Rewatch. Definitely one of the funniest movies ever made, intentional or not. Both the aliens, who never keep the same motivation between acts, and the humans, who seem to simply get stupider as the movie rolls on, don't come out looking good. That the aliens accuse humans of being aggressive idiots who don't look where they're going is followed by our lead punching them in the faces without provocation is simply delightful. They don't make 'em like this anymore.

Bad in every aspect, from plot, to characters, to direction, to special effect, to acting. The first 10 minutes are novel because the movie is so bad it's funny, but after that there's still 60 minutes left in a movie that feels like 2 hours. It was so boring it was hard to watch the last half.

Incredibly disappointing. I was expecting the worst movie ever made and was pleasantly surprised to find something with some charm that was, at times, unintentionally hilarious. I have to say though that the aliens were incredibly uncreative, but you could blame it on the budget. Some scenes were really terrible but it wasn't a total waste of time. Ending is delightfully terrible: "can you prove this really didn't happen?" lol

This movie is a very tough cookie. It's amateurishly made, full of even the most obvious mistakes, but it a lot of fun watching this movie. A lot of unintended humour stems from the fact that it desperately tries to take itself seriously, turning itself into a comedic farce. Plan 9 has been named the worst movie of all time, but I really can not agree with it, because it has a lot of entertaining qualities, despite its amateurishness. Truly bad movies are those which have no redeeming qualities.

It's the most infamous Z-movie ever made but its greatest flaw is actually how boring it is, with the cast's diabolical acting and Wood's all-encompassing ineptitude inviting only the most sporadic chuckle. It's far from being the worst film of all time though.

Considering the budget, it's not bad. On a technical level, that is. But I don't see any imagination, creativity or artistry in this. Just a guy, who likes stories and movies, but doesn't understand how either of them work. He knows how movies are made and could've probably pull off a bland, but well-crafted studio picture, if someone had let him. But this is just not bad enough to be laughable or entertaining. Just unimaginitive, lame, boring and really tiresome to watch.

"This is 'Plan 9'! This is the one that worked, the worst movie ever made!" So says Jerry Seinfeld in 'The Chinese Restaurant' (episode 11, season 2 of that eponymous TV show). While there is no doubting that this is a terrible film, it has too many redeeming features (e.g. there is no denying that Wood achieves a suitably eerie atmosphere) for me to agree with Mr Seinfeld (as my rating indicates).

Bless Ed Wood, he tried so hard to make this interesting. Worth a watch just for the hilarity of seeing a tombstone fall over during one of the scenes. Oh, and such gems as "future events such as these will affect you in the future" and "Then they attacked a town, a small town I'll admit, but never the less a town of people, people who died." Not as ham-fisted as Wood's earlier effort and all later efforts are deadly dull. While obviously ridiculous it's also dialog heavy which drags. Glen or Glenda is still his true opus.
