In a post-CG revolution world, these new Muppets movies are an unchanging testament to the timelessness of The Muppets themselves. While other classics are being rebooted into 3-D computer graphic abominations, The Muppets are still puppets, the songs have those same 70's AM radio sensibilities, and this movie fits right along with everything else in the cannon. It's a comforting statue of nostalgia in a world where nothing is sacred.

Watching this created an unusual sensation in my facial area. It didn't take long for the skin at the corners of my mouth to feel taut while my lips made a weird curved shape. Is.. is this what you Earthlings call 'smailing'? It was very enjoyable. Just like this cute, playful, cliched-but-having-fun-with-it Muppet revival. So many great gags and cameos, and the whole thing feels like being dunked in a sugary-sweet nostalgia bath.

One of the most positive, joyous, happy films I've ever seen. Segel and Adams are good in their roles, but where the film really shines are the Muppets (obviously) and Segel and Stoller's writing, stuffed with tons of one-liners and great gags. Bret McKenzie knocked the songwriting out of the park; "Life's a Happy Song" won't leave my head for days. This is a feel-good movie for the ages.

One of the most singularly great family films I have ever seen in my life. A smile on my face for 120 minutes - I've never before laughed so much watching a film. Pure joy, you can plainly see how much Segel enjoyed doing this in both the writing and his acting. Amy Adams and Chris Cooper are also perfectly cast. Great tunes, great villain, pitch-perfect comedy. Truly for everyone. I can easily sum my opinion up in one word: Lovely. Thank you, Jason!

Amazing. I grew up on the Muppets, so this was like a jolt back to my childhood. Plenty of humor here for adults and kids alike, some fun songs, plus a bunch of great cameos. My favorite part (which I'm sure I'll be quoting for a long time) was the discussion on the legality of kidnapping. I knew this movie was in good hands with Jason Segel on board.

What happens... when you get a project together with the raw honesty on how the Muppets have faded from modern culture... and you add in good fourth wall humor, reminders on just what makes the Muppets great, on just why they're still relevant today... and you then sprinkle in great celeb cameos that even serve to touch up some of the less palatable parts of the Muppets (say Fozzie's jokes)? You get a movie where you realize, they're not obsolete, they're still awesome... and I loved this movie.

A charming and liberating old-fashioned delight that will have you smiling and embracing even the most silly parts from start to finish. (If you're an adult with a soft spot for Henson's old gang, that is - most Disney Channel ruined kids of today will go run for Hannah Montana in a matter of minutes).

Plays too heavily on nostalgia, especially the end, for me to consciously lose myself in it like I wanted; some of the music pieces and cameos also did not work. But I still love me muppets, Jason Segel & Chris Cooper rule, and Animal's subplot was hilarious. A mixed enjoyment, but a welcome one.

It is everything you could possibly want in a Muppets movie. Which means it's mother fuckin' genius. So much fun, so happy, emotional, great songs, hilarious moments one after another. I'm convinced that the only chance for world peace that we have is through the Muppets: get on it world leaders.

The Muppets is one of the most refreshing, justified and enjoyable reboots in recent years. I loved the Muppets growing up but for whatever reason they sadly just seemed to be forgotten overnight. And this reboot cleverly and hilariously plays on the franchises own misfortune. Segel & Adams carry the film well, but the stars are obviously Kermit, Fozzie, Gonzo, Animal, Miss Piggy and the wrest of the Muppet gang. It's very well written and there's laughs for all ages. The Muppets are back!

Puppetry is one of the oldest forms of theater and it's heartwarming to see Jim Henson's CG-immune creations take back their stage for a moment. I guess I was more of a Sesame Street kid so it took me a while to realize Big Bird and Cookie Monster weren't going to show up here. Kermit likes to keep his friend groups separate, doesn't he?

