Obviously this movie is aimed at kids, but I feel there's a deeper, sadder layer here: the turtles behave like sexual predators and almost OD on adrenaline. Will Arnett is the male audience stand-in, a pathetic guy who thinks he's the shit. Females are either evil or eye-candy. ..I think this movie is meant to also appeal to rich assholes that grew up in the 80's and only like things they already know. You know, the Michael Bays. Everyone rolls down a mountain of coke for chrissakes!

It didn't really offend me, but it did even less to impress me. If I saw this with, like, a child, and said child was, like, still alive, I'd be all: "Hey kid! Wanna watch James Cameron's 'The Terminator' instead?" I just don't know. The lesson here is two-fold: 1. Feed kids like you would yourself or apparently they die. 2. What kind of childhood are we giving future generations? Oh! Hey! Hey there! Don't worry, I'm not really allowed near children, and I'm a law abiding citizen.

Only seven years after the last attempt to reanimate one of my childhood cartoons, I wasn't too keen on the idea of the modern Bay-style blockbuster rendition of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles". When I get bored, though, I tend to watch stuff I don't think I'll like--who am I kidding? I do it when I'm not bored too. But to tell the truth, while it's no work of art, this movie is plenty entertaining, and in my book, that's a successful blockbuster. It never aimed for more, so why expect more?

Could've been much worse. The kinetic action down a snowy hill was fun. I thought Arnett was good, but he - as anybody would - stands in the shadow of Elias Koteas' Casey Jones from the brilliant original.

I might be too generous, but having expected MUCH worse, I left with a feeling of relief. It will never be as good as the '90 version, but it was leaps and bounds better than the sequels. I feel like Michael Bay just made me a horrible drawing and now he wants me to hang it up on the fridge. Look at him, he's so proud. Who am I to kill his dream? (Pads Michael Bay on the head.) Nice movie Michael. I'm so proud of you. Look I'll pin it up here right next to Battleship. Now run out and play.

I'm going to go against a lot of people here, but I don't see what's so terribly wrong about this movie. Yes, the writing is pretty messy (though the plot itself is only generic, not bad), with some plot holes that should have been fixed but don't ruin the movie. Is solid writing really the focus on a movie like this? It has GREAT over-the-top action, some emotion, good visuals, and it was quite funny, with only a few cheesy moments. It was a thrill ride with characters I love.

This is the one that everybody hated? I liked this better than the fourth film. I will admit though, there is a far share of flaws. Megan Fox isn't too good in this, but I always like Finchner, and I love Will Arnett in anything. Also, the writing is bad and everything is totally rushed. Low character development, but just a little, and you know what? The action scenes weren't the worst, you can do much worse, and I liked the scene on the mountain with the cars. Not good, but enjoyable.

I laughed a lot. I liked the action. The turtles were funny. The plot was a mess. The ending was a letdown. Fans of the franchise will probably be mad at some of the changes. The action was fine. The two biggest names that people love to hate didn't ruin anything. All in all, it was a timekiller movie. If it's on cable some night and I'm not doing anything, I might just flick it on, even if just for background noise.

The Turtles are profoundly annoying, and with Megan Fox as the central human character, this starts to feel like Transformers 2 made with reptiles. It is redeemed slightly by Will Arnett (who is a highlight throughout) and Liebesman's ability to direct an action scene better than producer Michael Bay. Still, it's hard to ignore the vaguely disturbing CGI character designs, the illogical plot, and the shamelessly blatant product placement.

Afraid I can't jump on the "fuck this movie" bandwagon. I'm no fan of Mr. Bay, and there are totally some moments where you shake & scratch your head, or out-and-out cringe. They really play up the "teenage" aspect, be prepared for that, and I didn't REALLY like Donatello's personality. I won't say that I loved all the creative choices made. That being said, this was such undeniable fun. It's sweet, sweet candy, but it's organic so it's still KINDA good for you. Don't believe the negative hype.

Even nostalgia couldn't save this movie for me. They should have subtitled the movie "The April O'Neil Story." Not a fan of the re-written origin story, or the lack of story for other characters. However, if I was 11 I would have loved the shit out of this movie, probably. Take your kids to see it.

The most unbelievable thing about a talking Turtle movie shouldn't be that Megan Fox is a reporter. But it is. The Turtles are fine, but she drags it down like a lead weight (along with "look how hot she is" jokes killing Arnett's character). Recast before a sequel and we might be okay.

