It's always fake Loki. It was fake Loki a bunch of times and I called it every time. Knowing that it is fake Loki is like curling up under a warm blanket. Thor will leave you to protect the nine realms but fake Loki will fake Loki fake Loki. See Thor saw fake Loki but knew it was fake Loki so he told fake Loki to real Loki to not fake Loki. Then real Loki real Loki'd, but then fake Loki'd while being real Loki so Thor thought fake Loki fake Loki...aw fuck it.

Why oh why do I keep feeling some sort of inexplicable need to dutifully sit through every single major superhero movie when I don't even like the subgenre very much? Whatever. This is a sequel we could all have reviewed without watching it. It's not terrible, I guess - though some of the padding is pretty damn atrocious - but it definitely cannot be classified as even approaching being good, either. It's easily digestible, half-assed and over-stuffed.

Perfectly servicable blockbuster stuff. Where the first Thor felt kinda plain, the second installment does a bunch of things a bit better. Doesn't take itself too seriously, most cast members get at least one moment to shine, there's a bunch of cool designs to be found, Hiddleston steals the show like a boss (when Elba doesn't) and the time whizzed by pretty fast. I can't get enough of that metallic swooshing sound Mjolnir makes. *Fwummmmm*.

The (gratefully few) moments it tries to infuse fantasy pathos into the story, Thor 2 becomes cringeworthy. But for the most part, the tongue is firmly placed in the cheek, and this suits the shenanigans perfectly; as does the novel Portal inspired climactic battle, that for once in Marvel's ever expanding list of "Epic Battles"(tm) switches mayhem with ingenuity.

Endless, meaningless cgi vistas tired my eyes within 15 minutes. Other than Jackson getting first-time-lucky with Fellowship of the Rings no one in Hollywood really knows how to write a fantasy genre flick. The film ditches the fish-out-of-water aspects that made the first one quite charming, and Portman's romantic-comedy schtick fails because there's no romantic-comedy plot in this one: it's just a long cgi-fantasy B-Movie with droning exposition and inconsequential action.

Oh shit! Super evil alien villains are about to destroy everything! Again! But fear not, Thor is here to save the day! Again! Will he succeed? Again?! We're all so super excited! Except we're not, because these movies are getting predictable as fuck. Like the first Thor, this is not a significantly bad movie, just nothing special. There's some truly great chemistry between Thor and Loki, but the surprise department stays empty. Worth seeing if topless Chris Hemsworth gives you a hardon I guess.

Who wrote this shit? Natalie Portman is magic and the bad guys try to steal her magic. THAT'S THE ENTIRE PLOT? Why even bother making a movie at all if they're not even going to do? This movie had Hollywood Hack written all over it. Add a second love interest. Add some random children. Fucking boo. Plus, after a while I started to have a problem with the fact that Natalie Portman spends the entire second act fucking unconscious and being driven around by random men. It's... not good.

while the first thor had the novelty of "god of thunder" becoming a mere mortal plot, this one barely has anything going for it. the action is okay, but all in all the villain and the plot is pretty forgettable. hemsworth and hiddleston carry their characters well, otherwise this would turn out to be a bore-fest.

The good: Loki continues to delight, even if he has too little screentime. Asgard feels less cartoonish than the first film. The bad: The villain is a complete nonentity. A zero. The CGI-heavy action scenes are not as good as the last few MCU movies (though the final clash does juuust enough that's new to avoid being a poor man's final Avengers battle). The non-earth, non-Asgard worlds are uninspired generic-looking forests and mountains. Little chemistry between Hemsworth and Portman.

Thor has to be the Avenger with the thickest mythology, and it hits you with the mythology of the Nine Realms fast and furiously from the start. There's lots of good-to-very-good material found here, with no real wonkiness, it leaves you on a cliffhanger and in most ways I feel it to be a step forward from the first flick. The 3D was still worthless, although in general, 3D is improving. It does more than enough to both contribute to the Marvel universe and make you want to see the next one.

A Marvel movie in reverse: The third act has a boss fight that, as a concept at least, could have been borderline brilliant, and two previous acts that are absolutely retarded. You could call it bad writing. I think it's premeditated. They are trying to see just how much stupid people are willing to sit through in the name of this multi-meh franchise. Evil space ether? Try saying that out loud. No, better yet, a challenge: Try selling that concept to a five year old.

Super hero movies are losing their luster. I'm able to predict almost everything, I feel no engagement in the story, and the action never feels like it has stakes. individual Avengers movies have their own problem in that there is little logic in the others not helping out when Earth being destroyed is on the line. Lacked the humor that made the first so fun.

One-third portentous, dour sci-fi/fantasy poppycock, two-thirds zippy, easygoing, devil-may-care comic book action. Thor: The Setup for Another Round of Marvel Films. It's nonsense. This might have been badass 20 years ago. The planets are aligning like they do once every X-thousand years! Ancient civilizations knew about it! Stonehenge! The villain strictly Macguffin hunts for the whole movie. The only interesting bits were Loki, but his story beats had more to do with setting up future films than the plot in this one.