I'm not sure you could capture happiness any better than this film does. I'm by no means the biggest Muppet fan, but I couldn't help but smile throughout the whole film. Every high expectation I had was met. It's one of the best family movies we've had in years and I would seriously question how someone could not think this was an absolute joy to watch. It crafts a wonderful balance between between true to old fans and helping pull in new ones. Well done Jason Segel, well done.

I have always enjoyed the Muppets and so I remember being pretty happy when this first came out to see the Muppets back in action. It's fun little movie seeing all your favorite characters, all the celebrity cameos, and a villain that is fun to dislike and has some legitimately funny moments himself. To me the weakest link of the whole movie were the main characters, they weren't bad, but they felt like a bit of a distraction to the main plot. It's not breaking new ground, but it's a lot of fun.

What an overwhelmingly likeable film, just bursting at the seams with joy and anxious excitement just to be here, happening onscreen. Segel and Stoller have an obvious affection for the franchise (I too loved The Muppets growing up), and their script is peppered with brilliant throwaway lines and gags, nevermind the excellent punchlines and set-ups. The cameos throughout are used to great effect, and the movie just filled my heart with happiness to the point I'm beaming just thinking about it.

I have literally no childhood nostalgia for the Muppets whatsoever, but even so I still thought this movie was highly entertaining; funny and touching all at once. If I'd watched Muppet stuff as a kid I'd probably have flat-out loved it. Donald Glover has a five-second cameo.

Brings the Muppets back without compromising their unoffensive charm, I couldn't think of a better human lead than Segel (there are a lot of nice cameos in this too, Parsons' was hilarious). I really hope this is the beginning of a new Muppet show....

The addition of Walter wasn't exactly up to Henson era Muppet standards and it relied a bit more on non Muppets than past movies. However, that said it still had enough charm and bits of clever writing to make it a fitting comeback. Not to mention the cameos were great as usual.

This movie was so fun! I think it was true at least for my part that the Muppets had been forgotten. I was never really a die-hard fan of the show so it had really left my memory. This movie made me remember why I watched it when I was younger. Jason Segel and Nicholas Stoller did a wonderful job on the script. I laughed a lot, almost cried a few times... and I LOVED THE MUSIC! Very well done. Segel and Adams were so cute together. Man or Muppet definately deserved it's Oscar. Great song!

I wanted The Muppets to return loud and proud, and despite an admirable effort on the part of everyone involved, I can't shake a slight feeling of being... underwhelmed. However, I enjoyed the film more often than not. It's witty and clever in most of the right places. The film simply lead me on the entire time, as though it hinted that something big and amazing was about to happen, but never actually surfaced. Still, this is good fun for what it is.

Perfect casting, perfect music, perfect script, perfect cameos, more GENUINE evocation of emotion from the audience than many pure drama films, a fun villain, a great story, very funny. Sure it's a nostalgia trap, but I mean, come on guys... it's the friggin' Muppets. It's self-aware, breaking-of-the-fourth-wall fun with loads of charm and laughs. There's not much else to say. A whole lot of fun. Admittedly it gets a bit too self-aware at times for my liking but thankfully most of the time it manages to be just right. Jason Segel and Amy Adams make for two great leads and, much like the show itself, the movie itself is relatively safe in it's humour allowing all age groups to really enjoy it. Definitely something you can take your kids too and enjoy yourself.

I actually ended up enjoying this far more than I thought. The Jason Segel-style humor actually fits extremely well with the Muppets and their humor, and it doesn't hurt that the music is extremely catchy.

A lot of fun. It can get overly sentimental and it doesn't have much in the way of subtlety, but the child in me doesn't really care. It wears its lack of focus and plot on its sleeve, so it's hard to begrudge the film for that, but it is a little jarring and it ends up feeling flimsy and shallow. It's endearing, though, and cute without being obnoxious, so why hate?

Awesome Muppets movie that hit most of the marks other than focusing maybe a little too much on the human side compared to the muppets side and the parts leading up to actually getting the muppets together are fairly mediocre. The actual telethon part is awesome and easily the best part of the movie.

