'Boring' is such a boring word and usually implies that the viewer had a hard time paying attention to the movie. Not in this case. It's not a slow-burner that required the audience to focus, it's just a muddled sea of craptastic one-liners and awful effects. I get kind of itchy and hot around the neck just thinking about the blury/smokey visuals. Quite possibly the worst comic book movie I've ever seen and that's disappointing because the Rider has the potential to be a cool movie character.

Undoubtedly one of the worst movies ever made. The effects are just terrible. T2 came out 16 years earlier than this and that looks MUCH better. I wish Nic Cage knew how to manage his money cause damn he makes some awful decisions.

I can see what they were trying to do. I wanted to like it, and I tried to like it, but the effort, while alright, came out flawed and just.. Bad. Add to it the marvel comic cliches and the fact that everything was far, far overdone and you get something that, while pretty cool in some bits just falls flat on it's face. Decent effort, bad result. Unfortunately.

After the interminable slog of the first half hour and before the terribly uninspired final confrontation with the forgettable villain (who has all the charm and makeup of a rejected vampire extra from Buffy season 1), there is about an hour in which an unleashed Nic Cage, a funny Eva Mendes, a one-liner spouting CGI skull that would have been embarassed to show its face in Quake III, and Sam Elliott's glorious mustache all come together to produce some surprisingly watchable schlock.

What a forgettable, bland film. Ghost Rider is such a cool character. Why can’t we get a good Ghost Rider movie? I don’t even care if Cage represents role or not, just give us a good adaptation and better effects.

Pity me. I saw the extended cut. Except for some occasionally stunning imagery involving GR, the rest of this is bad. Despite having action, the first 90 minutes feels ponderous. Why? The actors generally can't pull off Johnson's turgid dialogue (think demonic pronouncements) Cage has also brought his unnecessary quirkiness to the role and seems to be channeling Elvis. Worse is the action which can feel pointless (GR's night ride through the city) & often anticlimactic (GR burns his enemies up).

Sam Elliott is awesome as always. The rest of the movie is pretty terrible. This could have been a deeper meditation on redemption and/or could have had much better action pieces. Also commits the sin of just being plain boring for the most part.

Ghost Rider is an absolute mess. It has no coherency, little clarity, is without a single point or purpose, and contains terrible special effects that it seems very proud of despite being worse than films a decade earlier. You can usually rely on these superhero films to at the very least look good, but Ghost Rider doesn't even satisfy my desire to see good special effects. You'll just wind up disappointed and crying, wondering what you and other Ghost Rider fans did to deserve this atrocity.

Some of the subtle details in this movie are completely and hilariously baffling. Why does Johnny Blaze have an obsession with primates and red and yellow jelly beans? Many parts of this film are just oddly goofy for no apparent reason. The original premise is also just a dated gimmick.

The plot of the movie wasn't too bad. There was a lot of good acting in the movie too. The special effects used to change Nicolas Cage into Ghost Rider were really clean and believable. All of this could not save a terrible script that dogged this movie throughout. Dark comedy is the right kind of comedy for this movie but the slap-sticky moments really hurt part of this movie. I'm not sure if Marvel wanted to keep this a movie that even kids could go to or what, but it needed to be darker.

Another dissapointingly mediocre Marvel film. When will they stop slaughtering the great potential of their comics? So many holes, poorly casted... ug. The only reason this isn't a lower score is b/c of the graphics which, I concede, were cool.

Three or four decent jokes and a couple of good stunts. That's it. If you pieced them together... maybe half a minute? Everything else in this almost two-hour film is a superficial, cliched and half-assed disaster. The characters and their relationships are as shallow and underdeveloped as it gets, the visuals, for the most part, haven't aged well, Nicolas Cage is randomly floating between narcoleptic and maniacal, and nothing makes sense or is established properly - therefore nothing matters.

Most action spectacles have a simplistic view of good and evil; some people do obviously Bad Things, and they do them because they're Bad People, and it's okay if the good guy violences them. But this movie doesn't have nearly so clear or compelling a framework for why our hero does what he does. He works for one devil against another, yet is the arbiter of guilt and innocence, punishes muggers the same as demons, and doesn't get around to rebellion until the very end. Why should I root for him?

Easily dismissed as one more to jump on the comic book gravy train, and if you pegged this movie as one of those then you were right. Mark Steven Johnson is just the worst, and yet Marvel keeps letting him adapt their properties to the screen. ...poorly. Respect your audience enough not to show flashbacks to something that JUST HAPPENED, please. It makes things even more tedious. Sam Elliott is great as always, Eva Mendes' tits are spectacular, and Nic Cage points at things a lot. It's not a horrible movie, but it's nowhere close to good. There's barely any semblance of story here and the fights are all so boring.

Now, I understand that a movie about a comic character can have some plot and logic holes (however, his clothes don't burn because its hellfire, which is also why it didn't burn Roxy's hand), but this movie was just one of a long line of crappy quick-buck comic to screen movies. Brought to the screen by Mark Steven Johnson, the man who already slaughtered DAREDEVIL, Ghost Rider is another Marvel comic film that reeks of a cheap cash-in. Not only the villains are crappy, it's also hard to care for the heros when Mark Steven Johnson's idea of communicating the feelings between Johnny and Roxanne is letting them stand below a tree surrounded by blossoming flowers in an otherwise desolate CGI-landscape ...

Dull and uninvolving action film has the considerably less fun droning and monotonical Cage (better suited to serious drama) than the outlandish Wicker Cage, which might have given this film a little more juice. With Elliott and Fonda both around and seemingly ready to play, the talent is certainly here but the results frustratingly tepid – only Bentley seems to come close to giving the film a dose of its needed camp outlandishness.