The latest chapter in the "Marvel Cinematic Universe" is an attempt at a dark (pun intended) Thor movie. However the movie doesn't really fully go there, the villains are bland and the expected post-"Avengers" fallout inside the House of Odin felt like set-up at best. The comic book action is as expected good, but the plot feels like a prop for some underwhelming "Thor + Loki" character development. The brothers chemistry carries an otherwise weirdly fun, but throw-away comic book sequel.

I didn't think it was too bad. It's definitely not the strongest story in this universe. It's a fairly straight forward take, but it does have better effects, make-up, costuming, and even better action, than the first Thor. It's just not nearly as interesting of a story. Still, the cast is fine, and I liked all of the scenes with Heimdail, and Kurse was cool. It isn't great, but it's definitely solid entertainment and certainly shouldn't be skipped.

The mere taste we got of Thor's massive universe in the first film is rightfully expanded upon in its sequel. Earth actually plays second fiddle to Asgard, allowing much of the film to feel fresh. The solid screenplay gives great reasons for the return of every character - most importantly Loki - and, like Iron Man 3, the final act loosens the chains on the action and has fun with the concepts and sci-fi, making it a wild, never-too-serious ride.

The latest installment to the Marvel movie universe is entertaining and a small improvement on the first Thor. Humour is handled better than in the first film, and the earth scenes that bored me before are a lot more interesting this time around. The pacing is messy in the first act, but it slowly rights itself until Loki shows up to steal the show. Further proof that Loki deserves his own film.

One might question the wisdom of starting a scifi/fantasy epic with a frame-by-frame ripoff of the "Lord of the Rings" backstory. But hey, it's all in good fun. Nonsense plot set mostly against a green screen, but the clash between humans and pompous aliens remains fun (the coat rack!), Hiddleston and Elba carry even the silliest dialogue like it's Shakespeare, and Skarsgård is naked in EVERYTHING lately, isn't he?

An entertaining, senseless CGI smash and grab that's been sandwiched into the MCU to set up future ventures. A surprisingly engaging storyline is limited somewhat by a woeful screenplay, a 2D villian and a slightly short runtime that leads to a messy squash to build a backstory in the first 5 minutes. It certainly borrows influences from a lot of places too, but not in a bad way, and hell I do like these characters and Taylors action was pretty good. What was expected, so can't complain.

The first little while wasn't great but once Loki got unleashed the entire movie just got better, partially because of him but partially because I just felt everything else got more entertaining and amusing. It exists more to shuffle the pieces across the board in the Marvel Universe than it does to tell a real story, and as a result the villain is just an ominous threat without much character depth or motivation. The movie would rather spend time on Thor himself, and his interplay with mischievous brother Loki. Their continued chemistry helps make the movie as fun as it is, and Taylor really nails the adventure serial tone -- it feels like a high fantasy Star Wars. And that final shot... Perfect.

Thor: The Dark World is an improvement over its predecessor, even if only half of it truly works. It takes a long time to get going, but once it does, it's a lot of fun. After we trudge through the exposition and world-building, we get a thrilling visual spectacle filled with a lot of action, comedy, and heart. Its human characters are shallow and largely unnecessary, the screenplay needed some work, but I'll take this over the first film. Having too much stuff is better than not having enough.

Another uninspired action-movie-by-numbers that Marvel seem to revel in. After the surprisingly good Avengers I thought they might have finally learned how to make decent movies. But nope, this is straight back to well-produced but formulaic crap. No real plot, no characters, just lots of explosions and falling CGI bricks. Might as well watch someone play Tetris for 2 hours if that's your idea of entertainment.

The Dark World is a mediocre but enjoyable enough sequel that contributes very little to the larger MCU. I liked what Kenneth Brannagh did with the source material but he is replaced by Alan Taylor who doesn't offer anything particularly ambitious or significant. Hemsworth & Hiddleston are great together once again but Portman is a dull love interest and Eccleston is a disappointingly underused and forgettable villain. The set pieces are enjoyable though and there is still fun to be had.

Sadly, not as well-paced as the first one and a bit too crammed and overwhelming with content, this sequel still keeps intact the delicious 80's action kitsch that the first one had. Hemsworth and Hiddleston still have a sparkling chemistry, unlike most of the other characters, but the two are let down by odd and awkward dialogue; a theme that goes through the entire film. A solid action film, but sadly insignificant in the big situation.

the best part of the thor movies are the rare fish out of water jokes, but unfortunately they're few and far between. my main problem is that when thor's on his own, he doesn't end up saving earth, he spends the majority of his time saving asgard or doing something or other on asgard, but the audience hardly gets a real feel for what exactly is going on in asgard, why things are the way they are. the problem this creates is thor ceases to be a superhero and becomes a poorly explained fantasy.