I didn't go into this with a sense of nostalgia because I was never a big fan of the Muppets, but I enjoyed it. I like that it was a passion project of Jason Segel's. I was loving the beginning of the film, but I didn't like it quite as much when all the Muppets came together. My favourite parts of the film were the multiple awesome celebrity cameos, and the really fun and brilliant songs from Bret McKenzie. I liked it, but I didn't love it.

I really like the idea of the Muppets. It appeals 2 children by not treating them like dopes who'll accept anything & adults get comedy that embraces sincerity & silliness in a refreshingly irony-free way. The mixture keeps the series' humor distinct, but ultimately grounded. Tho there's no shortage of smiles 2 be had watching the return of beloved icons, real laughs r about as scarce as ever. Even the songs, written by Bret from Flight of the Conchords fall surprisingly short. I hoped 4 better

Irresistible, genuinely sweet and delightful treat that never dips in to saccharin, but does contain a surprisingly potent emotional kick (especially if you have any history with these characters) – a rare production that stays on its brand’s well-worn path, but still manages to feel fresh and new, with a cast of human characters who know exactly how broad their winks to the camera should be (and Cooper can rap?) Shot through with a signature dark edge that perfectly balances the sunshine.

It's like the studios didn't trust Kermit and Company to carry the film; it needed a huge star like Segel to hold it together, and it's just not true. The result is a pretty good Segel-Adams movie, but only a fair Muppets movie..

The most fun I had in a theatre in 2011, it's just goofy fun. If you like the Muppets, you'll like this movie, and if you don't, what is your problem? The soundtrack is great, especially "Life is like a Song" and "Man or Muppet", both of which are going to be stuck in my head for a while. Score is not a grade.

How far have ye fallen from "Doubt" and even "Enchanted"? I was a Muppet fan from before. This was not that. This was not even Sesame Street. You don't get legitimacy just from seeing a parade of cameos covering up the lack of plot, acting and direction. Henson would be appalled.

What a nice movie. Nothing serious, but a nice atmosphere from start to finish. The songs are beautifully written and performed and the jokes are funny or cliche or both. A nice movie to watch with a Girlfriend I guess.

A complete mess. A mixture of poor songs and an over reliance on pop culture references wrapped in a terrible attempt at story (which for the most part gets forgotten about for large chunks of the film). The film does manage some laughs and charm when the original Muppets manage to shine through, it's just unfortunate that the film keeps trying to tell them that no longer are they not relevant but apparently have not existed since the Muppet Show ended.

Near-perfect film. It was so awesome, so funny and it's always awesome to see Kermit and the gang. The musical numbers were some of the best I have seen in a long time, 'Life's a happy song' in particular. A must watch! Fantastic watching all the cameos too! Edit: I originally rated this 95, but it gains 5 more points because i had 'Life's a happy song' stuck in my head for days afterwards. I am dying to watch this film again. I think I've found my happy song.

Before this, I had never watched single Muppets film in my life. For whatever reason, these characters were simply never part of my childhood, and as such, the constant fan-servicing references and jokes flew straight over my head. However the musical numbers were brillaint and the self-aware humour was absolutely sublime. However, if you're one of those rare people, like moi, who have never experienced The Muppets before, than the charm of the film isn't exactly the most accessible.

I wouldn't say that I dislike musicals, rather, I simply prefer my films to be of the non-musical variety. Anyways, as charming as the Muppets themselves are, most of this felt rudderless-- a parade of celebrity cameos and pop culture references standing in for plot and characterization. And I really do not like Jason Segel. It's a good nostalgia trip for Muppets fans, but it feels a bit hollow.

This is fun, funny, lovable, and heart-warming. So many great cameos and perfectly-executed jokes (coming arbitrarily close to the $10 million goal, only for the sign to be bumped to reveal they were just at $999,999.99; "Kind of makes me feel better, actually"). Jason Segel and Amy Adams make the perfect human couple to ground this movie, and you'll rarely find anything else so straight-forwardly likable and entertaining.
