Pretty standard action/comedy fare, emphasis on the action. Reynolds and Jackson are up to their same old things. No one is special, no one is disappointing. They all seem to be going through the motions. It's not a bad formula either. Let's face it, you probably knew what you were getting into if you decided to see this one, so if you come out of it with a bad taste in your mouth, you have no one to blame but yourself.

All the martial arts training that Ryan Reynolds did for Deadpool is paying off in a plethora of film offers in heretofore inaccessible genres including action comedy, adventure comedy, comedy action, and comedy adventure. The Hitman's Bodyguard combines the action of a Hitman movie, with the comedy of Kevin Costner's "Bodyguard" and conveniently wraps it in a blanket of profanity eloquently delivered by cinema ironman Samuel L. Jackson.

This reminds me so much of "The Man From U.N.C.L.E.", right down to the way it's shot, the chemistry between the leads, and so on. And like U.N.C.L.E., this was thoroughly enjoyable to me. I enjoyed that basically everyone in this movie was way over the top -- which is exactly what they were going for, so it didn't weigh me down. Immaculately-choreographed chase scenes and shootouts. Absolutely adored the soundtrack. Not a movie that demands a big-screen viewing, but well-rounded movie fun.

A lot of mostly campy comedy along with a little dramatic acting with a lot of very unconvincing gun play. I disliked some of the cheesy scenes but it was chuckle humorous throughout. Reynolds was very entertaining, but Jackson's character was not satisfying. Overall it is worth watching, but there is nothing particularly spectacular about it. Music and production quality was very good.

Not that impressed with this one. A subpar action movie which is most interesting when the characters are talking about their pasts and the demons that they deal with at the current moment. Snipes and Reynolds are sometimes amusing with some comical lines. This is where the movie shines. Everything else is just forgettable and quite boring. The bloomy effects are also very annoying.

Chemistry is something that is hard to capture and difficult to create. Reynolds and Jackson are both fine here but have no chemistry. Considering this chemistry is, essentially, the premise of the entire film, well, suffice it to say that it is a bore and easily miss-able.

Stupid fun but I was hoping for a bit more from the leads. The story is pretty lame and the action scenes and stunts were decent at best. The two main female characters were annoying and unlivable, I know they were supposed to be funny but sadly they weren't. Gary Oldman was decent but underused.

This should have been 30 minutes shorter or directed by either Adam McKay or Shane Black. For just what it is, it barely works as an actioner set-pieces seem all directed by second units, despite some fun bits (the chase by lake and streets, long shots showing Ryan fighting in a hardware store or a restaurant's kitchen) and the buddy material is more relied on self-ironic jokes and offenses than true gags. Has its moments but feels so bloated.

We all have a guilty pleasure comedy action buddy movie.not so bad for this to be yours.Jackson&Reynolds play up their respective personas so you get exactly what you expect from them turned to the max.The plot could be written on a kleenex you already blew your nose into. The first half is dull, including the action, though a car/motorcycle/boat/foot chase sequence in the second half really lights things up. It could be worse, just the right level for a guilty pleasure

Reynolds and Jackson's solid on screen presence and banter elevates a rather generic and underwhelming action/comedy that even manages to find a way to make both it's leads boring at times. Despite it's star power, their chemistry isn't consistent, and with a film already struggling to keep you invested in it, you kinda see the cracks in this film's foundation. There just isn't enough that both can do to actually save this from being a fine one time watch and nothing more.

It's guilty-pleasure fun watching two actors do what they do best. But for all the fun the leads are having, the movie is a bit too violent and ugly to balance out the comedic bits. So while the movie can be fun, it also turns sharply uncomfortable on a dime.

I really like the cast, but the movie is a run-of-the-mill action comedy that trivialises terrorism across Europe. Never revolutionary, but never deluded enough to believe it was ever going to be, "The Hitman's Bodyguard" has a rocky start, but soon evolves into something with real laughs, gusto, and of course, action set pieces galore. But even amongst all the raunchy chaos the film manages to have a real heart, offsetting the sheer number of gags with just how touching it is. It's nothing new, and it'll probably be forgotten come Christmas, but for what it is, it's a rollicking good time.

I found the movie actually pretty cute. It had some charm of its own, possibly because of the actors. Despite that, nothing really interesting or new. Samuel Jackson will make it work with just about anyone, Ryan Reynolds was simply a bonus. Honestly the more i think about it, the more beyond mediocre it drops - let's just leave it as the cute movie that it was.

I expected to at least enjoy this but I loved it. The casting is obviously superb, with Reynolds and Jackson being the highlights. But everyone else is good as well. It was funny enough to succeed as a comedy, as expected, but what surprised me was how cool the action sequences were. They were actually rather exciting and not by the numbers, even if yes, we've seen this type of movie before. Maybe it won't be remembered, but it was still more entertaining than most movies this year so far.

The action/comedy balance feels just a little off, like if it can’t quite decide if it’s an action movie heavy on the comic relief or a comedy with lots of squibs and explosions (to quote Bill the Butcher: “You are neither cold nor hot - so because you are lukewarm, I will spew you out of my mouth!”). But there are a few kinda fun scenes like the boat/motorcycle chase, and Oldman’s villain is pretty much just if the bad guy in Air Force One survived and became a politician.

A film of this genre (action comedy, that is) which is actually full of genuine action and comedy is rarer than should be the case, but this is one of them. This is mainly due to Reynolds and Jackson and the chemistry between them, with Hayek given much less to work with (she is underutilised) as is Oldman (the generic Eastern European war criminal is such a caricature, harking back to the Bond villains of old).

Loud and abrasive live-action cartoon along the lines of 48 Hours via The Kingsman. +10 for Salma Hayek and her broken beer bottles and +10 for Richard E. Grant still being alive. Otherwise, the movie's success relies entirely on whether you pray to Samuel Jackson before you go to bed because he acts like he thinks you do (ok. I occasionally do). Oh...and Ryan somebody...

You can tell Reynolds and Jackson are having fun here and this is the selling point of the entire movie. Everything else is mostly generic, predictable, cliché action fare, although there were a couple of fun car chases too. However if the idea of RR and SLJ riffing on each other throughout the movie doesn't appeal there is nothing here for you. If it does, then there's a fair amount of fun escapism to be had for a couple of hours. Some bonus points for Hayek's filthy mouth too!

Let's talk about Die Hard a little bit. Because films like this both owe their existence to Die Hard and are always vying to be like Die Hard. Turns out, it's not an easy feat to balance tense action with character humor, because Hitman's Bodyguard feels like a constant tonal mismatch that always wants to be both as tense and as funny as Die Hard. To their credit, Reynolds and Jackson are the reasons this even half works. You know what might've helped? Actual squibs. Fuck CGI blood.

Enjoyable enough spin on the buddy movie is aided by Jackson and Reynolds' enthusiastic performances - however it is Hayek who unexpectedly steals the show as Jackson's hyper-neurotic jailbird mistress. Otherwise, the film just goes through the motions, and can't get the balance right between EXPENDABLES style brutality and clownish humour. A passable genre entry which you won't need to find the remote for if you stumble onto it on TV.