There was literally. No joke. No exaggeration. A Pizza Hut commercial in the middle of the movie. It probably took up 30 seconds. Michael Bay was already in a class of bad that hardly anyone reaches, but he's really managed to push himself and make himself worse. It's kind of impressive. I don't particularly like the designs they went with for the TMNT, but the quality of the 3D was still really good.

it used to be something i loved. when it was on tv, i almost got an instant fanboy boner. then a bunch of assholes tore it apart and put it back together, but all wrong. sure, at first you might think it looks better than ever, but you can't help but notice the damage that's left. underneath. it's like someone chiseled out everything that made it special or unique, and now it's just this bland thing for even blander people. so much for my description of megan fox's face. the movie sucks, too.

This is summer fun at its best. If not for the nostalgia of having grown up with the Turtles perhaps I might have thought twice about seeing this film. However that being said I thoroughly enjoyed the action and the classic personalities given to the Turtles. Megan Fox even proved to be a good lead, I didn't find too many instances where things seemed overly forced or cheesy. A solid summer film that will no doubt spawn a sequel and why not? This one was fun on many levels.

Let's get one thing straight; TMNT was never "good" in any of the incarnations we loved, we were just small dumb kids, who didn't know better. With this in mind, this beefed up version probably does just what it's supposed to, with the pre-teen audience. It was in all honestly a better movie than expected, where not even Liebesman's trademark limb direction, the horribly clunky script, or Bay's greasy fingerprint could kill off the appeal of the four reptile.

Couldn't finish it. Advertisements make no attempt at being suddle and actually subtract from the film rather then make attempt to blend in. Every good concept from the original story is replaced with some half brain replacement. You have years of great voiceactors to work with and decide to choose mediocre ones. The throwbacks are probably the worst most forced thing about the bit i've watched. Seems like the April O'Neil movie, starring Megan Fox the characters polar opposite.

Really not as bad as all the elements working against it would lead one to expect. While it has its moments of idiocy, it actually gets the dynamic between the turtles pretty right. The attempts to convince us that William Fichtner was not originally meant to be Shredder are hilarious.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is just more standard fair for a summer Bruckheimer film. It tries to break free of the original story in places. I don't need the story to stick to canon, but this new origin story is dumb. How could they teach themselves to be ninja masters just by reading books? They should have done something more cliché like Google how to be ninjas, or something equally as stupid. Megan Fox prices again that talent has no pay to play in her getting work.

The movie is bafflingly stupid. I watched it with Rifftrax and they commented on mistakes I never noticed and I noticed mistakes they didn't comment on, so that means that this movie is doubly a mistake. If this "wasn't as bad as you expected" I'm pretty sure you fell into the old saying, if you can't beat them with logic, baffle them with bullshit, because the quality of this, Turtles fan or not, is inexcusable for the budget it had. Thank God for Rifftrax.

I really didn't hate this film, as it was better than I thought it would be, but still bad. Megan Fox and her amount of screen time were appalling and though he did not direct, Bay had his name written all over it. Liebsman tried to pull off Zack Snyder like direction but that did not work either. The shining points were actually the Turtles which stayed pretty true to the other media. Not as bad as this could have been. But still bad.

This movie gets a lot of hate - I think I may be in the minority that really enjoyed it. I think it has a better sense of humor than the vast majority of superhero movies and the action is engaging. could it have been better in some ways? Absolutely, but there is still plenty to enjoy. The best incarnation of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles I feel I am likely to see.

For someone who still remembers watching the original TMNT movie (from 1990, I was three when it came out :) ) this movie is surpisingly entertaining. It still must be great to watch this if you are a child. But, I am not a kid anymore, so I rank it 47/100.

What hath CGI wrought? I really could not get over how hideous these Turtles looked. There is no fun to be had in this film. As a side note, I dislike this trend of recent films that try to give a more realistic explanation of the implausible. Like, for turtles becoming sentient beings, we only really needed some ooze.

The latest Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot has some intriguing moments - a stylized opening credits prologue and some fun action sequences for instance. The turtles suffer from subpar visual effects, but their personalities are spot on and they are exactly what you would expect for talking teenage turtles. Megan Fox is even a decent April O'Neil. What keeps the movie from being anything better than mindless entertainment is a script that is too heavy on exposition and conveniences.

