I normally like John Goodman, but I hated this. Best version of the flintstones is EASILY the Harvey Birdman episode "the dappa don". Google it if you haven't seen it. Toe knee :-)

Nice family movie and I like it. Very funny, everything was made of stone and Halle Berry was here very young, very sexy and acting good. John Goodman was here not so bad.

Fun when you're a kid and want to see live action Flintstones, not so much when you're an adult and want jokes that are actually funny and anything resembling a reasonable plot.

John Goodman made for an incredible Fred Flintstone, and the rest of the cast was well chosen too. It's a fun family film and a worthy adaptation of the classic cartoon. Pretty good!

This would've been a lot better without Halle Berry, Elizabeth Taylor and a lot of oddly acted scenes. Most of the gags are pretty funny, but the insane hype for this movie when it came out pretty much guaranteed it'd always annoy me. It's okay at best, but I couldn't tell anybody to actually pay to rent this.

Solid family film. Rick Moranis and Rosie O'Donnell were terrible decisions for Barney and Betty though. Barney was smaller than fren buy he was still way bigger than Rick Moranis. And Betty was a babe in the cartoon... so Rosie... really?

With its mix of kid-friendly sensibilities and relatively risqué adult content (Halle Berry wtf?), this endearingly strange adaptation of the iconic TV show does a lot of things right - cast to perfection (Goodman is ideal), and Bedrock is a beautifully designed practical location. The best elements (scene-stealing comic relief from Taylor, satirical points about middle management) are also the most incongruous, especially in this ostensible "kiddie" film. Runs out of steam in the final third.

This will mainly appeal to the kids to whom it is targeted. The adults will get a little kick in seeing these beloved characters from their childhood as live action characters, but that will wear off rather quickly. There are a few interesting gags here and there, but the story is just not developed enough to keep your interest the whole way.

Loved this movie as a kid, and is still somewhat of a guilty pleasure based on how much I love the cartoons, as well as John Goodman. The setpieces and acting are still alright with me - it's the fact that the movie doesn't know its target audience. It's simply trying to do too much and please too many people.

Well, it does pretty much everything right to be a Flintstones live-action feature. The cast resemble the characters well, and it feels like you're watching the show. The problem is the fact that making a Flintstones live-action feature is THE WORST IDEA EVER. The entire concept is so silly that even if it works in a cartoon this has absolutely no chance of pulling it off. Besides, the script is lousy and the jokes are horrible (unbelievable amount of stone-related puns). Good for kids though.

There is just something supremely interesting about a film that is visually designed to be only for the kids, but the script seems to be tailored to those amused by hardened financial crime and a beloved animated character reduced to a bumbling patsy. All that being said, it still pretty funny at times. John Goodman kills it and Kyle MacLachlan hams it up perfectly.

I remember thinking this was the coolest thing when I was a kid. At that time, there weren't that many movies that were being adapted from other properties. The Flintstones was a show that I watched a lot as a kid and I thought the movie version looked very cool at that time. Going back to the movie now was a bit harder. There are some funny moments in the movie but the story is just a little too far out of it's own time for this century. There is some really good acting but that about it.

Live action adaptations of cartoon shows rarely, if ever, work, and The Flintstones is no exception. Goodman, Moranis and Perkins are perfectly cast as Fred, Barney and Wilma respectively, but they are held hostage by a poor script and Levant's flat footed direction, which ensures that even a vaguely amusing scenario never generates laughs. The sets may have looked fine in 1994, but they are chintzy now and look stolen from a second rate sitcom like Dinosaurs.

While it's occasionally fun to see John Goodman as Fred Flintstone and Kyle MacLachlan as the film's villain, The Flintstones relies too heavily on one-bit prehistoric jokes, painfully irrelevant dialogue, and a by-the-books corruption story gushing out statements on interoffice politics.
