A magnificent opus from the creative genius that is Kevin James, Paul Blart: Mall Cop is a harrowing journey through one man's attempt to cope with the crippling disability that is hypoglycemia. A brilliant script with apt direction from Steven Carr, advances through the captivating plot centered on the protagonist's ennui as he copes with living with both his mother and his daughter. Suffice to say the oedipal symbolism of the hostage scenario is quite telling.

Easily forgettable, rarely funny, and thin on any real meat. This movie will probably have no place in the collective mind of movie watchers and will disappear within a year or two. The thing about these kinds of movies is that they really aren't that bad, they're just so average that it causes amnesia. I do believe, however, this may be the first movie to prominently feature the Segway. Whether that's good or bad, only time will tell...

Kevin James is likable enough to make "Mall Cop" step over that 'worst movie of all time' hump, though the material clearly wreaks of the worst Hollywood puke. It's a sort-of 'Die Hard' with fat guys, idiots and 'Hello Kitty' band-aids. Fans of James (with his sole comedic approach) will find it funny enough, or those looking for idiotic spoof-like slapstick may have a good time, but no matter what it's very bad. Amazing to me that Todd, the creeper son in 'Wedding Crashers,' plays the villain.

I took the kids to go see it and we had a great time. It was refreshing to see a comedy that didn't have to resort to either of the two Fs (farts and F-words). Paul Blart was a fun spoof of Die Hard that I could actually share with my kids.

At least this wasn't some art house pretentious bullshit. I read the title and was like, "Definitely an art house film. This is gonna be hard to watch." Well it was pretty bad, but not hard to watch, so it has that going for it.

I actually enjoyed the first 10-20 minutes but the film became way too predictable. The fat jokes were expected, but still were too much. Film was a combination of the X Games, Home Alone, and Die Hard, not in teh awesome way either.

The moments that play off Die Hard are somewhat amusing, but in the end it just tries too hard to make Blart a hero in an unrealistic and ridiculous situation. The comedic stylings and line deliveries in movies like this have become stale and predictable.

I hate to admit this but I laughed a few times at this movie. It was late and I was tired and maybe drunk, I don't know. I'm sorry. Anyway, fat guy who stars in it seems like he tried to channel Chris Farley and John Candy, but didn't do either justice.

Not completely terrible. This film has merits as a family comedy, with a simple plot and cheap laughs. Paul Blart is loveable and pitiable, which is more than I expected from the trailer. The cheesiness actually makes it funnier.

This is the most mediocre comedy film of all time. It's all perfectly watchable and even occasionally funny but has no quotable lines, lots of derp and a predictable story line. If you are like me and occasionally desire something incredibly mediocre, then you should remember this film next time you feel such a need.

Unfunny fat jokes, a terrible romance, horrible action, and a complete waste of time from start to finish. If it was funny, perhaps it would be worthwhile, but since it's not -- there isn't a single big laugh in the entire film, and any small chuckles come not from Kevin James, but from the supporting cast. None of it works, and it's not worth seeing.

Even a stupid film made competently with a decent cast can be entertaining (Bobby Cannavele please stand up), and this is a case in point. I can only assume that Carr said to Mays, "Do your best impression of Anna Faris".

Undistinguished but enjoyable vehicle for James finds him comfortably wearing the John Candy persona as a likable schlub who becomes an “unlikely hero” – as he is basically the whole show, your enjoyment will rest entirely on your affection for James; it is a low-key, surprisingly sweet natured Happy Madison production, which (like its main character) never pushes too aggressively for its laughs, and keeps its characters relatively grounded and likable.

Starts out painful but ends up perfectly passable; I know I would've loved this when I was a kid. Paul Blart's actually my first time enjoying something with Kevin James in it--and that's despite him embarrassing me by bringing ten times the agility to the table in spite of him being three times my size. Mediocre, but far from woeful or offensive.

"Paul Blart: Mall Cop" is a slapstick comedy with a hero who is a nice guy. I thought that wasn't allowed anymore. He's a single dad, bringing up his daughter with the help of his mom. He takes his job seriously. He may be chubby but he's brave and optimistic. And he's in a PG-rated film with no nudity except for a bra strap, and no jokes at all about bodily functions.

The potential of this film was really heavily wasted. It's one of those "awkward = funny, no-cleverness needed" scripts. I personally don't like that style, if it isn't clever it usually devolves into just awkward & bland. This is a charming kind of movie with perfect cast, 21 minutes into the film for example is a segway romance scene that just makes you smile, there are several hilarious scenes, but in general this film just lacks enough laugh out loud scenes, it's just boring and akward.

The problem with Paul Blart is not that it's bereft of comedy (I surprisingly did get a few laughs out of it) but that its screenplay eschews normal storytelling development and forces scenes on us that don't build towards anything. It's a disappointing anti-story of a movie.

Once you get past the cliches, the crooks on bikes/skateboards, the over-reliance on parkour, fat jokes, brainless side characters, and so forth, it's not an awful Die Hard parody, I suppose. James' character is likable, but everyone else is flat as hell. How did this make so much money?

I didn't expect much from "Paul Blart: Mall Cop" before I watched it, even with the boffo box office it did during its theatrical release. It wouldn't have taken much to impress me, given how low I set the bar for this flick. It managed to disappoint me anyway. The main problem being, there aren't very many laughs. Things should be funny. I see why they think they should be, but they just aren't. That's worse than having no plot and unlikable characters. That, I may get past, but make me laugh!

Pretty funny for a family movie. Sometimes the jokes worked and at times the jokes didn't work or were forced. That is the way I felt about Kevin James' performance. There were times when he was hilarious and than at times his performance felt forced. Kind of like the love story. There didn't seem to be any chemistry between James and Mays. But I thought that was well worth the time though.

I watched this movie and in the middle thought to myself, 'You know this really could have been a stupid yet kind of fun movie.' Instead we get a moronic movie that tried to be funny but wasn't. The crooks were all a bunch of parkour free-runners/extreme sport athletes and while I guess they were trying to make it cool it was just incredibly stupid. It is a family movie in the sense that it is completely unoffensive in every way and while any age group can watch it very few will like it.