Perhaps the greatest flaw of this pic is that, well, that's about all you get. There are serious save-the-day heroics on display, to be sure. But if you're looking for characters to actually care about or story twists to marvel at or morals that extend beyond self-sacrifice and bravery, well, maybe a movie named Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles isn't really your thing. My hardcore childhood fandom of the Turtles is likely causing me to treat it gently, but, while I'd never call it good, I wouldn't say I hated it either (outside of the clunky new Turtle design, anyway). It was reasonably faithful to the source material, made use of Donatello's techiness in a way other films didn't, and the snowboard action scene was alright. Still, everything else (especially the loud, flashy, Michael Bay-ish interpretations of Shredder and Splinter) made me miss the 1990 film.

At the end of this just try and remember any standout scenes. There's not a single piece of acting or action which makes this hot mess work. Everything looks like video game cut scene graphics and, the stuck in the 80's dialogue, is so brutally stupid that your mind just blocks everything out. There was a limited number of things they could do in revitalizing this franchise but making it an eye rolling camp fest was not it. Megan Fox has way too much screentime and too little acting ability.

The dialogue is vapid. The CGI looks cheap and poorly integrated, and everything not animated has a soft airbrushed bloom. The baffling camerawork leaves the action sequences spatially confusing. The voice over for Splinter and the Turtles is terribly miscast. There are so many logical oversights (one character's caller ID recognizes April O'Neal calling from a payphone inexplicably located in the sewers). It is shamelessly riddled with advertisements. I mean, this movie is really fucking bad.

The TMNT were my jam as a kid but I can't imagine how anyone who has no nostalgia for these characters could find even an ounce of enjoyment in this. The fact that Whoopi Goldberg still has a film career proves that once you're in Hollywood nothing can tear you out. She needs to go back to stuttering on the View but she really makes Megan Fox look great in comparison.

$125 million dollar budget and they couldn't even hire a good camera man to frame the fucking scene properly. This shit is so lazy and generic on a technical level (lighting, camera work, blocking actors etc) it feels almost intentional ('well the plot is ridiculous so why should we even give a fuck?'). Why does Hollywood even bother trying to adapt potentially fun pulpy material they so clearly despise in the first place? What a sad, joyless corporate shitfest. Fuck you, Bay.

Honestly not terrible. You can tell, and thank god, that Michael Bay did not direct this movie. It's not great, but enjoyable for what it is, and I noticed that the 12 or whatever year old in the row behind me was having the actual time of his life so it's doing something right. I liked how straightforward it was. Wastes no time in telling its story which is good when the story is this feeble. Megan Fox, as always, is awful.

It's kind of not even bad enough to be crap. It's just lazy and boring and very mediocre. The writers clearly didn't care enough to put any effort in. The plot is totally generic. The turtles are ugly, and aren't given much in the way of personality, besides their most basic character traits. The CGI's not that great either - Splinter looks ghastly. Fox is awful and can't act. The only positive thing really was that some of the humour did work. But that's not nearly enough.

As a Michael Bay-esque action film and even as a TMNT film, this one brings nothing new to the table. Seriously, I mean nothing. Whatsoever. But I've killed two hours in worse ways. Megan Fox and William Fichtner both do a decent job pretending they don't hate themselves for doing this movie, and the action scenes have decent enough pacing. I liked the use of color too. I just wish all of these elements found use in a better movie.

I was an avid Turtles fan as a kid so there's a lot I find appealing here. But I am really getting tired of how contrived all of the relationships are becoming in these blockbusters - turns out all the main characters are related or knew each other their whole lives! And one of them killed the other's father! Finally, every decision about Shredder is a wrong one and that sinks this movie below even my lenient Ninja Turtle standards.

It's a movie with ninjas that are mutant turtles. It could be worse. The plot is a very predictable "foil the smart villain who turns dumb for no reason" story, but I guess it's not awful. The dialogue is bad enough that you feel like it's beneath even Megan Fox. I chuckled a few times, sometimes with, sometimes at the movie. I don't care about TMNT so nothing here bothered me it's just a bland by the numbers movie.

It's not just the over compensating CGI or the ADD action. When you're dumbing down a concept like teenage, mutant, ninja, turtles, you know Hollywood has lost any and all faith in its audiences' intelligence. Plus the way Mike creeped all over April was just plain douchey. [Rifftrax relied too much on "boy is this bad huh kids?" and not so much on riffing the goings on. But when they did riff it was spot on hilarious. Hell they should have been hired to punch up the one liners for the Turtles!]

