What a piece of shit. I hated it before I saw it. I saw it and the ailens didn't amuse me. Pumping a syringe full of horse puss into my veins. One of those movies you watch with your frickin parents. Your Dad chooses it from the videostore and you need to spend more time hanging out with your Dad these days and I'm not going to be playing teeball or crap like that anytime soon so, 'Men in Black 2' it is.

Just didn't click this time around. The combination of Jay's naivety and bravado in the first made for lots of laughs; here, the former is gone and a cocky vet just isn't as funny as a brash rookie. Kay's also gone for half the flick, so that doesn't help. It's not bad, per se, and there are some good moments (see the locker colony, and the cheeky reveal at the end) but annoying villains, an empty "romance" (I can't even call it that seriously) and a bland plot linger more than anything else.

The original MIB was a 'cool' concept in search of a film that was only half found, so the idea of a sequel wasn't completely wrongheaded if the intention was to improve upon it. However, Sonnenfield and co presumably pushed forward on the notion that the way to top it was to make it bigger and sillier with even less story. Flynn Boyle is fine as the villain, but every other aspect is worse, including Smith and Jones, who aren't given much to riff on.

It has most of the charm of the original, and some stellar moments help it stand out as an operable action comedy. Nevertheless, the quality has noticeably dropped. It is remarkably more contrived and frankly, more imbecilic, making it easier to just forget altogether.

Men in Black II remains as one of the most underwhelming sequels that I can recall. The first film was somewhat overrated, but it was undoubtedly entertaining and it felt fresh at the time. But this just feels like all the stupid unused ideas and the scraps that where left over from its predocessor. Tommy Lee Jones & Will Smith carry this sequel and make it somewhat bareable. But I just remember the PS2 controlled car being the final straw for me and I was done with this film.

It wasn't garbage. That's the nicest thing I can say about it. The ending of the original movie was satisfying, there was absolutely no need to bring any of it back, especially to ruin it that way.

It's not quite the trainwreck that everyone makes it out to be but I definitely wish it didn't exist. It has some funny moments and the alien designs are nice but that's literally it. Patrick Warburton was probably the best thing about it. What the fuck was up with the Michael Jackson cameo?

Relies far too much on "oh that's so silly" humour. The talking dog, which went on long enough in the first, goes on far too long in this one. I don't want to say that this is a horrible film because it isn't. There are some genuinely funny moments however the majority of the movie just isn't funny and generally lacks the distinct charm of the first film. If you're a huge MIB fan this will entertain but it's certainly not as good as the first.

A real embarrassment compared to the first film. I must admit, casting Lara Flynn Boyle as an alien is rather genius, but her stiff acting really weighs down the movie and she makes for a pretty dull villain. The movie makes the mistake of trying to switch up the dynamic between J and K to 'keep things fresh for the sequel', when the changes just ruin the excellent rapport the two had in the original. It has interesting moments, but generally it's pretty bad.

Men In Black II is hardly the best film in the world, but it is creative enough to keep the the viewing just about interesting. The creative alien designs, wacky nature of the action and the occasional great joke make the movie stand out, also revealing some of the poorly constructed slapstick humour for what it really is. It might be worse than the first movie, which I wasn't too attatched to either, but it does enough to keep momentum going from the original and is hard to hate outright.

The first MIB was overrated but at least entertained, keeping things interesting and fast-moving throughout. This feels the belated afterthought of a sequel that it is, mostly humdrum and dull with very little effort put into any of the writing (prior to the 'reveal' what is the point of Rosario Dawson’s character?). Bar the dog the special effects look noticeably inferior to its five-year-old predecessor too. It took me two decades to get round to watching this: I wasn’t missing anything.

Suffers from an immense case of sequelititis; in that shamelessly just rehashes the first best moments and side-characters. With Tommy Lee Jones' character having his wiped memory restored, the dynamic between him and Smith changes and the movie does deliver a fresh takes on that at least. And it gives the movie still plenty to enjoy. A def step down compared to the first, but still enjoyable.

Trying to revive the franchise years after its debut shows its rust and the whole film feels stale and reaching, as if the creators didn't have a clear idea of what kind of movie they wanted to make. Senile amnesiac Tommy Lee Jones isn't nearly as fun as the sarcastic recruiter he played in the first film and even some reappearances from actors in the first film can't save this mess of a movie. Bland and unfunny.

Kinda sorta feels like a remake of the first one complete with running around after a trinket. And so sad that they didn't trust Agent L as a new main character and so instead they retcon K's ending to be really crappy to justify bringing him back. Nowhere near as good as the first one, but not unwatchable. I just really wish they had stuck with mostly practical effects and a little CGI instead of the opposite.

It's almost like they took ideas that they thought would be funny and made a movie to fit all of them in instead of creating a solid story with funny moments. It has moments where the movie recaptures the magic of the first, but they're few and far between. It could have been a lot better, but I did enjoy it to some degree.

Dreadful sequel. For the entire first half they reverse the dynamic of the lead roles from the first movie and it just doesn't work at all. Flynn Boyle and Knoxville are weak and dull villains and even the FX seem worse this time out. There's barely enough here to satisfy fans of the franchise. Most of my score here is for Frank the Pug who is by far the MVP here.

I'll give the movie some amount of slack as it had to deal with rewriting the end at the very last minute due to a national tragedy. It's just that even without the obvious hack-job of an ending, there is little creativity here, whereas the original was brimming with cool ideas and half the casting is terrible and their characters unbearable.

With mostly hit-and-miss humour, a bored Tommy Lee Jones and an uninspired plot, "Men In Black II" is definitely a step down from its predecessor. Nevertheless, it can prove a pleasant hour-and-a-half: it might not add anything notable to the first film but the returning themes are welcome, the make-up and effects are once more great and the entire movie plays like basic, quick entertainment.

I feel mixed when it comes to Men in Black II. On one hand, it's a retread of a really enjoyable movie, and it lacks the freshness of its predecessor as a result. On the other hand, seeing Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones blasting alien scum to bits with big guns is something that really doesn't get old all that fast. It still feels rushed, and the tone has taken a turn into Sillytown, but I can't say I was ever bored by this very brief film.

Perhaps one of the most blatant "cash grab" sequels in recent memory with nearly everyone involved clearly going through the motions (with the exception of Smith, who does throw his heart and soul into the film, reliable trooper that he is). Material and performers cry out for Tim Burton in his prime; Sonnenfeld's direction feels listless and lumbering. A nice bit for Warburton, and an amusing bookending sequence with Graves are the sole highlights.

They may be back in black but that doesn't mean we should welcome them to our universe. Sadly, this was a pretty weak sequel. A few years have passed and all of a sudden J is the best agent in MiB. He's ordering people around and generally running the joint, until he runs into a tough adversary who strikingly looks like an underwear model. This movie was a lot less funny than the first one and the amount of product placement was horrible. At least the creature designs were still good.

So much of this movie really baffled me. Almost every line had me thinking "Would any person actually say that?" And the general awkwardness of nearly every scene makes this feel like the script was handled by a writer that was really in over his head. Looking further into this on IMDB, it looks like it was actually three writers who were in over their heads. Some attempts at humor are really cringeworthy, and there is hardly a line that feels natural.

The two co-stars were once again a great duo in this movie. I really wish Rosario Dawson was in this movie more, because she is so cute and likable. Lara Flynn Boyle was probably the worst part of the whole movie. She was about as interesting as a can of tuna. The story wasn't half as fun as the first story. I am not really sure who they were trying to please with this movie. It doesn't seem like it is for kids and it is too stupid to be for adults.
