Great action movie that holds up after 70 years. I don't know if it's been restored or not, but the color on the DVD copy was great, especially for being one of the first major color films.

It's a pity that the poster is in black and white because this must be one of the first movies in beautiful colors. Great adventure and a beautiful old movie with superstar Errol Flynn. Robin Hood is a legend and many children will like it too. I've read that this movie had cost 2 million dollar in 1938.

Pretty fun with some great action sequences, especially Robin and Sir Guy's swordfight. It's a little thin and flighty for the most part, but it's a better fit than the dourness of Costner's rendition. Flynn is a ton of fun.

For whatever reason I am sometimes surprised when old movies such as this one are so fun and full of energy. Errol Flynn is fantastic as the ultra charismatic Robin Hood. The action scenes are sometimes silly but quite fun, the humor is effective and persistent, and the pacing is top notch. My only regret is that I put off watching it for so long.

I love to watch a movie like this just to get a feel for the era. Look at the poster, how "technicolor" is written in rainbow letters. Color movies were a big deal in the 30s, and this movie sure as hell knows it. Everyone wears brightly colored clothes, there are lots of sunny outdoor environments, and it's never really dark. Of course, that's just one little aspect of this huge movie, perhaps the definitive Robin Hood film.

Everything you've heard about Errol Flynn being one of Hollywood's most charismatic icons hold true, and the brilliant technicolor productions would fool anyone about when this was made; it's timeless because of that. Having watched (and loved) Mel Brooks' "Men in Tights" parody a dozen times prior to watching this made the experience ever more enjoyable; it would make for a very entertaining double bill, as I believe they mutually enhance each other.

The script is really hammy and cheesy but the action is entertaining and enjoyable to watch. It's just when they talk you really want to hit fast forward, some really stupid dialogue. I also give it some points for Claude Rains' hair cut because it looks so hilariously terrible. It has some cool stunts but I can't ever imagine wanting to see this again.

Tremendously entertaining fun, and a very well-made movie. Everything--adventure, romance, evil-doers, humor, sword fights--is in perfect balance, and the movie flows seamlessly from beginning to end without a dull moment ever. The actors REALLY know what they're doing, and the writing is excellent. Okay, perhaps it's not high art, but it's extraordinarily good nonetheless. And Korngold's score is perhaps the greatest score to ever grace a movie.

The action scenes and Technicolor photography are fantastic, and it's always nice to see Una O'Connor. It's a whole lot of fun, but I think decades of watching and loving Robin Hood Daffy has kind of dampened its potential impact on me. Yoiks and awaaaay

Errol Flynn's portrayal of Robin Hood had all the charm and humor of Cary Elwes's Robin Hood: Men in Tights; it was as dramatic as Russel Crowe's Robin Hood; and nothing like Kevin Costner's failed Robin Hood Prince of Thieves. The Adventures of Robin Hood with Errol Flynn is the definitive Robin Hood and everything since is is a knock off!

Probably the definitive swashbuckler; a wonderfully spirited version of the Robin Hood legend, embellished by charismatic performances from every member of its formidable cast; Rains and De Havilland both especially good and incomporable Flynn is unforgettable in the lead. Staggeringly beautiful technicolour cinematography and a boisterous score are icing on the cake of a truly wonderous film, which hasn't dated or aged a bit.

Wonderful cinema. Swashbuckling adventure/romance at its finest. It hasn't aged a day, and feels fresh, exciting and entertaining even in 2014. You could have told me it was several decades younger and I would have easily believed it. The cinematography is absolutely top notch, as are the costumes and sets. Errol Flynn is a fantastic lead without whom this wouldn't have worked as well.

Errol Flynn is the perfect Robin Hood. It's funny, exciting, and has a great soundtrack. The costumes are kind of ridiculous though - where did they get the silver and gold trimming, exactly? Not exactly a stealthy option for a band of outlaws.

I've never been super into the character of Robin Hood, but this was a fun and impressive film for its time. It looks fantastic, especially being over 75 years old now. There were a couple of instances of decent stunt work, but overall, the violence is still a little too cartoony for me. Errol Flynn was quite charming, too. It's cheesy and old-fashioned, but a good piece of film history.

Great sets, great costumes (except Robin Hood's), great color, and plenty of swashbuckling adventures! I would have rated it higher but it's not really my sort of movie. Too much camp and the escapades are for a younger (or earlier) generation. I know Robin was dressed as expected, but I found it distrubing to see him prancing through the woods looking like Tinkerbell. All the same, I'll be watching it again for the sets and the costumes!

Everything about this is hammy and cheesy but in the funnest, most innocent way possible. Flynn brings the perfect charismatic bravado to the character, and the bright sunny technicolor is a joy to look at. This honestly feels like the definitive telling of the legend, and I don't understand why anyone would try to re-adapt it. All later adaptations feel unnecessary and lesser to this one.

One of the most popular of all adventure films-stirring for children and intensely nostalgic for adults. As Robin, Errol Flynn slings a deer across his shoulders with exuberant aplomb; he achieves a mixture of daring and self-mockery, like that of Fairbanks, in the 20s. The film gives the legend a light, satirical edge

I thought Robin Hood was supposed to steal from the rich and give to the poor, not steal from the rich and donate to the king's GoFundMe. Oh well, as a Hollywoodland factory crowd-pleaser, this is basically fine. The color, costuming, and sets are extravagant, and it has an amusing sense of humor, though I do find Flynn, de Havilland, and the weird crown worship all to be a bit tiring.

Enjoyable movie from the past that still seems fresh. Eye-popping color, which made me wonder if there were any green tights left in Sherwood Forest. Yeah, the plot's a little thin, and there's no way Flynn isn't getting the girl, but it sure feels like everyone in the cast is having a great time with this one.

This is a lot of fun, in particular the action sequences (the sword fights are magnificent). The final duel between Robin Hood and Guy of Gisborn is wonderfully dynamic. Flynn strikes a perfect balance between smugness and chivalry, with Rathbone the epitome of callousness. de Havilland is a very suitable counterpoint to Flynn's big on screen presence.

One of my favourite romantic swashbucklers with Errol Flynn (drool), Olivia De Havilland, and Claude Rains and Basil Rathbone as the wonderful villains. An early Technicolor film with sumptuous colours in costume & background. Then there's Erich Wolfgang Korngold's unforgettable score. Full of witty quips, swordplay & galloping horses. It's a romantic legend that has survived because it's about fighting for freedom & resisting oppression.

This isn't history, and don't look for any kind of peasants' revolt in this gloss on Olde England. This Robin Hood is as much of a monarchist as the David O. Selznick who wept when that other "David", Edward VIII, abdicated. Enough. In Hollywood, history is just a matter of his story. And I'm not sure if this kind of thing was ever done better. The score is not just the perfect accompaniment to this adventure; it is its bloodstream. When people bleed in this film, they bleed music.

Prepare to have your swash well and truly buckled. Outrageously camp in one moment and occasionally genuinely poinient. Characatures a plenty and none the worse for that. Think Flash Gordon crossed with Merlin and you're in the right area. Quick paced with some impressive stunts for the time. Look out for the snippets to which Cosner's Robin paid homage.

I guess this story is loosely based on some possible history but we want to believe it anyway (despite all those guys in tights). Injustice righted with some great dueling scenes. Costumes are wonderful and the lush sets are grand! The chemistry between Errol Flynn as Robin Hood and co star Olivia DeHaviland as Maid Marion was actually real but not pursued off set as Mr. Flynn was married and Miss DeHaviland was not a home wrecker.
