Cameron Diaz stars as Elizabeth Halsey, a scheming and coarse-tongued middle school teacher who gets dumped by her wealthy boyfriend and rebounds by sinking her claws into a handsome substitute teacher (Justin Timberlake). There's just one problem, though: He's already dating Amy Squirrel (Lucy Punch), the most revered teacher on campus. And Ms. Squirrel is not at all eager to hand over her beau, who is slated to inherit his family's fortune.

Cameron Diaz plays a gold digging bitch who makes a horrible grade school teacher. She ignores her students, cheats test scores and smokes dope at school and ultimately escapes censure by framing an innocent rival teacher. She's completely unlikable, learns nothing via her experiences, and the only real humor comes from Diaz cursing like a trucker for most of the movie. I had more fun picking out the faces of lots of people who were much funnier in other things.

Over-reliant on wacky characters who are mostly underdeveloped, but it does have some funny moments. For such a crass comedy it plays a lot of things safe, which undermines the potential benefits of having an unlikeable lead.

"Bad Teacher" is unfunny, insipidly written and sloppily directed and edited. It does obtain the occasional chuckle, but it leaves its comedically promising premise unexploited. Diaz does her best with the role of the teacher, who is neither bad enough to be funny nor good enough to make us care while the predictable, moralistic conclusion is just atrocious. It's all relatively pleasant though and definitely harmless (despite all the forced raunchiness) but not worth the price of admission.

Okay performances, especially from Punch and Diaz, doesnt save Bad Teacher from being anything but another mediocre american comedy with more focus on getting as low a rating as possible ($$$$) and therefore, once again, gets a big fat F on the storyline, because they do not dare taking it all the way. And if she's so much in the need of money, why doesnt she just sell some of all the designer shit shes wearing?

I'm going to be generous and give five points for every single good thing in this movie: Jason Segel; Eric Stonestreet; Phylis Smith; The teachers' band covering a Shawn Mullins song and how much Lucy Punch resembles Nic Cage. Make no mistake, it's not good. Bad Teacher? More like Bad Film. And that's a better joke than 90% of the ones this film has to offer. If you even count them as jokes, which I consider a stretch. Someone please cast Segel in more & better films.

The dizzying incohesiveness of the plot (leaping from scene to scene with only a very loose, standard storyline as backbone) suggests this was either repeatedly raped by the producers or the writers just lazily strung a load of lame gags together and hoped for the best. I really wanna give this a lower rating but the guilty truth is I did chuckle a fair few times throughout, even if the potential for much darker humour is nowhere near realised. A very poor man's School of Rock.

Given Diaz' love of crudity pretending & failing 2 b humor& a trailer that thinks hitting a fat kid in the face w/ a ball is the height of hilarity it's easy 4 potential viewers 2 assume they're paying 2 sit through the MTV Movie Awards. But it's surprisingly tolerable w/ a couple of laughs& a surprisingly plausible character arc toward relative warmth. Mostly though it's b/c Diaz, though clearly aging, spends the entire movie in various outfits designed 2 please (at least straight men anyway).

Another girls can be raunchy too comedy. The basic story is you can be a gold digging cooz and everything ends up perfectly fine. That being said there are some funny moments, just not enough of them. Lucy Punch is excellent.

Though the whole generally shitty person/happy ending cliche is kind of annoying, this was fine, definitely not the worst of Diaz's career. She is entertaining in this, but isn't that likable, and her rivalry with Punch is actually pretty solid. The movie has it's moments of comedic relief, but often it does try to push the raunchy elements really far. However, it's passable, and a lot of notable side characters like JT, Segel, John Michael Higgins, etc. really lift this a bit.

It's fine when you're looking for raunchy humor with a mediocre plot, but otherwise is a fairly disappointing movie. I can count how many times I actually laughed, so it was a bit disappointing when you consider the great cast it had. Sadly, the cast just wasn't utilized in the best way, so this movie fell flat very frequently.

