If this was a Roger Moore Bond it would probably be my favourite. 1987 60 year old Roger Moore, theme song by Adam Ant. Diamond face sucks. The fencing scene is great. James Bond parachuting into London while London Calling blasts was the death rattle for Bond being considered cool. Well cool’ish.

Starts off pretty good, then the invisible car and the ice palace show up and it turns into, fuck, I don't know? Diamonds, ice, lasers, pasty albino antagonist, futuristic car chases, harnessing the power of the sun?! Fucking James Bond & Robin?! I don't even know where to start, and there's not enough room here anyway. A master class in pure pants-crapping-crazy film insanity.

Yes, this is by far the worst Bond movie. Somehow Cleese is bad as the new Q, or maybe the invisible car just rubbed off the stupid. Halle Berry continues at her downward trajectory, and we get a Madonna cameo that would have sucked you out of the movie (but it sucks so hard already *high five*). Do I have to mention the tidal wave of pixellated shame? It's a big letdown too, because the idea of Bond imprisoned is interesting and we'll probably never get a 007 film set in North Korea again.

The opening is great: it puts Bond in a position we've never seen him in before & makes the stakes really personal. Brosnan is also at his best, bringing a hard edge to Bond that's belied by puns & double entendres that are more eye-rolling than ever. There are 2 big twists & some cool new ideas (invisible car; ice palace; sword fight), but executed in a very cartoonish way (windsurfing off a glacier & awful shock glove efx). Berry is hot but can't convincingly pull off devil-may-care coolness.

Invisible cars be damned, this is still better than View To A Kill because at least it feels like a farce on some level. Bond getting brutally tortured felt pretty groundbreaking for this series at the time, but in light of Casino Royale, it doesn't go far enough. The winks to Bond films of old (the gadget scene in this one is essentially one big "HEY, REMEMBER THIS?") are enjoyable, as is Rosamund Pike as a femme fatale. Otherwise, this is crap. Tidal wave surfing? Madonna? Jesus.

Will I be thrown off Criticker if I admit I kinda sorta enjoy this dork-ass comic book-y CGI fest? (I mean, Roger Ebert himself gave it a thumbs up, so I have some company!) I mean, yes, it's SO UTTERLY stupid. I wish it didn't have an invisible car and virtual reality and CGI tsunami. But the first half with North Korea is actually kinda gritty and neat, Rosamund Pike is a delicious femme fatale, and that Bond/Gustav Graves sword fight, what dumb fun! Trying for the most modern Bond to date, those mindless hacks Purvis & Wade cram a ton of the most uncool, un-Bondlike gimmicks into the film. Jinx is the antithesis to what we want from a Bond girl. An invisible car is a step too far in terms of gadgetry. Same goes for the ice palace, the diamonds in the face, the neural programming, the whole package. Brosnan is up for the role but just looks fed up with the nonsense happening all around him. Please can we go back 50 years and start all over?

Die Another Day is by far the most jumbled Bond film of them all. There are glimmers of thrills and excitement, but the boundaries of stupidity have reached breaking point. Pierce Brosnan remains a great James Bond, no question. But with the exception of Goldenye, his other outings are some of the worst Bond films. Bringing back the Aston Martin was a nice touch. But otherwise the plot, supporting cast, cartoonish set pieces and gadgets ruin this 20th outing that should have been much classier.

Decent Bond flick despite the fact that the current fashion among Bond fans is to bash the Brosnan films. Some of the action is boring and contrived, but the villain is very good in this one. Too bad this is the last Bond film from Brosnan as he is certainly one of the best if not the best to play the role. Those who take or want to take Bond seriously might be disappointed. Those who already realize the whole franchise is and always has been a joke, will find it somewhat entertaining.

Bond movies can never stay away too long from space lasers. They worked so hard making a suave Bond, only to ruin it. It's like putting clown makeup on a lion. It tries way too hard to be cool with cool kid extreme sports and plastic gadgets. Bad CGI and green screen, bad lines and acting. They Flanderised Bond and yet weakened him at once, and erased in the progress they made with Bond girls. The good action scenes are surrounded by lesser ones. Brosnan tried his best despite it all. I'm sad

(2nd viewing) This is what you get when you attempt to make a Bond film with no sense of vision, style or direction. The pre-title sequence was fine, but it jumps the shark when Halle Boobies' character literally jumps off a cliff into the ocean and the villain is just a total joke . Undoubtedly the worst Bond film ever made which is such a shame for Brosnan because he was IMHO the best actor to portray the role.

As a nearly obsessive fan of the 007 series, it pains me to say this about any Bond film, but... I hate this movie. It's a throwback to the campy, gadget-heavy Bonds of the mid-70's and 80's, and, though it worked back then, that kind of stuff just doesn't fly anymore. I consider this the worst 007 film. "Die Another Day" might seem a little plodding at times and, for better or worse, it's one of the most OTT Bond films. Yet, with a fantastic swordfight, the excellent laser scene, the grandiose melting of the ice house and a few very good twists in the plot, it's a winner. Plus, the humour in these films always gets me: two extra points for the "Read this. Bitch" scene; three extra points for the final Moneypenny scene. ;)

That's pretty much the movie, too. Berry "ain't all that", and Pierce is not at his best, either. Bonus points to Pike, though.