I truly enjoyed this movie mostly because it is such a visual fest. This story takes place mostly on Asgard and the action and effects there are truly spectacular. Color me surprised. The 2nd chapter of 'Thor' is great entertainment---funny, emotional, surprising at every turn, action-packed, and filled with great F/X. I thought, while the villain isn't quite as strong, the threat is still grand, and the movie overall rises above the limitations of its predecessor. It spends too much time on irrelevant subplots and sideline characters. Portman's character seems directly forced into the plot. All of earth, actually, wasn't needed to tell this story. Probably in an attempt to piggyback the successful style of the avengers, an element of humor and casual moments have been introduced since the first film, but director Alan Taylor is no Joss Whedon, so that didn't work well. It isn't horrible, though, but they really should have made better use of the material.

Compared with the first instalment, here the filmmaking is just as incompetent (more impersonal, if not inhuman), the story is even more meaningless, the humour is weak and Portman's eye makeup is a little too heavy (which is odd, considering that Eileen Kastner-Delago was her makeup artist in both films). In any case, the romance plot is reduced to the barest possible bones, entirely subsumed by tiresome melodramatics and computer-generated mayhem, giving Portman nothing whatsoever to do.

To my pleasure and relief, the story is much better in itself and also better told. I still dislike most of the jokes and think Kat could have been better used, but this was a much more mature flick than the original. The love affair between Thor and Jane bothers me because she is a weak, insipid character, but with all the hints, the next one has all that is needed to be a good movie as well. Sure, a lot of Loki's "plans" are completely transparent, and Natalie Portman's character is far from being actually interesting, but the action setpieces are honestly more engaging than in most Marvel movies, and dammit, I just really enjoy Thor as a character, so that helps a good bit. Another predictable plot with a still insufferably lame Jane in the still mostly cheesy CGI fantasy land of Asgard (the funeral scene being a beautiful exception) is iced with enough good stuff to elevate it above its predecessor. There's better self-aware humour (see the hammer hang on the coat rack; Thor on the subway), a pretty cool-if far-fetched-final action sequence, and engaging relational development between Thor and Loki (regrettably reversed during a stupid final-seconds twist).

Endgame makes a joke about how boring this movie is. Nuff' said.

If Star Wars, Lord of the Rings and The Chronicles of Riddick had a slightly mentally challenged baby that would be Thor 2. Felt sorry for Mjolnir in the third act, pretty sure it sighed. First credit clip = Guardians Of The Galaxy will be weird. Second clip = aww. Kitty! Better get Coulson on the phone... Make Mine Marvel!

eng; [thor: the dark world]; asgard wird von der rasse der dunkelelfen bedroht, welche die essenz nutzen wollen um das universum auszulöschen und in ein dunkles zu verwandeln.;

Darker than the first and that's a plus. The humor works well, you want more. The villain is not interesting enough, but the film's decent fun overall.

Lots of action and good special effects. Feels a lot like a summer blockbuster even though it's November. Loki (Tom Hiddleston) is outstanding. He is the only character with any depth in the film. Maybe it is time for a Loki film.. Don't think too hard about the plot and enjoy the big budget effects.

Okay, not the best marvel movie. The Thor ones interest me the least out of all the series they are putting out so that doesn't help.

What a chick-flick. I can't say I didn't enjoy it, but the predictability, the simplicity of it all and a silly reused plot don't really stand it out on its own. I've probably never seen the main actors in such cheesy roles (Portman, Hemsworth, Hopkins, Hiddleston, ...), and I don't think (with maybe the exception being Hemsworth) that it suits them at all. Thank you Marvel for bloating the cinema landscape with your oh so many comic adaptations. Hopefully my last actionhero movie for some time!

cuz of momentum. 70 before lol. Only end battle has bg-worthy stuff. Kept definitive look/personality of thor from avengers. Some meh humor and romance but mostly way better. Best thor+loki dynamic. Odin was only good with friga and she was great, especially with loki. Liked the kagome but pretty poorly done. Narrating plan while we see it was meh. Dark elves lore cool. Better with subs this time lool. Bridesmaids call at end lmao. Loki trick wow

Maybe not an essential instalment in the MCU, apart from the introduction of the Ether. But fun enough. I like Thor as a character, as he actually seems to develop from film to film.

If Thor was considered Shakespeare in space, then Thor: The Dark World goes Sopranos in space. The breadth of characters, the variety of balls being juggled, separates the Thor storyline from the singularly focused narratives the other Marvel films boasted. Subversion runs rampant, power struggles play front and center, extraneous forces make drastic impacts from unexpected directions. This is television writing at its most cinematic and least consuming.

Marvel just didn't know what to do with Thor for a bit and this is a great example. While Loki is fun and you know Thor does some cool things here and there...god is it boring.Jane Foster is not interesting and she literally and figuratively grounds Thor when you want him to have space adventures and not go back to earth AGAIN.Malakith...worst MCU villain and that's saying something. The third act is slightly fun but still it could have been better and it certainly doesn't save this dull movie.