Bad Teacher is a good idea wasted before eventually almost being redeemed by its cast. The good idea was a terrible teacher having to figure out how to improve her life thanks to the students and staff surrounding her. It was wasted because I couldn't believe anything that went on. The cast was strong enough to almost make the film worth watching, and there were some scenes that made me chuckle. Diaz fans will definitely want to give it a watch, while those that aren't probably won't.

Sort of gross-out, sort of “outrageous” comedy that still works in spite of a screenplay that can never decide on a consistent tone or build a rhythm, with a particularly awkward and unconvincing resolution for Diaz and Segel. The well-stacked cast of fine comedy performers manage to elevate the material they're given, especially Diaz's rare opportunity for droll dead-pan. The surprising number of belly laughs, and the cast’s good spirits, raise this to something beyond the sum of its parts.

Has some funny moments, and I really liked Jason Segal, Justin Timberlake, & Lucy Punch. Cameron Diaz does a good job, but her character is entirely unlikable, which for me is a big problem. If a character starts out as a terrible person, I want to see them change. It's not until the last 20 minutes of the movie that she finally does a good deed, but then she goes right back to lying & intimidation to ruin two peoples' lives.

I've never been a fan of Cameron Diaz and this movie really doesn't change that fact. The movie itself has some really funny parts in it. One of the things is how Diaz explains her break-up in a different way each time and how she only shows movies that involve school scenes to her kids like with the movie Scream where Henry Winkler gets stabbed in his office. The best two people in this movie were Justin Timberlake (so nerdy) and Jason Segel (so awesome). Otherwise just an ok comedy.

Awful film, the plot is all over the place. Sloppy, aimless writing throughout. None of the characters interact with each other in ways one would find interesting or want to see more of. Cameron Diaz lost whatever charisma she used to have, and has only a glamourous face and body to fall back on. Here's a pro tip: there was a German film out in 2013 called Fack Ju Gohte, copycat premise and cheesy too, but it was a fair bit more entertaining.

A disillusioning aspect lingers in this shameless and facile Hollywood production. From the get-go it started off with an outright vulgarity, and then here and there you get a handful of shallow snickers. But it had a chance to insert a more exigent message utilizing satire on the deteriorating state of the U.S. education system. Instead unsurprisingly, it focused on the beguiling tactics that Halsey uses to fulfill her silicon fantasy. "Bad Teaceher": a cheap, vapid, mainstream kitch.

Don't get me wrong, there were laughs. And "good enough" performances. But the characters were wooden, and never really changed course from their original singular overwhelming character trait (except Diaz towards the end, but this was superficial at best). This teacher is pretty bad, but harmless. I didn't really find myself too offended by Cameron Diaz's shenanigans. Enjoyable celebrity acting mush. No real remarkable parts or features, just famous people doing very mildly funny things in a professionally lit and filmed environment. 'Bad Teacher' just seemed as if it was trying way too hard from the on-set to be edgy and that remains true throughout. Yet, despite that and Halsey being in her most annoying self - I enjoyed it. This was mostly due to the funny supporting cast that all get their moments to save what little they have to work with. It does enough to get a few good laughs, but the plot's insistence that you pull for Liz does not work. She does not deserve any support and the last minute change of heart is cheap.

As a story it's a god damn mess, with all sorts of pacing issues & scenes that just pop up to deliver exposition because the story requires them. But as a comedy? I can't give it a bad review. It's black as hell and very funny. Segel is lovable as always, Diaz is great as an irredeemable bitch, Stonestreet is incedibly hilarious, and Punch shows a knack for subtle physical comedy in a role that doesn't give her much to shine with (other than her boobs). I had heard good things about this movie and was excited to see it. While it was not bad, there were two major issues that prevented this from being great. The first was just how suddenly a narcissistic, possibly sociopathic character just magically reformed themselves in an instant. The second was that some of the jokes seemed to have great setups, but didn't really get a chance to play out. I'd suggest that a mini-series would work better, but apparently that was tried once before.

I went in with basement level expectations, and came out pleasantly surprised. This flick is essentially Bad Santa with a chick for the lead, but Cameron Diaz doesn't have the capability to do it like Thornton. Jason Segel steals every scene he's in, and is easily the best part of the movie.
