A man jumps out of a space station and lands on a freeway. Let me repeat that. A man jumps out of a space station and lands on a freeway. Okay, just in case you didn't hear me the first two times, a man jumps out of a space station and lands on a freeway. There is nothing more to say......except that a man jumps out of a space station and lands on a freeway.

In a time when most 80s action heroes either are or should be retired, it's down to one Australian character actor to pick up the rein and ham it up to 11. Sure, the plot is asinine and for some reason the leftover lens-flare from Abrams' Star Trek has found its way to every poorly rendered effects shots here, BUT Pearce is an absolute joy every time he opens his mouth.

I think they used that space prison to lock up all the Teal and Orange in the world for crimes against good taste. This movie reached some sort of Stupidity Ceiling but shamelessly kept going upwards, finally reaching Peak Retardation just when my brain was about to liquefy. Features the ugliest looking sci-fi bike chase in history and rips off the Death Star trench run for good measure. Guy Pierce is the only saving grace and will make you touch yourself.

Virtually every line Pearce utters contains a lame wisecrack. Is 'Lockout' a particularly good film? I suppose not. Did it entertain me and make me nostalgic for the less serious action flicks of the 90s? Sure did.

I don't understand - why did the U.S. government spend hundreds of billions of dollars building a space station prison instead of just using one on earth? Why can one prisoner getting ahold of one pistol with one clip take over the whole prison? Why does the space station threaten to crash into earth for no apparent reason? NONE OF THIS MOVIE MAKES SENSE! Still, Guy Pearce's one-liners are hilarious.

Lockout is pretty forgettable, it's not particularly bad, but this movie is elevated by Guy Pierce's presence by a good mile. These kind of films need to fully embrace the whacky and absurd sides of them, unfortunately this feels like it has a foot in each door, and just kinda becomes silly and wonky with its plot turns that it divulges into mediocrity with some surprisingly bad effects at times. Could've been something cool, but at least Pierce did his thing.

Guy Pearce and Lennie James save what they can out of this subpar PG-13 action romp in space. While Mather and St. Leger have a great grasp on their characters and world, their story plods along and never really goes anywhere interesting. Lockout further proves Luc Besson needs to come out of self-induced Arthur-and-the-Invisibles-retirement and go back to directing some badass action flicks, as much of Lockouts problems come from its two uninspired directors.

Numbingly stupid and incredibly generic, LOCKOUT is about as unthrilling as action films get. From a chase scene early on with some shockingly awful special effects, to the dull and repetitive dashing around a orbital maximum-security prison, to the dull characters, limp jokes, and flat acting...LOCKOUT is a pretty dire ride throughout. Guy Pearce, to be fair, tries to have some fun with the role, and it takes a rather hilarious shit on physics...but on the whole, there's not much here.

A bad movie salvaged by the chemistry between Guy Pierce and Maggie Grace. Pierce's character Snow is an amalgamation of Kurt Russell's characters in 80s Carpenter movies, and he rocks it. Not much else here to talk about.

Guy Pearce would make a really good James Bond...is what Luc Besson is trying to tell us with this movie. I am fit to agree with him after watching this movie. I loved the campy action. I thought Guy Pearce was really charming and fun to watch. I'm not too sure about the chemistry between Pearce and Maggie Grace. It wasn't very believable. Of course, she did end up being one of those cool strong women that Besson loves so well. But, unlike his other movies, the guy is the hero here...usually

Guy Pearce manages to make this film fun and watchable with a character that is just entertaining despite being pretty unbelievable. It suffers from a few problems, the two biggest being some awful CGI at the beginning and being to predicable. You could do worse (cause at the very least you should have fun with this) but you could probably also find something much better.

Kind of blah. Pearce's performance is entertaining, but the movie's neutered to the point of high annoyance, and it's sort of ugly to look at, to boot. Basically, it's the kind of redundant, through-the-motions, cluttered sci-fi actioner that shoulda gone straight to DVD and starred Dolph frigging Lundgren or somebody.

No, not Taken in space. But actually a sci-fi actioner unlike most flicks that arrive at theaters -- I would file it next to Riddick for being both Carpenter-esque and totally uncompromising and sleazy concerning its own story. This is a visually well-crafted film -- those blue interiors and corridors are suffocating --, filled with tons of sleazy, Snake-like jokes and absurd solutions -- Snow and the girl leaving the prison and successfully landing on Earth is pure stupid-B-movie delight.

Dumb and riddled with plot holes, but an entertaining 90 minutes. It plays like a cross between Escape from New York and a van Damme film from back when he was at his peak. Cynical wisecracking antihero and feisty sidekick vs bad guys. Some people said the CGI was a letdown, but I didn't notice. All CGI looks like CGI to me, I'm not sure what defines good from bad in that area.

In hindsight, this really is a pretty bad movie. The antagonists are undeveloped and accomplish hardly anything, there's some really bad CGI work, and a lot of the old action movie cliches are used shamelessly. And yet...I found Pierce's character compellingly amusing, and Grace does a nice job, rising above the simple damsel in distress.

Absolutely ridiculous. Nothing makes sense. How'd the prisoner get the gun and kill the guard at the start in this crazy space prison in space? Why wasn't he immeadiately killed? Why is the control room so easily accessible? Why are they able to unfreeze all the prisoners so easily? Why does someone need to be constantly there to make sure it doesn't crash into the earth? Oddball pairing of Grace and Pearce makes up for some loose plotting in this very silly but entertaining sci-fi caper movie. You'll see everything coming but that's half the fun. Very much cut-price Besson brand: witty script, ridiculous plot, wise-cracking deadbeat and half-dressed not-quite-damsel getting beat up and sweaty and a supporting cast of n'er-do-wells giving it their all. Short and sweet B-movie melarky that challenges you to say it's stupid - and then ups the ante scene by scene.

Surprisingly fun chaotic and formulaic action/sci-fi film. Despite the appalling CGI and effects scenes and a silly premise, the film comes to life through the writing of Guy Pearce's character, and his supremely wise-cracking comic book hero performance. His chemistry with Maggie Grace is good, and the script has plenty of humour to disarm the slightly nonsensical plot details and generic one-against-hundreds chases and set pieces. No classic, but more memorable than the myriad action clunkers.

This movie should have been made 20 years ago with Sylvester Stallone. Maybe then it would have had a shot, but in 2012 the complete corniness and lackluster special effects do not work. Lockout isn't the worst thriller that I've seen, but it definitely doesn't really break any new ground. Some of the plot gets a little convoluted, which sort of undermines the whole "Die Hard on a space station" feel of the film.
