Super alcoholic Graham Chapman crushes it as King Arthur. Had an embarrassing number of Monty Python shirts in high school and the complete opposite in girlfriends.

It's definitely a comedy classic and on its own it's worth a higher score. But unfortunately for me, I heard this movie quoted millions of times before I ever saw it and it ruined the experience. I was a sad panda. Take it from someone who suffered the Holy Grail curse: if you love this movie and want someone else to enjoy it, don't let them watch it with a group of rabid fans who hammer infamous lines to death or like to run around Wal-Mart acting like they have coconuts in their hands.

The low budget adds a lot of the charm since it's more a celebration of enthusiastic LARPers than a parody of historical myth. Can't afford horses, gotta pretend a rabbit is some great beast, most players refuse to die. The way they all clap after the Tim the Enchanter shows off his pyrotechnic rig still kills me. "What an eccentric performance!" See now I'm just quoting it, that's the trap of this movie. "Look at the BONES!" Ha ha oh man, if only y'all could hear me deliver these gems in person

If you can mentally detatch yourself from the image of anyone who regularly quotes it, it is genuinely hilarious. My favorite might be Sir Lancelot repeatedly running in the same spot for half a minute up to his killing spree, but damn if there isn't a ton of other classic moments on top of that. It could easily be 5 points higher if it had a real ending though, damn shame about that.

A comedy classic so great it produces fans who quote it endlessly and love it so vehemently that it can sour the uninitiated on the film. Arthurian legend done silly in a way only the legendary "Monty Python" could do seen here in possibly their most widely known work.

Quite hilarious but I think I have to agree it gets vastly over quoted to the point where it feels like a Monty Python movie for people who aren't really Monty Python fans. Even so it's terrifically hilarious in it's absurdity while still remaining to be intelligent and historically accurate in a bizarre Pythonesqe way. Personally I prefer the Life of Brian but this is still very entertaining.

While I admit that this movie is entertaining, I no longer like it. I have had to watch this so many times in school that it's ridiculous. The movie has comedy, but is not as great as some hold it to be. I wouldn't reccomend this movie, but I also wouldn't try and prevent anyone from watching it. Some people love this movie, but its just not for me.

Best of the tragically few Python films. It's like a long sketch show, that still manages to feel like a movie, perhaps because it doesn't even try to make an attempt at a causal storyline. I have a friend who has a Freudian complex with his Christian family. He'll tell you that Monthy Python's greatest effort is "Life of Brian", and he'll be wrong.

No review will ever compensate for how great this movie is to me. It's just absolutely hilarious from near start to finish. British humor always entertains me though so maybe I'm biased? Nah, this movie is ingenious either way. Hilarious editing and bafoonery from one of the greatest group of men who walked the earth.

I watched this well before I heard it quoted a million times by its rabid, moronic fan base, so my experience wasn't tainted or spoiled in that regard. Truthfully, I never found this funny and I still don't. You can almost feel it trying to amuse you with its quirky/silly sense of humor and it ends up just becoming tiring and irritating. It's not funny in the slightest.

I have seen this movie more than any other movie ever (over 15 times at last count) so the reason I don't rate this movie higher is that I never want to see it again (which may have something to do with the fact that I have the entire movie completely memorized, almost verbatim). Monty Python in Search of the Holy Grail is among the best and most important comedies of all time did (in the 70s, the group ruled the genre next to the director Mel Brooks). With great daring in its day, a huge amount of scenes Anthological for the genre, and multi-brilliant interpretations from each of the members of Monty Python, in addition to the director Terry Gilliam.

One of the best absurdist comedies for all times. It manages to string together seemingly random bits from King Arthur folklore into something both silly and memorable. Not all of the jokes land but there are so many per minute that anyone is bound to find more than a few they like.

A classic for a reason, Monty Python and the Holy Grail's humor, timing, writing, and acting are still pitch-perfect even with the benefit of 44 years of hindsight. The Pythons are a class act, and their best-known work towers over the rest of the comedy genre, even now.

If you like silly humor then this fits the bill. It is not smart comedy, however . . . not much here in the way of double meanings or clever satire . . . it's just unabashedly silly and the gags seem entirely random. I'm no fan of breaking the 4th wall, either-- perhaps it was cutting edge at the time, but by now it feels lazy, and they do it more than once. The flic has a lot of material, however, so the odds are good that everybody will at least notice something that draws out a chuckle.

Excellent film in every sense. Chaotic, iconoclastic, but with a fine and spirited humour. Many parts can be used even in executives and post-graduate students class room to illustrate in a very light manner topics such as: fallacies in reasoning, enslaving psychological scripts, etc...