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, when you put it like that it sounds insane... I found this movie to be quite enjoyable. I had a lot of trepidation about this film when I heard Michael Bay was involved, because I was pretty sure that he was trying to kill off every beloved childhood franchise that was dear to me... luckily, he didn't have as much input for this film and Jonathan Liebesman and his writers did a very good job!...

Not terrible but definitely not good either. Way too generic, this could've been an other superhero-transformers movie that came out in the last 5 years. The turtles are too big, powerful and indestructible to be impressive for defeating the Foot Clan. Also what's up with Shredder being a super fast super shredder robot? Did they have to rip off The Wolverine's lame villain? Not a complete waste of 2 hours but I'm already forgetting details and whole scene from the movie after only 5 minutes.

It's junky and panders to the lowest common denominator, but it's also relatively stylish and well executed for what it is. Liebesman takes cues from both Bay and latter day Tony Scott to create a somewhat interesting visual experience that almost compensates for the questionable plotting. Ultimately it's the story that lets the film down, and the turtles individual personalities aren't nearly as well defined and distinctive as they should be, but it's watchable for nostalgia freaks.

I was really excited about the Turtles big screen reboot but you can tell Michael Bay and his Lens flare have been involved in some way. It appears bad scripts and Bay go hand in had because this was just awful. I would have preferred a much darker feel to the Turtles series similar to how they approached the original 1990 version. Instead we have a kid friendly, unfunny, predicatble script and some of the CGI needs improving. I think kids would enjoy this film but if you are over 10 avoid it!

I'll be the one to disagree with the rest. I liked the design of the turtles, splinter and shredder. Yeah, it was silly, incoherent, cliched and the jokes were mostly lame. In other words, a pretty spot-on remake of the turtles series you grew up with. While not a perfect movie, it's real entertainment value has been seing it rile up 30-something baby-men who feel their childhood destroyed by the latest redesign of characters who had already been through many iterations before the one they knew

This movie is STUPID. The plot is weakly constructed. The pacing is haphazard. The casting choices were poor, with the exception of Will Arnett. Perhaps the only redeemable aspect is the action sequences which seemed to be the sole focus of the the movie. Also the CG characters look good and deliver one or two laughs. Overall I was expect a fun, stupid, mildly clever movie. Unfortunately, this movie is just stupid.

Not as bad as some make out, but it's not very good either. It's just 'ok'. Nothing really works well in this reboot, and nothing for me made it unwatchable. A lot of the production design choices don't hit the mark for sure, and the story is a bit bland and forgettable, but it's live action Turtles and unless your childhood memories are precious then there should be enough here to mildly entertain most TMNT fans.

So Michelangelo was sorta funny, but the film otherwise fell short. Like all Michael Bay films, it was hard to follow the action sequences because of his camera work. Megan Fox was annoying as hell. And I certainly didn't enjoy the retooling of the Turtle mythos. Will Arnett seemed incredibly out-of-place. It entertained more than the recent Transformer films, but it wasn't good by any metric.

After getting over the fact that the Turtles are huge and don't look exactly as the Turtles of my youth, it was a fun and entertaining CGI blockbuster, that's so packed constantly it entertains sufficiently while it lasts. Best part was the opening sequence and flashback to the Turtles upbringing. Worst was the most cliched blockbuster score ever.

Definitely don't hate it like the majority do, but this isn't anything spectacular. The Turtles feel uninspired and quite boring, there was one scene that actually made me laugh. The movie lacked good comedic relief (what would you expect with Micheal Bay's influence) and the darker tone and visuals just didn't make it feel like an actual turtles movie. However the action is filmed quite well and the CGI was quite good in one scene. This still holds potential with the excellent turtles cast.

YESSSSSSSSS!!!!!!! My childhood heroes have returned !!! O how I have waited for this moment. Before I went to see it in the cinema I went to have some pizza with my old friend who used to idolize TMNT as well :) and during the movie we were constantly commenting on the movie. Megan Fox makes a brilliant April and there are plenty of good jokes in the movie. Also the CGI is great and there is plenty of action and background story :) COWABUNGAAAAA !!!

Elden geldiğince çizgi filme bağlı kalarak çekilmiş film. Kaplumbağaların hareketleri, Shredder'in hareketleri isim isim filme konmuş. Animasyonlar ve görsel efektler çok iyi. Megan Fox, April rolünde başarılı zaten bu rol için biçilmiş kaftan. Eğlenceli ve esprili sahneleri var, iyi bir konusu ve senaryosu var. Bir çizgi film uyarlaması ancak bu kadar olur, düşündüğümden çok iyi buldum.
