After being diagnosed with terminal lung cancer, an overqualified high school chemistry teacher teams up with a drug-dealing former student to produce and sell crystal meth in the hopes of providing for his family after he's gone.
As Walt and Jesse are forced to contend with their erratically violent business partner Tuco, new opportunities begin to emerge. However, their actions will have far-reaching consequences.
Walt and Jesse, dealing with the ramifications of their past actions, look to move on with their lives in different ways. However, a tempting proposal from a mysterious businessman forces the partners to rethink their futures. Meanwhile, two men have come to Albuquerque looking for Heisenberg.
Walt and Jesse must face Gus after violently crossing him. As Skyler begins to become more involved in Walt's business dealings, she falls under scrutiny. Developments in Hank's investigation of Heisenberg threaten to upend everything Walt has built. Elsewhere, a long-simmering feud threatens to explode.
Walt, having secretly manipulated Jesse and defeated Gus, begins to consolidate power in the remnants of their previous operation. Skyler, who has begun to accept her double life with Walt, realizes that he has hidden a much darker side of himself from her. Mike, stuck between a rock and a hard place, contemplates his future in Walt and Jesse's meth operation. Things are complicated by outside parties interested in their product. Meanwhile, Walt's DEA agent brother-in-law Hank remains invested in his search for answers.
